Let's talk about the inevitable expansion.
DQX requires an 16 GB USB stick to be played. The install only takes up like 6 GB on the Wii U storage though. And going by the install time (2 DVDs, the second one taking only like 1/3 or 1/4 of the first one) of the Wii version, that one didn't even use 8 GB of the space either.
So by requiring 16GB instead of 8, it is quite evident that they are planning to expand the world of DQX greatly. The game plot has people alking about going to Rendashia, which will likely be the new territories to be added.
It will be interesting to see when that will hit and if it will be just a huge update or if there will be an expansion disc.
I really want this game but I want it for Wii U. Now that Nintendo has an HD graphic Console. I am definitely buying any games for it they release on both Wii and Wii U.
I bought Dragon Quest VIII in 2010 I still haven't beat the game.
Hello, I've been following this guide to install the PC version of Dragon Quest X.
I'm in the offline portion of the game right now. I've created a character, my sibling and had to choose one of those statues. Right after this, there was a cutscene where i've received a magical book and my character got teleported away.
I was then dropped out of the game. I can choose my character but i'm then stuck at this dialog:

Any help?[/QUOTE]
It says you need to return to the launcher and choose online mode. But if you don't have a Japanese internet connection or a VPN, you won't be able to play it.

It's worse than that -- if you aren't on a VPN when you first connect to your Square Enix account for the first time, it's permanently flagged as a barbarian's account and you're auto banned from DQX. There's discussion on Woodus's forum about when to make sure the VPN is active.
Yes. You can use the same account with all versions. Are our Wii accounts able to be transferred over to the PC version?
Have the Wii version ordered should be here early next week. What VPN service are you using at the moment extralite? As I understand it Overplay no longer works for DQ10.
Looking forward to wiling away some time in the casino!
Man, really? Bleh.
Well, at least I do have a couple of other options.
Overplay still works (still slow), though for a time I could only use one of their servers successfully. That problem was resolved apparently. What VPN service are you using at the moment extralite? As I understand it Overplay no longer works for DQ10.

I'm using a different VPN currently (slightly faster) but probably won't for much longer because they are discontinuing their L2TP service. I can't get PPTP to work on my router (outside Overplay's DD-WRT extension which also offers the superior OpenVPN) so I need the L2TP.
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Anyway, we'll see how it all goes when I dust off the Wii. Fingers crossed.
Have you had a chance to dig into the expansion at all? Is the Sabercat accessible from the get-go?
Wait, Square's IP ban is still in place after all this time? I won't bother re-subbing if I have to deal with setting up a VPN again. FFXI/XIV never had IP bans. I wonder why DQX does.
Does the full client suffer from the same login issues as the Beta?I purchased the PC client today, downloaded and updated to the latest version. When I log in I don't appear to have the 20 free days that comes with a new copy of the game. Is it only the case that you get the 20 days the first time you buy a client.
I already have the Wii game so did that forfeit my 20 days of free time?

Version 2.1 Update
On 2/27 the new big version update hits with the following new features:
- The second part of the Rendacia storyline will become playable.
- A completely new job is added: The tool wielder. In addition to being able to use items more efficiently, the tool wielder can also scout monsters of the types machine and physical and cast some helpful effect spells.
- The cooking guild opens and a new profession can be learned by players. Food already exists in the game and boosts stats for a while but now players can prepare these meals themselves.
- Fishing will be possible at various places in the game. Players will need a fishing rod and lures and depending on the quality of the tools they use, chances to make a good catch will vary (much like the success rate at the guild mini games).
- In addition to flowers, players will be able to grow vegetables at the fields of their homes. And there will be water tanks for the fish they catch to put in one’s house.
- People can change the appearance of their dolboards (vehicles slightly boosting traveling speed in the field) to look like killer panthers in the dwarf capitol Dolworm. Here players can use their killer panther prism, which is a reward for playing on a paid subscription for at least 540 days. Newer players who don’t want to wait that long can also buy a white or black killer panther prism for the respective palette swap versions of the original reward mount.
- At the pyramid, players will be able to check infos about the different rooms by searching the tombstone that leads inside, like if they already have cleared it before. If you help a player who takes on a room for the first time you can get small golden treasures.
There will also some adjustments to the skill and weapon systems. The special traits of these will be made more transparent and differences in stats between tribes that became apparent when reaching high job levels will be taken care of. With the adjustments there are supposed to be no differences between tribes anymore.
There will be another DQX TV program on Nico Nico detailing these changes on the 24th.- Several new team features will be added: Team leaders and subleaders can turn their homes into gathering spots, enabling fellow team members to freely fly there as via a ruler (teleportation) stone. The max team level will be raised from 30 to 33. And team members will be able to leave short messages for other members not currently online.
- A new skill point reset item is added for monster tamers (and tool wielders): When a befriended monster reaches level 50, they can reincarnate. This means they return to level 1 but can equip all level armor and gain new skill sets to use skill points on. With the new reset item you can choose again which additional skill sets your reincarnated monster should acquire.
There will also be new equipment for level 80 characters, a much asked for item to completely reset all skill points (instead of just the ones spent on specific single skill set), new ways to filter strong boss time attack rankings and various other additions like these.
That is inaccurate, you need a registration code per platform and disc (one for the original and one for the expansion). You can however use your account on any platform.I read that unlike FF14, it's possible to play on other platforms without actually purchasing the game on each platform as long as you have the client and have purchased one version, and it seems like buying the PC version right now is a bad value with the all-in-one edition coming out in August.
Well, my character is already a level 30 priest, which is the job I wanted to continue with (sage aside).Actually, you can find the base game and the expansion for 6500 yen on Amazon.jp, that's just 1800 yen more than the all-in-one pack (which costs around 4700 yen). Beware that for some reason it's cheaper to buy them separately.
Or you can download the demo and play for free for 2 weeks, if you don't mind the limitations. They won't gain level after 20 but you can import you characters.
Also, about the casino and the new jobs, they're available from the start but you need to register the expansion to unlock them.
Still curious about what I read last night about the versions though. That was here. Looking at it again though it seems like it might just be talking about the expansion and not the base game.
That thread is about moving from PC to Wii U and the last poster Mimas correctly explains you need a new registration code which is basically what I'm saying too. You pay for the registration code.
Edit: Also I recommend playing on the Wii, maybe beat version 1 and all of the distributed quests, then buying the all in one package for your preferred platform when it comes out.
That's interesting. I just checked that page and you are right. Good for people who can borrow install discs. Not sure where you're getting that. The post explicitly says "You would not need another registration code though."
But I already figured out that there's only one expansion registration option, by looking at my account info on the site. They have a registration option for each platform and then a single expansion registration box. Seems like it doesn't care which platform you register the expansion for. This is most likely what that poster is referring to.
I'm not entirely sure because I never could play the game with a fast connection but it is my impression that the frame rate depends a lot on your connection speed. The Wii U version didn't feel much higher frame to me at all. It is decent when not many people are around and can get quite slow when there are.As for playing on Wii... The reason why I stopped playing originally was because the framerate was so bad that it gave me motion sickness. I'll certainly never be playing on Wii again.
I don't even get 60 fps with the offline benchmark. Anyway, if you can really get steady 60 fps in a busy area like Megistolis or Gartlant area where the Saurus Lords are, good for you. I really doubt it though.
