Dragon's Crown |OT| Knock down the crown

You can actually get 5 aerial charge shots off before you're forced to land. Neutral square can be as many times as you want in the cancel chain, but not directly after another neutral square.

So like double jump > charge shot > back square > charge shot > up square > charge shot > forward square > charge shot > back evade > charge shot

Or whatever combination you want based on positioning.

It helped when I realized in the middle of the next try that his hitbox was pretty much just his head, which made my crouch shots much more effective. I just missed killing him before using my second continue, but I made it :p

That fight would be so much easier without the falling rocks.

Ah yeah, if your crouched shots aren't hitting the head, they're not hitting. Glad you got it.

Another set of hacked bones to look out for: Chairi, an Elf. That goes along with TESSA, a Sorceress. The latter used to be present on Vita only, but I've seen it on PS3 now (probably due to people doing save transfers).

Reminder if you get hacked bones (Lvl 99 Character, ridiculous items w/ like 255-255 damage, 99999 durability, 8 stats, etc.):

Back up your save to another file.
Attempt to bury the bones, if you get no item you're in the clear.
If you get an item that doesn't crash your game when you try to highlight it, you can sell it off at the shop and likely be fine. (this happened to me 15 hours of play ago)
If you get an item that crashes your game when you try to highlight it, your save is corrupted and you need to reload.
In the temple, change the character's equipped bag to a different, preferably empty one. However, even just changing the bag can change which item the game is going to give you (if any at all). After changing equipped bags, attempt to bury the character.

This should go in the OP.

Also, I finally messed with Curse a bit today...it's only level 1, but man that hitbox is small. I couldn't get it to hit anything right in front of my face in 6 attempts. What gives? And when you get more bubbles at higher levels, how much of the screen do they cover?

I've only used Curse at Lv3, because it seems to be obviously trash at the lower levels.

I think it goes about 2/3 of the screen when it's fully zoomed out at Max, but I don't typically pay that much attention to it since everything usually gets turned to frogs.

Curse is pretty great, but it really doesn't begin to shine until you get it to Level 2. Each level gives it an additional "bubble" that travels out further in front of you. Each bubble can hit multiple enemies.

On Hard especially, it's a godsend.

Just made an Elf! Any advice on skill allocation? I know she's deals monstrous damage when done properly, so I want to be careful with how I build her.

Power shot, salamander oil, impact arrow, and clone strikes are all important.

Don't max out rapid shot. Level 2 at most, in my opinion.

So i have collected all the talismans, and the game says i should head for some gate but then it takes me online, does the game singleplayer have an ending or what, cause this is confusing?

Go to the gate, point your mouse at the Z rune on the markings on the wall. Use the other 2 runes it gives you the option of using.

Oh okay, so I'll be using Curse to hit one particular target, and not a full room like Petrification. Right now I have 1 or 2 points into everything. I can't wait to get the damn respec item so I can focus my stuff after testing so much. :p

Since I got the Vita version of just $13 due to tradein credit, I want the PS3 version now. Sucks though as I missed my boat to get the art book :(

I disagree. Rapid shot is a good crutch for picking off enemies and helps a ton on the B Lost Woods boss. It isn't high priority though so you can spec into other things if you desire.

I just stuck one point in Salamander oil and toxic oil. Evasion should be maxed out for mobility and survival. Deep pockets for potions and back up weapons (Elf really burns through bows).

As far as basic combat power shot, impact arrows, clone strikes, quiver capacity, battle hardened are all staples.

Luxury abilities would be elemental lore, deadly boots(I use this) + slide, rapid fire and health/nutritionist.

The biggest hurdle for elf is learning how to play smart with her. That means how to survive and do insane damage and what to do when you are low on arrows. Personally I prioritize gear with high damage, crit rate and drop rate so I keep my arrows high. Learn hit boxes and evade cancels and you will be well on your way to kicking ass with an elf.

After having so much trouble with the Red Dragon, I ended up wasting the Ancient Dragon. I feel like a little less of a scrub now. Does he have any weaknesses? I stuck with Toxic Extract since I assumed a dragon would be strong against fire.

Curse can hit multiple targets per bubble, so I generally throw it at a crowd of guys that come into the room or are mobbing up in front of me. I haven't used Petrify, but someone on here said it can be resisted, while Curse can't.

Level 2 rapid shot (3 arrows) is more than enough to quickly pick off things like wizards.

As far as Lost Woods B's boss, aerial charged shots with salamander oil are more than enough assuming you can aim the diagonal trajectory properly.

Thanks! And Spacious Arrows, I'm guessing. Why is rapid shot bad?

Oh god I'm such a noob. Yes, of course spacious quiver. I can't believe I forgot that.

As for why rapid shot is bad, this is the answer:

Rapid shot doesn't penetrate. One power shot can hit every enemy on the screen.

And in addition, the power of each successive arrow fired in a volley with rapid shot decreases with more arrows fired. I'm making the following numbers up but this is how it works

When you fire 5 arrows in a row with rapid shot, the first arrow will do 100% of your damage, then:
2nd: 80%
3rd: 60%
4th: 50%
5th: 40%

Being the damage whore that I am, I would never fire off more than 2 or 3 arrows using rapid shot. I'm better off just canceling the shooting stance with an evade and doing another power shot.

Considering going for the platinum for this game. Most of the stuff is stuff I would have done anyway. All spoilers below are minor trophy spoilers.

Right now I'm at 28 bronze trophies with zero silver or gold.
According to lists that means 10 more bronze, 7 silver, and 3 gold.

I was already planning on:

- Clearing normal with the other 5 characters (5 bronze)
- Clearing the other two difficulties with my dwarf and leveling him to 99 (2 silver, 1 gold)
- In clearing the game with all six characters and my dwarf on inferno, I'd fill the art gallery (1 gold)
- Exploring the Chaos Lab (1 bronze, 1 gold)

Really worried about the 100k strike and the cooking ones. I'm not bad at the minigame but my high score is something like 38,000. Cooking all food will be tough because there is no in game checklist. You basically just have to remember what you've made and what you haven't. There is a good guide at GameFAQs about this so maybe I'll try that.

The rest that I'm missing I think are doable things with either a little bit of patience or some luck/perseverance.

Don't worry about 100k strike. I did it on my elf by throwing a bomb at a spike barricade in Bilbaron. Crit for 106k. Just put on gear with +damage to objects or "When LP is 0, damage + %" or "When health is low, damage +%".

Then purposely get your hp to flashing on your last life.

Alternatively, just run into gargoyle gate at floor 75+ of Chaos Labyrinth. The cannon will get you 100k damage guaranteed.

Some of you keep saying boss weaknesses are all that matter when it comes to choosing which rod to use, and it's really not that simple. Once you start with the A&B, you have even more options in determining when to pick the "gotta use this for the boss" gear. Most of that doesn't matter that much until Infernal anyway.

Regardless, if you solo 100% of the time, just use whatever the area (including the boss) has a general weakness too, or at least don't use what it's resistant against. It also helps to carry one extra rod of another element per bag.

If you group, at least even partially, Ice becomes much more important. Who cares if you lose your "deeps" somewhat, when you've got two Amazons and a Fighter (who are arguably much more damage than you anyway) zooming around the screen? Keep shit frozen and it will die even that much faster. It also sounds like maomaoIYP doesn't do LoC. You can't simply plan for what you'll face, because it's always so random. There is no "this bag will great for here" choices to be made, you have to be more of a generalist instead of specialist in that dungeon.

Kraken, Wraith, Killer Rabbit down...for the life of me I can't make it to the Kraken without the ship capsizing. My AI companions can't load those cannons for shit.

Damn, been having serious online problems with the Vita version. Dropped players during boss fights and such. Was hoping for a good long run but only got 2 stages in before everyone got the boot.

Does the lightning staff's d+O stun remain solid throughout LoC? I prefer to play a crowd control style, and I've found that the stun on the lightning staff is preferable to the ice staff. It seems like ice breaks easily and I'm not doing a whole lot for the team. Plus it's a 30% chance versus the 100% stun chance on lightning.

How does the cannon loading work? I couldn't figure it out.

Doing it solo (no AI) on infernal, here's how I succeed:

Only pay attention to the right side of the ship. Load the 2 right cannons and fire to break the lower right tentacle.

On the mast tentacle, use your character's strongest attacks to get it off. For Elf, a single charged upward shot takes out the mast tentacle. Then go back to loading the right 2 cannons. I haven't failed a single time since I started ignoring the left side of the ship.

Ignore both tentacles that attack. Only attack the tentacle that grabs the mast. You can even do this solo. Don't need to load a single cannon.

Did you read my earlier wall of text in regards to what each rod is good for? You're right in that the stun is pretty good when it lands (which is frequently), but it's usefulness wanes once your Spirit Up and Concentrate skills get higher (spam). Ice is area of effect, while Lightning is in a straight line. Enemies are typically all over the place on various planes where Ice can hit multiples. It also does a hell of a lot more damage than the Lightning stun to groups of enemies. For solitary champ types, it's debateable which is better. Probably Lightning if it works, but the rod in general is just not as effective overall.

Lightning's up + O attack has a relatively decent chance to stun as well, and it's probably that rod's best single target action due to it's crazy damage.

so i went to normal to try and get the 2 minute kill thing

i have to recollect the 9 talismans to fight him again?

Which means for me to get both trophies I have to grind out another 18 talismans?

jeez...

Had a great string of games earlier and ended up scoring a handful of
hard mode talismans
, 7 levels and some solid loot. This game ruuuules!

Just noticed that Roland's torso is a snake head. Pretty rad. :D

Edit:

Also had an interesting glitch happen. Was juggling a blue thief near the room entrance. About the 3rd time I popped him up, his sprite went into a couple oval spins while it was stuck in its dizzied frame, then disappeared.

I did read it. Ice may aoe, but the freeze breaks all the time - where is the real value there? Stun sticks around for a long time.

lol should have bought this via Amazon when I had the chance a few days ago. Had to pay $69.99 on eBay to get a sealed PS3 copy with the artbook. Oh well, totally worth it. ADORE the game! (^___^)

Free bonus? You paid 20 dollars more than retail cost.

Got Bunquafa the Sorceress to 31 today. All my high level npcs have fallen.

Are we talking about the Japanese version? US preorders got the artbook for free and the game retailed for $10 less than new games normally do.

The art book was a pre-order bonus. People paying more are doing so because they're buying it secondhand from people that got the bonus.

Edit: Or other circumstances, importing etc. But you probably get what I mean.

If you paid 20 bucks more than retail you got ripped off.
For most here the Artbook was a preorder bonus that didn't cost anything.
