Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

I'll just suck at grabbing then. I always ended up at its hind leg somehow.
Also its frost aura is really annoying. I always frozen when I reach its heart. Is Immolation null that frostaura somehow?

Dunno to be honest, probably not. I've never had much of a problem with it myself haha.

Thunderwyvern have similar aura, but the effect it just continous damage, not making me drop from its back.
I've read the enemy list for The Fallen City post-Daimon. I'm not sure if I want that actually. Any tips on surviving such carnage for first time post-Daimon BBI travelling Arisen here?

Well, my strategy as a Magick Archer is just to vortex trail everything to a wall and then use ninefold bolt or ricochet hunter (depending on the location) to kill them. The whole room is a joke when you are able to crowd control everything that spawns in there except dragons.

As for other classes, I think my advice is to jump on the roof (this can be done by taking a left when you walk into the room) and then try to fight the dragons on the roofs themselves. The other enemies that spawn in the room are not able to get up to a lot of the roofs (especially those the dragons hover over most of the time) so it's not too bad.

If all else fails though, run like fucking crazy to Daimon's room and then heal up once inside.

How much RC have you gotten from me so far? I've been taking your pawn places (and released it a few times with free items) but it's always hard to know how much RC someone has actually gotten out of it. I wish the game was more transparent in that regard.
First time it was 110k RC, then 73k, 60k, 45k, 43k. Not exactly sure of the total since I don't remember all of the amount she's been released from you.

I'm currently hunting for death. Farming Daimon is pretty easy now. Man, farming for level 3 bitterblack gear is depressing. If Daimon doesn't drop it, then its only from the chest. Sometimes I get it without any enchantment on it lol.

Good to know you were actually getting it. I will do a longer clear later today so hopefully you will get some good RC from that.

Really though I was more interested in if you actually got the lvl 3 weapons/armor I was unloading each time. I've just been giving them to every pawn I take along because I barely need anything from them anymore.

I find farming the gear to be a bit easier if you do the runs one after or another. I'm not sure on the respawn times, but, I've noticed when I actually go to farm Daimon a lot of the times many of the rooms haven't respawned so I can just run through really quickly.

When I release a pawn, I usually give a 5 star rating (unless the pawn really sucks).

EDIT: Released Moncho and Cassandra.I gave Moncho a Volant White, Abyssinal Coat, Abyssinal Bracers and Abyssinal Greaves, and I gave Cassandra a BBI Gear Lv 3.

It took me like 35 minutes, but I killed the two zombie dragons in BBI, they dragonforged most of my equipment as well. Feels good man.

Jackben

bitch I'm taking calls.
I have some pawn mechanics questions.

Is there a guide out there I can look at concerning inclinations? My main pawn when sitting at a pub says she will primarily focus on utilitarian tactics. How do I see other traits? Also how does pawn hiring work?

Are the random pawns at the beginning of the game in Encampment still other online player's pawns? I just started playing and hired a random ranger chick. I bought a leather cap for her to wear to boost her defenses and it says I can't take it back since it's a gift. I don't care about the money spent, I just think it'd be cool if whenever I release her from service she goes back to the player with better equipment than they left her with.

They will receive the RC, but only a 3 star rating.
That explains why I have a really low RC amount with 3 star rating sometimes. Pawns I hired die all the time. Always wondered if they get RC too. Now I know.

Thanks Persona RS! I got 382K RC. Will take your pawn out for a spin on Daimon and if I can find Death too.

Yep. I noticed runs completed in quick succession without resting have empty rooms. I was surprised. So used to seeing them respawn when I'm doing a run.

That's good then, I've been trying to unload stuff like crazy and you seem to still be in the early stages of farming (or was a few days ago). Where I am now I am only looking for very specific pieces so I'll purify armor and if it's not what I want I just give it to a random pawn when I release them lol.

Anyone playing on 360 these days? I picked up this gem over the holidays and it has consumed me like no other game has from these past few years.

If anyone wants drag my pawn along feel free to add me and I'll try and return the favor.

Made it up to lvl 32 so far, got sinew from the fighter class, which wasn't very fun. Switched to Magick Archer, which seems a little more fun. I may just end up switching back to Strider because so far I like it the most, I was disappointed in assassin but I didn't stay one long lol.

a few pics as a Magick Archer with shitty gear ;)

Currently lvl 53, finished the post game without farming much Everfall or doing the Ur-Dragon. Slowly working on BBI, and i'm loving it.

If anyone wouldn't mind dragging my pawn around on PS3, i could use the RC.

ID Echelon79 or Echelon079, cannot remember of the top of my head.
Pawns name is Echelonia. Currently a 53 fighter, also maxed strider/ranger.

Thanks and much appreciated

Zenax I think I got a lvl3 item from you and a bunch of rc. Thanks for that. I decided to give the gear to my pawn for now so I have something to work towards on my arisen. Now I see why people need so many rc! Please tske mine out again if you have time.

I left gran soren and there's a griffin stealing a cow. Can I kill the griffin

My mage pawn sometimes imbues my weapons with fire before the griffin lands which lets me knock it down by setting its wings on fire. It always goes for the cow and it takes off with it before I can do further damage though.

I don't think you can kill than particular Griffin. You need to finish Griffin's Bane firt before you can fight any regular Griffins that spawn near Gransys in Estan Plains.

EDIT: Anybody want a free rift crystal? I want to bring along lower level pawn now in order to level up faster. So if you lower than me in level, that is below 130, add my PSN 130. Sorcerer or mage preferred ;D

This is incorrect. Griffins can spawn *and* be killed even before you finish Griffin's Bane. The only requirement as far as I can observe is finishing the event where the Griffin attacks the carriage in front of Gran Soren's gate before sodding off to the horizon.

Also, Explosive Rivet/Volley do wonders for Frost Wyrms, if you don't know. You don't even need to grab them; just shoot the exploding arrows to the general chest area and hit them, the explosion will open and hurt the heart area badly as well. Very convenient!

The damned Griffin in Eradication Site never land, which pisses me to no end. Same with Generic Wyvern near Gransys. This is why prefer Cockcatrice, which never flies in the sky. Much more polite for me that way.

Is the Explosive Rivet attack triggerable by magick bow default attack? I thought it only activated by physical strike.

Yea, only physical. No worries though, just launch multiple Rivets on general chest area, close in, attack, -Boom Kabooom-, Frost Wyverns will *always* collapse. Just repeat over and over again. You don't even have to specifically target the heart for the end kill, since the explosion will cover it.

Hard mode does live to its name, though the extra exp let leveled really fast. Just now I gained 20 levels, and most of that time I spent on Everfall, not BBI. I wonder how much EXP I can gain with Blessed Flower in BBI.

You need to shoot the Gryphon, or get in front of it so it sees you for it to land, but that doesn't always work; the one that spawns by Hillfigure Knoll is easier to fight as there is less room for it to land.

That Wyvern was screwed up in DA, it landed all the time in vanilla DD. Now, it usually just flies off under the ocean until the "Quest Cancelled" pops up. If you really want to fight it, just go to Bluemoon Tower.

My pawn is about to turn 80. She was a Mage from 1-50 and then a Sorcerer until now. I fear that her HP and Def might be a bit low. Should I use the next 20 levels to level her as a Warrior to gain some more HP?
I'm in BBI right now and I killed the first boss.

I am also considering this, my pawn dies all the time lol... she is a pansy... but I have to say, I use that augment that gives your pawns a strength and magic boost when reviving and so in some respects I don't really care... i just run around and keep reviving them... as long as she gets off those bolid, maelstrom, it's all good....

Also to the poster above who mentioned they only got mediocre loot from BBI in their first run, in my first run i got the hallowed dragon and 3 dragon arisen staffs , plus dragons Ire bow... if anyone wants a dragon arisen i think i sold 2 but have one left... i also have a bunch of immortal boots, and some warrior/fighter gear I can't use... oh and maybe important? I also have 2 drake tears and a wyrm tear... if anyone wants to trade a drakes tear for the last of the three? or some sorceror or assasin armor or rings, i would be down with that... I think the drakes tear gives you better loot, or so it indicates... also I'm not sure if cursed gear works, i know it can be given, but the outcome?? I'm not too sure about... like if it's coded assasin/sorceror because I picked it up?
anyway , if anyone is into trading I would be down with it... I need assasin/sorc gear and will give any other gear away... possibly even cursed gear because I don't have enough RC to purify it all anyway....

can anyone confirm some of my statements?

psn id - JoeCanada if anyone wants to trade or wants a dragon arisen for minimal loot (don't really care about this one)

man i killed these and then quickly went to the stone to re-summon my pawn who died and when i came back out of the rift, they were back again!!

farming opportunity?? but hardest farm ever at level 104..... damn they cast alot of spells.

Well, did most of the quest short of the Trappings of Evil, Visions of the End quests and From a Different Sky questline. Forget that. Might finish the former two quest in the next playthrough.
That last reveal as Savan was pretty epic. Funny enough, I was so super overleveled that my pawn one shotted Salde with a single melee attack. I was like WHAT?
It shows the 4 most hired support pawns during the credits. Its a nice touch. I have Sawako, ZenaxPure's pawn at 22 hours. Didn't realize I did that MANY BBI runs.
Onto Hard mode and level 200 hopefully without having to grind too much. Gotta hunt Ur-dragon too. Come on Grace Period!!

Haha my bad for that see what happened was I previously hired your pawn and she got killed (see post# 8859) so I went and rehired her so I could rank her and give you something (would've given you a Lvl. 3 armor, I thought I had an extra one at the time but I guess I didn't).

Just beat Grigori for the first time. Whew, that was an epic boss battle. I'm also happy to find out that there's post game content in the game besides BBI. The enemies are stronger, new weapons and item drops, etc. I made the mistake of doing an escort quest right in the beginning of the post game, because I didn't realize that the monsters would be tougher. The person got killed, ha ha. Oh well.

Just defeated Awakened Daimon. Damn, while the first form could be chipped easily by Ninefold Bolts, the Awakened Form is tougher. The thing is, I can defeated quickly, while he cast Rift Portal because I use Demon's Periapt. Seriously periapt is OP.

Now I have cleared BBI for the second time, cleared NG+, and hit level infinity, one left thing that I need to do is defeating the Ur-Dragon, and I'm done with Dragon's Dogma for good.

I think I'm gonna set my pawn as a Fighter for a while, can't find a good one to save my life and it's really useful when playing as a mage (which I still need to max).

Also thanks to one of the other DD threads I decided to go back and mess with strider some. It's a pretty strong class for Daimon, leaping stone + skull splitter was doing like a full bar of his HP even without the strength buff.

one left thing that I need to do is defeating the Ur-Dragon, and I'm done with Dragon's Dogma for good.

Ur-dragon is kind of a push over if you've already done BBI stuff and are max level. Don't expect much besides a bad frame rate.

Part of the 200 club now. Gonna try magic archer for a while. Close to learning all abilities for my arisen for all vocations. All I need is Ur and beat the game one more time for the platinum.

Is there anyway to manipulate the armor you get from purifying bitterblack lvl 3 armor? I tried godsbane over and over. It doesn't change the armor I get when I purify. A quick google search tells me there is a queue and nothing can really change that. So I'll just have to keep purifying and pray lol?
ZenaxPure, how did you get your Carrion gear so fast?

ZenaxPure

I just ran Daimon a shit load. I actually have more than just the carrion stuff too, hood/boots of oblivion and hellfire helm/pants as well. I just made my Daimon runs really fast, skip all the trash, run to him, then jump on his head and thousand kisses him to death, a run from start to Daimon death only takes like 15 minutes tops.

ZenaxPure, how did you get your Carrion gear so fast?

You can manipulate the items you get from the Weapons Lv 3, Armor LV 3 and Gear Lv 3 by switching your arisen and pawn's vocation. Each BBI Weapon, Gear and Armor have multiples outcomes, depending on the main vocations.

For example, say you want an armor for Sorcerer. Before you purify a BBI Armor Lv 3, switch your arisen and pawn's vocation to either Mage or Sorcerer, and then purify de item.

Instead, if you want an armor for Warrior, change your arisen and pawn's vocation to either Warrior or Fighter and then purify.

Jump? No need to jump. Blast arrows in his face. :p

I tend to play magick archer most of the time, so no blast arrows. I've found my method faster anyhow though, pop immolation and just climb and thousand kiss him. Like really, immolation does a full bar of health by the time I make it to his head (again, without str buffs).

Blast arrows are still strong too of course though. I mostly don't like how much they weigh.

Oh, as for the loot, you can manipulate it, but, you're still bound to 3 items each time. It's nice for filling in gaps of what you're missing, but, it's still RNG ridden.

It's not possible to give purified BBI equipment.

Yeah, that is what I did on my strider run last night (though I didn't use them since leaping stone + skull splitter was doing a full bar of HP each time, they were more of a backup plan if that combo failed me).

As for the gear, I've been giving away unpurified stuff. I really need to dump the weapons, I have like 7 unpurified lv 3 weapons atm.

Indeed. But you can gift cursed lv. 3 gear, and the giftee can change his/her Arisen and pawn to a blue vocation to (hopefully) get a sorcerer staff.
