Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

You can fine tune the difficulty by having less pawns. Starting from scratch on hard with no pawns is harder than anything I've ever played.

You can get very good loot from soulflayer canyon, but each treasure box and gathering spot has a fixed drop list, the better items have a lower drop rate etc. You have to farm each spot by kill yourself in order to get the best loot.

I was thinking of doing that after i beat the game. Doing a hard mode run with just me and my pawn. I just thought the game would be as hard the beginning was so I was a little disappointed when it wasn't. Basically all i do is just run up to monster and spam hundred kisses and they die in like 2 seconds. I don't even have to climb most enemies anymore. I think I may have gotten a really good drop on these daggers I'm using though. The Ar on them is 457 and nothing else in the shops is comes even close to 400 yet. So I might have gotten a little lucky on the drop I'm thinking. I didn't know loot was randomed like that until someone else told me. Wish I would've known that before. I would've went in there with just my pawn to get better loot. I guess i can go back later since chests seem to respawn after a few days and try again.

No matter what you do the game will eventually plateau in difficulty. When you cut down on pawns, go alone, or even put it on hard mode the game responds by increasing the exp points you get, meaning you will eventually outlevel any difficulty spikes. It's a bit of a shame and I agree the game would be better if it had a better progression curve, but there is still plenty of fun to be had. Where are you in the game now? If you're still relatively early it might be worth restarting on hard mode. If you're towards the end there's still a bit of challenge to wring out of the post game. And I would recommend hard mode for BBI.

Cleared BBI for the first time and I'm done with the game. Level 65 Warrior as my main pawn with some of the most godliest gear. Quite happy.

Time to move on to something else :)

Theres no way you have all the best great or even close to it. Don't stop the cycle of eyeball return (top grind)

Did the patch restore Airtight flasks to the shop in Gran Soren, or are they still gone? I ended my game and realized I lost my desire to replay, but I'm curious nevertheless.

I have good enough gear to justify my time with the game. I have no intention of having a level 200 pawn.

I have the best sword, helm and chest armour possible, all gold badged dragon forged. When no one is using my pawn and I've seen all the content the game has to offer, then I'm fine.

Just bought Dark Arisen today brand new (UK)

Is there supposed to be a game manual inside the box? coz all i got is a 2 page disgrace with the PS3 controller on it

Is that right

Hmm, I'm a few hours into this game but is there any way to buy port crystals or trade for port crystals with someone? Traversing back and forth early on with only one port crystal is becoming way difficult... I actually like doing it but it's a massive time sink, especially when I get back home from work at 10 or 11 PM.

You can find up to 5 during the course of the game, AFAIK.

When this game first got released - I almost wrote it off. Bought the game, started it up - title screen music bugged the hell out of me (silly thing, I know). Started as a Mage, found combat to be tedius/annoying - didn't even make it to Gran Soren before tossing it aside as a 'maybe I'll get back to it later....' thing. This was near the release of the game.

Went away on vacation awhile ago, BF starts playing it - gets hooked, trades in the original game for the re-release, starts gushing about it when I get back. I decided to pick it up again - pretty much sprint to Gran Soren, switch my vocation to Assassin - and have been having a blast since.

Level 38 now, doing random side quests - might work towards wrapping up the main story soon. Game can be a hell of a time sink, keep thinking 'I should take a break now, but just do X first...', then another few hours pass by.

They should just remove original DD pawns entirely from the rift and game for DD:DA players, I think there are enough DA pawns to get by even at the lower levels now.

Eternal Ferrystone is the shit, I abuse the living daylights out of it :)

multipul escort quests to Bloodwater Beach? no problem!

As much as I try, I'm having troubles really getting into the game. I've only completed a few quests so far, and I've no real desire to continue playing. I'm a huge Dark Souls fan, so it might be related to that...

Love Dark Souls also - DD is quite a bit different though, but finding that I'm enjoying those differences. I like the larger/multi-enemy fights/etc, where DS tends to be more '1v1' fights with a few exceptions here and there.

Took me a bit to get into it also - hell, bought it at release, played maybe 2 hours then didn't touch it again until last week - but kind of hooked now. Although does seem like in your early/mid 30s the difficulty drops back off again, but BBI seems to pick things up, looking forward to actually standing a chance there in a few days.

Free you say? What is it exactly?

Fiend-luring Incense (automatically added to the player's storage): Causes stronger combinations of enemies to spawn in the Rotunda of Dread and The Black Abbey arenas, providing the Arisen with new challenges.

5 items added to Barroch's stock, namely the Godly Analeptic, Vivifying Incense, Fiendish Extract, Decade-Dried Harspud and Dreamwing Nostrum, all of which were previously only available by looting, or through the purifying of Bitterblack Novelties.

So i finally bought Dark Arisen today and transferred (successfully) my previous save data from the vanilla game.
I'm at the beginning right now in Cassardis (before fighting the hydra) and i looked for the woman in the pier at night who is suppossed to take you to Bitterblack island but she's not there.
What gives?

Did you go at night?

If she's not there at night you might have to make it to gran soren or something, I'm not sure though.

She will be there a bit later. After visiting Gran Soren. Or after Hydra fight.

I checked out the Rotunda of Dread and upon entry it spawned 4 Elder Ogres and 5 or 6 Eliminators. The second time in and I was greeted with 2 prisoner GoreCyclopes (unchained), Sirens and Eliminators.

Hey guys, I got a dumb question. I borrowed DD vanilla from a buddy, and really like what I played. I want to buy my own copy now. If I buy Dark Arisen can I load my vanilla save? I didn't get very far, but I'd like to keep my characters and stuff.

Got to finally answer my own question. The old save loaded up like nothing ever happened. Same locale, same equipment, etc. I'm going to miss the butt rock they had blaring during the DD title screen.

Yep: I have more argence and giant fish than I can swing a stick at :)

Cheers for the info guys. It seems like there's a good reason to grind the big D now :)

Can anyone tell me what the update does ? i started the game , and talked to olga but nothing special happenned .

Go the Olra speech option where you can buy DLC, and you'll see it there as a piece of DLC that's free. 'Buy' it from there, wait for it to download and install, save your game, quit out to the title screen, then come back into the game.

Ok another question. I just did the quest where you fight the cockatrice in gran soren. There weren't any problems but I don't think i killed it or if i did the body just disappeared. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe it flew away after I damaged him to a certain amount (I think i had him on the last life bar before he disappeared)? Is that suppose to happen or was I supposed to kill him?

It's supposed to happen unless you're powerful enough. Same as the griffin from the earlier quest. If you beat them then and there you don't have to worry about chasing them down. Kinda cool how you can cut the quests short.

I know it's a petty thing - but the butt rock turned me off the game so much when I first got it, played a large factor into why I ended up ignoring it for so long before picking it up again recently.

Anyone have tips on easy/worth-crafting stuff?

I have an abundance of materials/combineable items - but the UI for it is kind of the shits, and I don't have the patience to sort through everything.

Think I crafted 2 things in the course of 100 hours. Assuming you keep yourself stocked with curatives, crafting is pointless, and carrying around mats is super pointless.

I do make healing stuff like potent greenwarith. Other than that, doesn't seem like you need to. You can just go grab it from witchwood and pick up large mushrooms for stamina.

Or just buy them in town with your millions of gold >.>

I got this same spawn in the Black Abbey, 1 Nine-Fold takes out an Eliminator then I jumped to the ledges on right with the treasure chests and Sniped each of the Elder Ogres... dropped crap!

So I'm continuing my quest in Dark Arisen, and everything is fine and dandy, but I noticed that my main pawn hasn't been getting recruited by other players. In addition, I went into the rift to get some more powerful guys, and they all have the "no present" icon which means that they're vanilla Dragon's Dogma players. Is this due to the fact I imported my save game? Am I "stuck" in DD version of the rift?

You're not stuck, its just that most of the newer pawns are higher levels than you. You'll see a lot of them around level 50.
This is also probably the reason your pawn doesn't get hired, mine was hired very rarely until I hit 50, and she's a small girl (apparently more people hire female pawns). Now I get 100,000 rift crystals every couple of days.

Ah, gotcha. So I'm just late to the party. Good to know. I'm level 39, so I'll catch up soon enough.

Yeah I roll around with an all-girl crew. They've been kicking serious ass all along, so I don't see a reason to change.

I already own the original dragons dogma but barely played. Now I want to play it but should I get dark arisen or just play what I have? I don't want to be locked out of the new content but I'm also worried that the change to fast travel may make the game less interesting as I have heard can be the case. Any recommendations?

Getting around is quite a pain even in Dark Arisen, I can tell you that much.

OK so I
just killed the dragon and then I think I beat the game? I got a cut scene and then it put me back at Cassardis and then it tells me that I need to go to Gran Soren. When I get there, I have to go meet the king. He proceeds to go crazy and have me arrested and then I jump down this well or pit
. So can anyone explain what the hell is going on? Did I beat the game or is there more after I finish doing the pit area? And how do i get new skills and access my equipment? I haven't seen a vendor down in the pit area (granted i just got there but all I see are pawns and npcs). Can I leave the pit area or will the guards attack me if I ferrystone out of the pit?

Trimmed out kinda spoilery stuff, just in case.
You're at the same point in the game as me, you're almost at the end. You need to use a ferrystone to get out, nobody will attack you if you do (that I've noticed so far). You can jump back in any time anyway.

Yeah I just went back and edited out the spoilery stuff. Wasn't thinking that someone new might come and read this. Ok well I have the eternal ferrystone so that shouldn't be a problem. Do you know where I go to access my equipment etc
since inn isn't there anymore?
