Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

You're saying lifestone out, shortcut back and he's there? Or exit through the one way door and re-run BBI?

I go through the door, never tried a Liftstone... seems like it would be a waste as it takes you to the same place the door does.

----

On an unrelated note: they fixed the clear sky postgame glitch.

Fucking thing sucks. I've been running through the story and BBI again to see if there are any BBI quests exclusive to before fighting Grigori (there's only 1) and when I tried to do the glitch, it continued the fight like normal.

That 1 quest is only a Notice Board one, to kill a Silver and Gold Knight, so it's not worth it at all if you missed it. The reward is only a lvl2 armor piece as well, IIRC.

So, if you have clear skies postgame (like I did), don't do into NG+ or you'll lose it.

Yeah. Just trying to figure out if there's a quicker way. Going through the one-way door resets the short-cuts forcing a complete re-run back. (unless I'm doing something wrong)

If it works to lifestone out, rest x times and run back via 2nd short-cut it would cut the time in half pretty much.

After playing most of my first 3 play-through as melee classes and starting completely over as a mage/sorcerer, its definitely a different experience. Sitting back, being more strategic with enemy weaknesses and being more of a team manager are a big change of pace.

It does suck being so broke. I have 25 mil on my other file but now I'm just barely scrapping by and saving for new armor.

I thought they only reset after the first time you beat him?

i'm still surprised they listened and made the spawns in BBI more random. this makes replays much more fun.

this needs more acknowledgement.

Definitely the best aspect of BBI, I agree. Wish they expanded that to the world at large. Would have made the $40 purchase unquestionably worth it.

I never figured out how this looked like, was it just regular sky in post game or was it some surreal colours?

Regular blue sky. I think it even did all the variations as well: overcast; really overcast; so-overcast-it-looks-like-night, but I'm not too sure.

The only part that looked the way it was supposed to was when you went back to the Everfall, the sky was dark then. I wish they would have included a "Clear Sky" toggle in the options for NG+ers. Between BBI and postgame, I'm really tired of darkness for the sake of darkness.

Give me lush forests, sprawling deserts, and snow-covered mountains in DD2, please.

Really? Was it a recent patch? People on GFaqs confirmed it was still in when DA first released.

If so, boo that. They already made the second half of the game and Everfall utterly obsolete by allowing instant access to BBI, this would just really make me not want to kill the dragon.

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.
Been too busy the past few days to play or even check the thread. I miss you guys' pawns. =(

What's this about more dlc? Actually the digital version on PS3 was supposed to get some more ring dlc or sumtin..

I'm Voidhawk66 onthe 360 if anyone wants to borrow my poor level 20 support Mage pawn. He seems to buff and heal a lot!
I'm level 21, I'll hire your pawn later tonight. Mine is already have a support Mage, but whatever :) it's rare to get your pawn rented at this level, it seems.

Fuck. Downloading the Bitterblack armor DLC apparently removes all the gear that was vanilla DLC from the Black Cat.

Gotta try to remedy this.

Here's all the new DLC

Question for you, maomao. You might not know the answer, though.

How do other players see your pawn if they have one of the DLC armor equipped or have a DLC hairstyle but don't have that DLC downloaded themselves, or even the preview. Is your pawn even visible to people who don't at least have the preview downloaded? Would you be severely limiting your pawn if you equipped them with a DLC item?

How many of you guys have the DLC, or even just the preview downloaded?

What? I just downloaded this. I guess I should go check.

Yup. You were right. Dumbass, I am...should have listened to Sigurd!

Siggy knows what's up. =P

You are right, I don't know.

I think deleting the BB armor pack should restore the stuff in black cat, but I had some pieces goldforged already =(

So what do you mean, what gear disappeared? Because I'm at the Black Cat right now and all the vanilla DLC is still there.

Edit: I also have all the gear in storage. I haven't had anything disappear.

God i love this game, it was probably my favourite game of 2012 and i'm now absolutely hooked again with Dark Arisen.

But the AI of the pawns really drives me crazy, i spent so much time looking for pawns with spells and attack patterns that are to my liking but they really never do as i would like them to.

They really should add a deep customization feature for the behaviour of the pawns, I'm thinking of something like the Gambit System in Final Fantasy XII, that would really add to the game.

I been jonesin' for the game to ditch the inclination system and go to something Gambit-esque pretty much since I first started playing.

It's like, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Just flatter Matsuno a bit, Capcom.

Finals are done, hopped back on for the first time in over a week. As expected, giving my pawn (modeled after my wife) the trophy jacket and cursed king's belt (as in, nothing under the trophy jacket) made her dramatically more popular. I feel dirty.

I kinda wonder just how much of a role appearance plays in pawn recruitment rates. I do know that, anecdotally, my male pawns basically never get picked up, but anecdotes ain't data.

I started just making all my pawns pretty girls in the end. I've got principles and stuff, but they're highly negotiable.

Well, I'm not sure how well gambits CAN work given it's not only a truly real time system but is pretty much an Action game housed in an open RPG framework, but I'm sure they could've at least modified those into sliders, or you can make a priority list IE Guardian only above Pioneer just so they don't start wandering off when everything's dead.

So I equipped my pawn with a couple of the DLC items...namely, the lion's head armguard thingy. Could anyone who doesn't have the dlc or the free preview look at my pawn in the rift and tell me what's arm equipment she's wearing? PSN is Deified_Data

Maybe around lvl70 or so? I don't know, I started BBI at lvl200 on Normal; someone else could give you a better estimate.

Nothing happens to already dragonforged items.

So at level 200? I figure BBI wasn't too bad for you on normal mode?

I'm kind of at a junction where I don't know if I should take my level 63 character into BBI straight on normal or restart a new game + on hard mode and take on BBI with that.

At its heart the Gambit system is just a player-editable ordered list of if-then statements. It needn't be precisely like FFXII's system, but just being able to specify something like "If the Arisen's HP is less than 100% cast Anodyne, If Pawn's HP is less than 50% cast Anodyne, If enemy is weak to [element] cast [element spell]" would be a pretty dramatic improvement over the vagaries of the inclination system.

Doubly so if it could let you forbid a Pawn from using one of their weapons or let you make them use the standard version of a spell even if they have the High version learned.

I have her with me now, saved in Bloodless Stockade. If no one does it for you soon, I can later tonight when I get back on.

I did my BBI hard mode 1.0 run at level 150-160ish, and didn't have much issues with the mobs. My main is a mystic knight and had gear from UR Dragon, while my healer mage pawn also had UR Dragon items. Some of the later 1.0 hard mode bosses are difficult, but nothing impossible (rez'd maybe two or three times via wakestone on Daimon 1.0 hard mode). Its the most fun doing BBI at these levels in hard mode, since you level up incredibly fast. Maybe the only other non BBI boss that gives this much XP via grinding, is UR Dragon offline version.

BBI Hard mode 2.0 is certainly possible at level 180ish (I was around this level after just 1 run of BBI), but if you don't want to skip (aka just run by them, and head to the next loading area's door; these doors can be opened at any time after having defeated that chamber boss in your 1.0 run of BBI) the later chamber mobs/bosses you want to be level 200. Even at level 200, some of the later bosses and mobs will certainly be a challenge, even for the most dedicated and hardcore Dragons Dogma player. You might have to spend some wakestones on them, and will certainly spend wakestones on Daimon 2.0 hard mode (i used maybe 25-30)

I havent tried BBI on my PS3 character (while my PS3 character is around level 40...my xbox character was already level 150ish for Dark Arisen), so I can't say what levels are acceptable for normal mode BBI runs. I'm sure others in this thread can detail.

Just checked. Arms from the elbow down are naked, as if you are not wearing any gloves. Says "Unknown Item" when scrolling through equipment. I'd send you a screenie but I don't have the million RC to enlist her lol.

I downloaded the preview pack and can see the arms now. That is so lame, why did they do this? I was going to buy the DLC packs but not when we have to depend on other players to download a preview pack to even see the new stuff.

The old DLC could be seen by anyone correct? What is the problem with patching the new stuff in Capcom?

I haven't purchased most of the vanilla DLC armor, they don't appear for sale at my black cat anymore. I'm on xbox though, I wonder if it's a console specific problem.

It keeps the clear skies if you import a save, but if you do NG+ and try to get clear skies again, it won't work. I did it the same way I always did but it continued the fight like normal.

If you're on your first run through BBI and you haven't defeated Grigori yet, you will be locked out of 6 Notice Board quests that all give armor as rewards. You can get those armor pieces from looting and purification, though.

So at level 200? I figure BBI wasn't too bad for you on normal mode?

I'm kind of at a junction where I don't know if I should take my level 63 character into BBI straight on normal or restart a new game + on hard mode and take on BBI with that.

Most of the smaller enemies didn't give me too much trouble but the larger minibosses are a bitch with their health/defenses and the amount of damage they deal, a lot of them could take 70-90% of my life in one shot -- and I had all of the best vanilla weapons/armor Gold Forged.

I think BBI will be tough in the beginning for anyone (no matter their level) until they get the new armor/gear/weapons and DF them to at least Silver.

It makes no sense because all the new DLC is on the disc already.

Is the trophy set for Dark Arisen separate from the OG version, or does it use the same trophy set?

I'm only asking since I want to sell my vanilla copy and get Dark Arisen, but don't want to have to start over with my trophies.

It uses the exact same trophies. DA doesn't add anything to the list. It's exactly the same as vanilla, although it does update the name under your trophy list.

Uses the same trophy set. Dark Arisen doesn't add any new trophies either.

No problem, but I see B.A.L. has you covered!

Closure! Thanks for the help guys. It's very annoying that no one can see the gear you spent money on specifically to be unique...I like Olra's coat for my arisen, I guess. I suppose I'd only recommend the DA dlc packs for people who want to change the look of their arisen, not their pawn.

I purchased the dlc for vanilla but since I started a totally new game instead of porting over my old one none of it was in my storage when I started DA - I had to buy what I wanted from the Black Cat all over again. But yeah, on PS3 I have everything still available for purchase there, old and new dlc both.

It's a strange bug, I deleted the BB armor pack and the missing items reappeared for sale. So I bought them all, reinstalled the BB armor pack and lo and behold, now everything in black cat works correctly.

Hrmm. Well, glad it worked out. I could take or leave the new armor pack at this point considering most players can't even see it.

I've gotten to the point where I have 6 pieces of level 3 armor, 3 pieces of level 3 weapons and only 22k RC to purify. That's more of a testament to how quickly I blaze through Daimon runs on my ranger than anything. Explosive arrows are OP :p. It's too bad that I've pretty much finished the game, though.

Went on my first escort quest, and the game was gracious enough to say "Hey you traveled all this way... know what you need... a dragon right before your destination". Thanks...
