there's a lot of class specific items. Is that what it's like from here on out? I prefer items I can equip among multiple characters. :/
Yeah, each place has some class-specific stuff from there on. But they also have general things, as well.

Guess I'm safe then, not being a man.

I don't tend to mess with slots if I can avoid it. In the DS and PS2 versions of the game, the chances at the slots are much better, though.

:lol Damnit. Maybe the medal princess tag should have been a give away for me.

Anyway, yeah I spent hours in the DQV casino being a slot junkie and I havent played it since. I was pretty close to having enough for the best prizes though.

On the world map there are a lots of caves and areas I cannot reach with the ship. Since I'm pretty sure I am at the last boss, does that mean that these areas can only be visited in the post game stuff.

Just picked it up last Saturday for that Kmart deal (and also heartgold) and loving it so far. Playing it on the ds takes me back to when I would play DQ1&2 on the gbc. Now I wish they used that overworld music instead of some of eights...

Overall I enjoy watching the new battle system, slow downs for critical attack are epic and now I wish more games do it.

Yes.

Damn it, I am trying to figure out where this 'Rock Cave of Bliss' is supposed to be, but I have no idea. I also have no idea what the level (level 8) and the structure of the name (I understand it's a random combination) is supposed to mean :(. The first map was easy!

Edit: I am tempted to read the manual, but I haven't read a manual for a game in like, 3 years.

Can someone summarize exactly how the job change system works? I made my main character based on a character I use in practically any game with a customizable main character, but I feel like I eventually want her to change to a warrior. From what I understand, changing jobs resets your level completely?

Also, is anyone playing through with only their main character?

Each job has a level attached. You never lose this level, but every time you switch jobs, it'll change to the level of the new job (which is 1 if you haven't leveled it before)

When you switch job you go back to level 1 for that job. The game still keep tracks of your levels. If you were a level 20 warriors and switch to mage(never used before) you will be level 1. You keep all the weapon skills you obtained as warrior and the abilities you got. You will get to use them if the class you switch to can use these weapons. If you switch back to warrior, you will go back to your warrior level (20). Spells don't carry over when you switch jobs.

I don't think it's possible to beat the game with only one character unless you grind forever.

Funny, I just went in and whooped his ass to get a new map, cause I can't find the first one he gave me. He got a LOT easier, might have something to do with my overpowered characters. It felt good killing him (characters doing anywhere from 300-500 damage, huzzah!) after the sound whooping he gave me the first time.

Edit: 500million dollars to whomever can figure out where this location is (this is an artistic recreation I made myself in lieu of a photo):

Either Batsureg or that place north of Batsureg (just got there today)

I tried around Batsureg, but not around the place north of it! Although it doesn't seem to match up (the water and whatnot) i'll give it a shot.

Are the armamentalist's skills worth investing in? It seems to me that they are only good if you know (can guess?) the enemies' elemental weaknesses.

Loving the game, but I had a question. Does anybody else have an issue with the game telling you get x number of skill points, but then only awarding you x-1? For instance, when my main levels up, the game says "Bob gained 6 skill points", but when it switches to the skill assignment screen, there are only 5?

It's certainly not a big deal, but it's pretty strange.

Those are trees! And it's not Batsureg or the place north of batsureg =/. In my head thats a fence and that's a building inside, so I assume that means a town, but maybe it's some sort of ruins. *sigh* I like that they mixed this up with some randomly placed maps, but I am dumb so this is hard for me!

I thought that happened to me, but I realized I was just reading the 5 text as a 6.

Dude I'm pretty sure those are chickens. Maybe you should start looking for chickens.

Your image is of the Zere area, I'm fairly certain. Slightly southwest of the town.

Does treasure maps of the same lvl have the same bosses? Because all of the level 1 I have have the horse boss while the level 4 ones have the dragon boss.

Beat the story at 45 hours. I loved every minute of this game, and I plan to dive into the post-game content immediately.
My final party was:
38 Gladiator with sword and shield
42 Priest with spear
39 Armamentalist with axe
39 Paladin with a fan - the hustle dance ability for maxing out the fan was very useful!

My only disappointments, and they are very minor, were the soundtrack and some of the quests. A lot of quests had very vague or ambiguous descriptions, and this often led to some frustration. Those disappointments aside, I think this may surpass Peace Walker as my GotY so far, but it is too early to say.

Man, that was some scary stuff. I was in over my head but somehow managed to pull a victory out of my ass with a critical strike with the last character still alive, my minstrel. What a great feeling :p.

From what I've read the element aspects dont really penalize you, so even if you have the wrong element you still get an attack and defense boost at least.

So basically the Fource skills raise attack and defense regardless, and you also receive an elemental boost against w.e elemental attacks an enemy might use. Not too bad, Ive heard light and dark force stuff is pretty useful in the late game too. Obviously theres a big bonus to pick the right element but I imagine its not too hard against bosses considering they use alot of elemental attacks.

Ok I just
got my ship
. What are some good places to grind? I'm going to play around with classes before I continue on, so I want an easy place to grind, preferably with many metal slimes.

Also I asked this earlier but no one answered: is priest to ranger a good switch? I've read that rangers are good for healing and can dish out pretty nasty damage as well.

Thanks. That's good to know. I got all the mage skils I wanted, and wasn't sure to which class I should change my wand mage too. I guess I'm gonna go ahead and change to a wand armamentalist then.

I'm stuck in the post game stuff.
I'm at the port town. I'm doing the Leviathan quest.
I already have the wand and the robe. I have no idea where to get the shield. It's not in the shops and I don't have the recipe for it. Where can I get a silver shield?

EDIT : Never mind I already had one equipped that's why it was not in my items lists :lol

Best place would be Bad Cove, fight the Metal Medleys. They are in the room where you start seeing Hunter Mechs and Riptides. Its pretty easy if you just run in, see if a medley shows up in the first part of the room, and then run back out again.

Im not exactly sure what skills a ranger gets in terms of healing, I know they at least get heal since lvld one to 15 or so. Paladin is also seems like a decent option too since mine has heal and midheal so far at lvl 25. The problem is that i dont know if the ranger or paladin gets Zing or any kind of multiheal spell so I switched my mage to a priest after my priest became a Paladin.

So at what level do Grottos start getting good loot? I could really use some Agility Rings and Sorcerer's Stones.

I've done a handful of them now, up to level 11, and the best thing I've gotten so far is a Magic Water.

Also, what determines the boss you get? Is it random? Or is it just, like... Level 1-10 are Equinox, 10-20 are Shogum, etc.?

You can steal Agility rings from the girly cyclowns near wormwood creek.

Is that the horse? I beat it way earlier than that. Make sure you give the best medecine to everyone. Stash everyone up with the best medecines and use them when in need. Also you can send back his darkness cloud at him if you have a fan with the reverse cycle skill. Use accelerate so that your priest always executes his turn before him.
