Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

Just got to BBI's
living armor
boss last night. I feel like I'm stuck - even with a silver-forged Ascalon I'm clearly not strong enough to to defeat some of the enemies in BBI (like the bandits who can practically one-shot me), but the weapons and armor I'm finding in BBI aren't stronger than the stuff I have. They might be stronger if I dragonforge them, but I'm not strong enough to beat a cursed dragon in a reasonable amount of time (read: less than 20 minutes.) I'm sure I could use some more levels, but that's pretty slow going.

My pawn is ready to be ogled. I gold forged the chain mail bracers so at least she is moderately protected. As already psn id is hycran, pawn is vespian. I almost went with the silver breast plate, but if I'm going to hang her tits out I might as well go whole horse.

Yay, I'm done! Finally got my 3 remaining armaments, so no more quests available.
And I killed Ur-Dragon online, got almost the full Abyssinal armor set (no helmet for some reason).

So yeah now the only things that may make me stay in Gransys are :
- Getting to Lv.200 (I'm 186 and my pawn's 183)
- Getting the 3 secret augments scrolls I'm missing
- Maxing the few vocations I have left and getting every powers (won't be of use though, I'm already steamrolling through everything)

The first one is easy with a few Daimon runs but the 2 others will be a pain for no real gain.
I think I'll just get to Lv.200 and call it a day.

Just sent you a couple lv2 weps. Hope that helps.

Also sent out lv2 stuffs to the others here who asked. Enjoy!

Finally reset pawn's inclinations to something effective. It's surprising just how useless a bad mix can make them. I was convinced filling out their bestiary would be more important than inclinations but not really.

My lyncean sight is ready.

Alright, I'm post "main boss fight" now.
In the Everfall. Any tips for running around there?
Is it just "fall down and go in" or should I tackle in a certain way.

I'm not super high in level (46) and I just switched to MK to try something new.

Well they crash at your place after a certain point, so close enough. This is a big reason you do not want Asalam as a love interest, though I could see Montebank being useful.

Neat.. time to look out for potential mates to give random shit.

So I'm a little confused. I'm lvl 17, and it seems like all the areas i have quests for are way too difficult for me to do... I guess I progressed on the main quest to the capital, then went back to the starting town. did the catch a theif quest and some notice board stuff.

what's confusing me is I have a quest for everfall (which I think i read is lvl 45?) it's really hard knowing what areas I should go to. Should I do the Quina quest? Are there certain areas of the map that are kind of lvl specific?

The full Everfall is later in the game, but you go there early on as part of the main story. Also, you should definitely do the Quina quest first (Lost and Found), as it automatically fails when you do the Everfall quest.

Oh god, thank you. Ok. I really wanted to not read a guide or anything but its kinda hard... I'd just like a general level guide for the beginning, where to go where not to etc

The farther away from Gran Soren you go, the rougher it will be. You will know when you're moving beyond mostly goblin/wolf zone when pawns say something about the enemies being stronger there. The hardest thing is escort quests into unfamiliar areas (I'm looking at you, Reynard), but exploring and taking risks is half the fun. If you prepare to take a bit of a beating and run from things when you're in bad shape, you will be okay. It will smooth out really fast.

If you want some security when striking out for new locations, carry a ferrystone with you for instant escape back to Gran Soren.

Also, if you care about quest completion you might want to look at the wikia quest list. There is sometimes no warning when advancing the main quest will just cancel a whole bunch of side stuff.

Did you do all the noticeboard quests ?
The encampment has 1 board and there is 2 in the city.

Also if your finding stuff difficult you can get higher level pawns to help if you have the crystals for it.

Jam! There is no Abyssinal Helm, though; just the Coat, Bracers, and Greaves for defeating Ur, and the Abyssinal Outfit for killing Grigori on Hard Mode.

Now... Behold, the foulest of all monsters: the dreaded JPEG compression!

yCCUFll.jpg

My 2nd time killing the online Ur-Dragon.

The new start-up message said something about defeating the Ur-Dragon so I figured I'd give it a shot. Fought him about 6 times in an hour and his health stayed at 3-4 bars left, I took a break to shower and stuff, came back and he flew in with just a tiny bit of health left.

4 or 5 Stone Jungles later and he was re-dead. Didn't get anything outside of the normal drops, so I guess the message is just their way of letting new people know of the Ur fight.

Sitting on 9/10 macabre statues. Damnit, where is the last. :p

You mean the last 21! There's 30 in total. :p

Awesome, thanks. I've been trying to do the stolen tome quest, but man getting through all those bandits is TOUGH. Maybe I just suck haha.

I dont think i did the encampment one... i didnt even know there were notice boards til I read about it. The encampment got destroyed, and I looked but didnt see one after the hydra battle

Yes. Same dragon, different modes. The two are not connected.
Which is good for trophy hunters because otherwise it'd be bullshit.

And yeah, I fought him at about half health, got him down a significant degree, left, and came back to find out he was nearly dead and in the grace period. Could get a pile of Abyssinal gear to sell with the way things are.

The bandits are definitely a challenge at the beginning. My first "oh shit, what have I done" moment was an escort quest into banditland + a huge monster + dead of night. Reynard was totally doing his best to kill himself too.

If you're having a hard time, try different skill setups for your class. I started as strider and that snare-line move was a godsend early on for bandits and lizards.

Speaking of gran soren quests... i got a lot for animals I haven't even seen. Those types of quests won't ever be abandoned I take it?

From what I can tell, those 'noticeboard' quests for killing certain numbers of animals/enemies don't get affected by plot points that shut other sidequests down.

Haha yeah. I was like.... am I supposed to be here? Oh shit theres like 20 of them!

Thanks though, I'll look into trying diff skills out and stuff. Like I said, I've been trying to go through without seeing or reading anything, but it's proven tricky :p

Just spent two hours trying to kill Daimons second form. Seems impossible. Got him down to two health bars but killed all my pawns with that stupid blue suck everyone in thing. I feel like I don't do any damage and need level 3 bitterblack weapons but they seem to only come from daimon so I'm at a loss

You're gonna die a bit early on, but that's part of what's great about heading out into unknown territory in this game and you will soon feel like a boss. That sense of being in a lot of danger when you have no clue where you're going and it's getting dark is great, though. "It's getting dark, I have 1 rotten apple and I hear something growling" - good times.

If you just want to beat him, go Ranger.

Use Dragon's Blink if you have it and Gold Forge it if you can, a Gold Forged Dragon's Glaze would also work well. Bring as many Conqueror's Periapts as you have (preferably 20+), ~30 Large Mushrooms, and 10fold him in the face while using 4 periapts at a time.

Is this worth buying if you already bought the original? Really loved DD but finding it hard to plop the cash down for such an expensive expansion.

Haha yeah exactly, that's why i din't really want to read a guide, just wanted some friendly nudges. half the fun of games like this is being a noob and not knowing things.

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.

And just to be clear, this only happens in the beginning. The well quest and the quests that take you to that bandit area are really the only places that make you go "Wtf, is this right"? Everything after that (minus an escort or two) are pretty well balanced and appropriate. It doesn't maintain that level of difficulty (unfortunately).

Well crap. It seemed like no matter how many Utilitarian elixer's I used my pawn kept defaulting to Scather as her primary instead of secondary. I shoved about 20 more potions down her gullet and she entirely forgot how to Scather...

I did not know that could happen.

Crap.

It's not too much of a spoiler, but you don't necessarily have to fight them to complete that quest. Think like a bandit

Edit - a parkour bandit

Full hellfire? Nice!

Yeah, I actually have two full Hellfire sets from getting so many dupes when trying for the greaves; my pawn wears the set with the best perks and I wear the other stuff when I go Mystic Knight.

I just need the Carrion Greaves and I will have all of the new armor.

I have so many pairs of Carrion Greaves it's not even funny. =(

It's a bit disappointing that the rare set isn't visually different from the normal one.
Me in full Oblivion, or my pawn in full Shadow, you'd think they're twins.

Cool, managed to get the killing blow on Ur Dragon 232. What a fucking boring fight. After several battles where I seemingly did fuck-all damage, he appears with a little bit of health left.

Ummm so I just got to the Ur Dragon for the first time and it swoops in to say one piece of dialog and disappears. It looked like it had not health bars. Wtf is going on?

EDIT: Well shit guys...way to kill it the second I get there lol...my luck is terrible

Still on my first run through the game and finally beat the dragon next to the
Shadowfort
at level 33. Took me a while @_@ but I just finished up the last wrym hunt quest and might do some more quests before I meet with the Duke. Loving this game.
