Use the torch to light up the statue then you'll be able to damage him. If statue get destroyed then light up another one, and if this one as well then move to the next area, there will be more.
I'll add you both later when I got back from work (my PSN is LaughingBanana). Arranging proper time to coop can be tough though, since I live in Indonesia and the time difference between here and you two (I assume US) are kind of massive For reference, the time I submit this post is 8.38 A.M.
Anyways, I also have trouble with
Wraith
. Not really sure what to do with the statue to make the boss vulnerable, lighten them up with a torch? Can't seem to find a torch anywhere due to the chaos on the screen, gahhhhh.
I only need the items for those two to proceed. Got the rest of the necessary items from joining other random rooms last night, hahahaha.
And oh yeah, forgot to mention, mine is Vita only.
Oh that's tricky then. My sleeping schedule is pretty messed up though so who knows lol.
For wraith: In the very first room you encounter him in there should be a torch somewhere on the wall (I think it's right next to the exit). Just kick it down and grab it before heading out to the next room. For every statue (except maybe the very first one? memory is hazy) there is a weapon stash box that'll contain a torch so you don't have to worry about having to keep the very first torch you find. Other than that you have the right idea; just light the statues and go all out crazy.
Red Dragon, maybe people can offer some more advice that play more caster, but I had a hell of a time on Sorceress. My advice is to open w/ Meteor while he's sleeping, and beat on him in the room as much as you can withstand. When it's too much b/c of fire, rocks, quakes, etc. then take him out into the hallway.
Stand under his head w/ an ice rod and spam tornados and the down attack. Be sure to follow the narrator's instructions at obvious times.
The Ballistas can do a lot of damage, but you have to hit his face (be about mid-way up the screen, and you can adjust the angle while holding Square).
Meteor swarm does almost nothing to the red dragon when he's sleeping.
Lure him down to the lower left corner so he won't do the breath attack anymore.
Up + circle with ice staff, cast as many passive damage spells. That's the only way to do it as the wizard. Sorceress is easier because she can use protection to prevent getting hit by the falling rocks. To dodge his shockwave + falling rocks, jump to dodge the shockwave, then air evasion for the rocks.
Passive damage boost... Fire Ward? I haven't invested in it, not sure how it works.
Anyways folks, can anyone (Vita version) from different regions play together? Or Region 1 people can only play with Region 1 people and so on and so forth?
Maxed Incite Rage, Adrenaline, Berserk, Brandish and War Paint is carrying me hard through Inferno right now. I'm just spamming my moves with invincibility to get through the stages (some enemies still 1-shot me) and taking down the bosses with Rage + Paint.
I feel under leveled at 60 though. Really frustrating losing literally an entire bar of HP if I mistime a single parry.

When I'm at my parent's place I do too, even though they have the faster Internet.
At my place it works like charm.
Turns out I get NAT Type 2 at theirs when doing the Internet Connection test in the Vita Settings, so something (maybe fixable with opening ports) is restricting me. You might want to check that.
Out of 10-15 attempts (I was addicted, hahaha) last night I got maybe 2 failed connection, and hmmm, also around 2 times where people in my party gets kicked out (although I joined their party, to be exact), but other times have been groovy.
What's your PSN? You mind if I add you? Mine is LaughingBanana.
Hmmmm, they say that monsters trapped inside the effect will receive upped damage, not that you yourself cast higher damage.... Also some say it protects against fire attacks....
Confusing, hahaha.
Anyways, evasion upgrade for Wizard. I heard it can increase invincibility frames when teleporting: if true, then this is sexy.
Ended up downloading this game per a recommendation from this thread. What an amazing game so far. If anyone would like to add me to their friends list my psn is TTKA_Nate. Also purchased Muramasa Rebirth, only to find out it goes on sale in 2 days. Can never have to many games on my Vita.
Just tried the Infernal Ancient Dragon with my solo Dwarf.... Ouch. Got him to about 25% health before he slaughtered me. Looks like I need to level up bad and actually get an "anti-dragon" set going. That's going to be a bummer, as I haven't seen any gear that is specific to dragonic enemies since level 34
Hey, other dwarves, what is you strategy for
knocking the magic bolts he shoots at the towers back? I can get the first two sets easy, but that last set on the ground is almost impossible for me
. I've read about some people using power smash... How the heck does that even work!
I just got done with the best group I had been with yet. It was me (a wizard), a sorceress, and two fighters. Not a single death the entire time and we collected all but two of the infernal talismans. By the time I had to call it quits I had gotten my five million point trophy and everyone had nine lives. Just an all around awesome run.
In other suspicious information from gamefaqs, apparently Shield Tactics lets you block stronger attacks that would otherwise break your guard. Any confirmation on this or any particular examples that demonstrate its effectiveness? Red Dragon was a bit of a bitch because just about every attack of his was unblockable and the fighter doesn't exactly have good evasive options, but I have no way of knowing if stuff like the body splash or fire breath is blockable with whatever number of points in Shield Tactics.

I am still on normal but I experienced the same thing around last night, for the fight that leads to Kraken.
Although, most of the time people are jumping erratically and hoarding food to themselves -_____________-
I always try to act considerate, doing stuff like if I still have full HP then I will let others take foods, but sometimes people just don't care to act the same way even if it's obvious that I need them
Also was in a party with a couple of Dwarfs, they're jumping all around throwing bombs which was really hilarious. I laughed all the time during my run with them.
I guess my experience is pretty much the opposite. Ice lasts only for a second or two, while Stun lasts a good 7-8 seconds. Ice is a 30% chance, d+O with Lightning is a 100% chance. Lightning feels like the CC element to me, and Ice is just "why are you there?"
beat a stage without taking damage and buy all items from the shop!
I feel like I suck with the Elf though. All I do on bosses is chug potions that make me hit harder and spam arrows. I feel like I should be doing more. Only level 8 or 9 though.
Time to start out a new class and see if that takes hold of me quickly! I know with my Dwarf feeding other characters higher leveled AI help that clearing the game won't be hard. Just looking for something to grab me like the Dwarf did.
Speaking of potions, I hope I am not the only players here that does not use any. I mean, I carry them, but old habits of hoarding consumables in all the other RPGs I have played made their way into Dragon's Crown as well, hahaha.
Also some useful skills for a Normal mode playthrough? I'm guessing eventually stuff like Spirit Up and Concentrate? What about spells? I'm going to be running with AI probably.

Sorceress can be a bit rough since she's largely a support class. Here's my rundown from playing through Normal:
Concentrate and Spirit Up are musts. I prefer Extract over Mental Absorb b/c your Skeletons and AI companions will frequently be getting kills which you won't be getting any MP from. Just whack on enemies when you get low or charge it up yourself.
Levitate. One rank is all you need IMO. The Sorceress's Levitate is more of an escape than the Wizard's version which lets him sort of hang out in the air for long durations. Because of this, you don't really get much out of the air damage boost, IMO.
Skeletons are your best friend. They do murder on enemies, and even some bosses. However, rooms filled with traps and certain bosses will just blow your skellies away.
Curse. This spell is the shit. Rank 1 is garbage. Rank 2 is suddenly very nice. Rank 3 is ROFLMAO frogs everywhere!
Blizzard. Full-screen, moderate damage plus crowd control for its duration. A must have, IMO. Shit's going bad? Cast Blizzard.
Protection. In addition to reducing damage taken, it provides knockdown protection.
Rock Crusher. Decent near-instant cast damage, great full-screen knockdown.
Thunderhead. General opinion on this spell is very, very poor. The damage it does is so random. However, it does last a long time and that damage will add up, especially given you don't have to do anything to sustain it. There are boss fights where I've certainly noticed not having it.
Conjure Food. It makes food. Higher ranks make better food. I normally take this instead of health potions.
Gravity. I'm told it's nice, haven't used it extensively. I've certainly seen its benefits when friends have used it. Basically it'll hold a group of mobs in place while doing damage to them for its duration. Nice to drop a Rock Crusher on them after this.
Haven't used Petrify or Ice Prison.
Deep Pockets is crucial so you can carry more spells, and I find Adroit Hands very useful for being able to chain spells more quickly together.
Don't forget that while you've got spells, your staffs are capable of doing tons of damage, you just have to keep your mana up via charging and melee.
Ice Staffs are your friend. They have a very high chance of freezing their target and its manage usage is relatively low. The horizontal air charge attack can do stupid amounts of damage against large bosses (Up + hold O in the air) since it shatters.
Fire Staffs are higher damage than Ice and have similar attacks, no CC though. Murders natural enemies and undead.
Lightning Staffs do the highest damage but their MP usage is off the charts. Jump + O is really super strong. Not generally my favorite, but it murders human soldiers and gladiators.
Your hardest bosses are going to be the ones that put a lot of pressure on you to do a lot of damage to them quickly and wipe out your skeletons
^ Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Mental Absorb works even if the enemies are killed not by you? I am under the impression that it works only if Wizard/Sorceress gets the kill! Oh blasphemy!

Extract is the one where you use that weak up-close attacks on the enemies, right? Seem terribly dangerous when you can just regain MP at a safer distance?

It is, but sometimes it's easier to just whack the guy that's in your face a couple times and then resume your casts, rather than trying to run or teleport away and start charging up.

It's a fast chaining move that also stuns most enemies even if it doesn't do much damage. It's easy to lay an up+O with any staff and just mash away while they're unable to retaliate due to being inside a pillar or stunned from lightning. If you're confident in your levitation canceling you can even "slide" down an enemy slowly while levitating and throw in about 3 attacks between firing off fireballs or aerial lightnings before you land. It's by far the best way to build mana.

Also, the standard attack has very little horizontal range but pretty good vertical coverage. You can stand next to a downed enemy and keep hitting him to get as much mana as you want. It's handy against enemies that aren't tall enough to hit effectively in the air, especially since so many staff spells knock down.
After reaching about lvl 20 or so, I've decided that the Wizard is just not for me. As much as I want to like him since I always play wizards, he doesn't seem fun to play at all (at least for me).
Trying a melee character next, but haven't decided which. Might go with Fighter to at least see how he plays.
It seriously takes a while before the Wizard truly starts to shine; can do well very early with just Slow + Blaze on bosses, but running out of mana so fast on trash stays annoying for a while. Also there are simply some Wizard skills best left avoided (Meteor, Thunderbolt and Flame Burst), and some are must haves like Blaze, Slow and Extinction for the very high levels and LoC.
BTW, skills like Extract, Power Shot, Impact Arrow etc, are all default skills. You don't actually have to purchase them to get the effect. The way the game states the skills though, it would be understandable if some didn't realize this. All the Extract skill does is makes what you already have stronger. It's one of those skills you definitely want to avoid at all costs.
This game somehow flew under my radar. I think I'll get the EU version in October though. Too many other games to play and I don't even have much time. Wonder if I could convince a friend of mine to get it too for co-op.
VG+? My copy finally arrived today too, took long enough. Will play it in the evening after work, although I'm not really sure which character to begin with. Leaning towards Fighter, Elf or Wizard.

I so regret not being able to hear the narration through her voice. If anyone from Atlus reads this, please, PLEASE release the japanese narrators as DLC!
Also, thanks for the Sorceress tips, going to take my sorc to multiplayer soon (Amazon reached Inferno, Fighter is in Hard).
Hate when people online run away from bosses. I want my talismans dangit.
I'm going to make myself a checklist of all the different foods in the game and check them off as I cook them. It's too bad there isn't art in the game to show what you've eaten and what you haven't eaten. I know the artbook has stuff about the food.
Has anyone playing local co-op on the PS3 come across what seems to be a glitch when you
acquire that first rune from Lucain
?
I can use and purchase runes, but my friend's character can't do either, despite progressing together from the start and completing everything together up to this point.
