Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

Where can I find a decent magic sword for my MK? Something good enough to beat
Ur Dragon
in a timely manner.

You're best off just using Dragon's Dogma and having a pawn enchant you. Honestly I think the "best" magick sword you can get before that is is eden's warden

Okay I finally finished vanilla Dragon's Dogma. Is it a good idea to start Dark Arisen with a new game plus?

I am fairly sure that Magick Cannon takes into account both strength and magick damage, so either or both will work.

Oh that's cool. I'm half a health bar away from killing
Ur Dragon
and for some reason my cannon shots dont damage him. I thought they locked onto the vulnerable spots. My warrior wasn't able to hit the
wing tips that are out of reach
. Which is why I switched since my pawn is a fighter and the other pawns aren't hitting the spots.

Well, the cannon is probably attempting to seek out the vulnerable areas, but since it may be on his back or wings, it's running into some dead meat on the way through and not doing any damage. You're probably gonna have to climb to get the last bits.

By the way, Mystic Knight has its own enchant, which is a rather large +Mag Atk buff. Why not use that to increase your damage?

Should I be worried about the corrupt save issue? Haven't seen it mentioned in the last few pages and I haven't received a patch so I assume it's not fixed?

I'm trying to hunt for the following in BBI with no success, I don't even know if they're lv 1 or lv 2 armor, does anyone have the following? And pics if possible?

Persecutor's Mask
Tormenter's Mask

Traveler's Hood
Traveler's Vest

Assault Boots
Crested Armguards
Blessed Sleeves
Novice's Coat

I've had three Persecutor's Masks drop, and they were always from the Eliminators.
Assault Boots were the first good upgrade I had drop (for my pawn), and I am pretty sure that they were lvl 2. I thought that all lvl 1 armors were just what was in vanilla anyway?
Blessed Sleeves were the second good upgrade for my pawn (which were recently replaced) and I think those were also lvl 2.
I think I had a Traveller's Hood, but I redid the purification since it's not something I wanted. It just looks like a feather cap for the icon.

I'll check to see if I still have them in the bank. What kind of screenshots were you wanting specifically?

Very disappointed in this game, GAF.
Trying very hard to find the enjoyment in it and I'm not seeing it. :/ I had very high hopes

People are going to suggest that either: a) you level up a bunch or b) farm Everfall gear.
The easiest way to go about farming Everfall gear is to use something like this (sorry if old news):

(the Everfall pngs) http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/626514-dragons-dogma/faqs

or

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/626514-dragons-dogma/63063105 (the actual chest number might be wrong, but as the creator said, you can still tell what the chest contains after the first piece of gear appears)

There's also: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/dragons-dogma/161277-everfall-loot-locations-notes.html

Just save at a chest, open it and if it's not something you want, use the Godbane and hit retry. This is by far the most boring way to play the game though. I grabbed everything I needed in under four hours, but it was the most boring four hours out of the 60 played.

You can also pretty easily get most of your gear dragonforged (it has to be at least one star against the Drake) during post-game. Just set a port crystal
right around the entrance to the Quarry that's closest to Gran Soren, because a Drake hangs out there on top of the one in Devilfire.
. Just get it down to the point in which you only need to hit it one more time to kill it, and then run as far as you can until the game will let you save. Turn around and run back towards it, saving as many times as it will allow, the closer you get. Then just finish it off. If nothing is forged, Godsbane and retry. Sleep for seven days to respawn it. You can do this to the one in
Devilfire
also, but it seems super glitchy, and prone to flying off the screen and never returning at any point during the fight.

Do you speak of the new expansion or the game as a whole? Because the latter is leaps and bounds above the normal content in a good way (Beyond a few things).

Was Strider and Fighter the only option in the Demo? That's all that I can remember, and I remember both of them boring me to death. The entire reason I even bothered looking at this game again was due to the maelstrom gif. I had no idea that was in the game.

Thanks for that, i'll put that to good use. Any advice on when I should take out the
Ur Dragon
? I'm currently using Dragon's Vein upgraded twice. Is it worth going out of the way to get Dragon's Pain or should I just aim straight for Heaven's Key?

Both classes actually get a lot better. The demo had some moves for the Fighter, but the Strider's attacks were pretty boring.

IMO, Mystic Knight and Assassin are the most fun.

Yeah, I've played the game a lot since then, so I know that they eventually get a lot better. The demo just didn't have enough options to make them seem all that impressive. My first playthrough was as a Sorcerer and my second was Assassin. I plan on doing a hard MK run (or maybe Sorc again...dunno) next, but finishing up BBI as an MA right now.

Oh hmm, I thought you were talking about Dragon's Pain (which for an Assassin, I'd just stick with). Regardless, both of the "Dragon's" daggers are better for an Assassin that has a Mage/Sorc buffer with them. If you don't plan on carrying a buffer around all of the time, you might pick up Heaven's Key just to have the holy enchant for certain enemies, but BBI has elemental weaknesses all over the place. Holy, Ice and Elec seem to be the big three there.

How the fuck are you supposed to kill Wraiths reasonably quickly? Each fight with them is a major chore in Dark Arisen, unbelievably boring. I try to use Ricochet Hunter on them, but it doesn't deal that much damage at all.

Anyone? Would really love to be able to speed up my battles with those enemies. They seriously hamper my enjoyment of this expansion.

Basic classes are generally pretty basic for the first few ranks, since you need skill points to upgrade a few basic things like the basic combos, the deflect from shield for fighter, and maybe the roll with strider? Strider is also very weak at the beginning with dagger, so you're going to be spamming certain dagger skills, climbing and range attacks, even when fully upgraded, I think basic classes are a bit lackluster, so changing to hybrid/advance vocation might help. (warrior sucks imo =P)

So try finish everfall, upgrade a few skills and try out different vocations and switching a few pawns for different strategies to see if you like it.

What are the wraith enemies, the red phantom things? As a Magick Archer: just use your basic shots. They die in 1-2 hits depending on the bow you have (the one that does elec damage with your basic shot kills them fast) as well as having a Mage/Sorc using the Holy Enchantment on you. You can also take them out using a staff, but it helps to have that enchanted as well with something or just make sure you have Levin. They seem to be weak against Holy/Elec, and you can also kill them with Ingle, but it seems like they take one shot of three and disappear, so it's slower that way.

Yep, meant the red phantoms. Thanks, will try that out, I honestly don't think I've tried using regular shots on them. Dunno which magick bow I have right now, I believe it's the best one from Everfall (dunno if I have acquired anything better on BBI).

I basically can't kill an ogre unless I can abuse height/elevation changes, lol. When they start rampaging, I can't survive, since they kill me in one shot. <3

Not sure how it holds up later on, but Hard mode on level 25 or so has brought a feeling of danger to playing Dogma that I really missed last year.

e: also the money drops are crazy as fuck. Nothing like seeing 10k gold roll out of a dead goblin.

So I have a level 60 character from the original game and just started playing in hard mode, am I overpowered? It feels like it to me this early on.

I can't take screenshots in this game, idk why.
They always come out like some ultra compressed jpeg, extremely blocky with terrible compression artifacts, what gives.

So I finished the game "completely". Last quest and events in
Everfall
were kinda unnecessary. But still a very good game. Some locations are absolutely gorgeous. Monster Hunter + Shadow of Colossus.
I'm confused why there is no button shortcuts for healing items. It's awkward to open menu every time for that.

Console games... no buttons to work with.
Next gen controllers better at least have 4-6 more buttons on them.

Are gear prices inflated because of the higher payout?

What is the Assassins Everfall equipment set, just so I know what gear to aim for.

It's not too different from what the Magick Archer uses. If you were playing on Hard, you could have grabbed some abyssinal from
Grigori
, but otherwise, something like:

Head: Dragonroar (plus it keeps the Assassin theme going pretty well)
Chest: Golden Lion Padding
Clothing: Dragonleather
(you get this before Grigori if you spoke to The Dragonforged)
Hands: Champion's Bangle (can be purchased from Caxton I think)
Legs: Holy Cuisses
Bow: Fey Whisper

Just search on here to find the chambers that contain more of the pieces that you would want and just farm those chests initially. I think Sorrow and Hope are probably the two to shoot for.

Gonna use Avermedia device instead in my next walkthrough.

As for the lack of buttons - directional buttons are almost worthless here. Demon's Souls control scheme for life.

In the chest, switch the Golden Lion Padding for a Golden Belt.

I've seen that recommended, but the defense on the belt is just awful. I actually went looking for the belt, not knowing it's stats, but when I found it I vendored it instantly. I don't know that the 20 str the belt gives is worth the major loss to defense (especially stagger/knockdown). I guess it just depends on whether or not you use the bow more than melee.

I have a hard mode save that I started from scratch. I got destroyed by bats in the cave in cassardis. That was sobering.

I like the Dark Lorica myself.

hard is the real deal. the downside is that you'll spend additional time in the item menu if you're not careful. hard needs more unique equipment and higher drop % for rare items in DD2.

Twilight Mask; Dark Lorica; Twilight Manicae; Superior Cuisses or Twilight Greaves; Nebula Cape.

Most classes have a "set". Doesn't necessarily mean it's the best for stats. They are all kind of close anyway though. I didn't think he was literally asking for the class specific sets.

I finished the dragon story last night but now the chest in the duke's treasury is gone? I wanted to go get the cape but I guess I can't anymore?:(

I've never tried to enter the Manse post-game. You can go back there at any time prior
after giving him a forged ring, and break into the treasure room at night when the guard walks off.

Decided to switch my pawn to fighter to get vehemence augement for the ranger, will go warrior afterwards for clout. What are the quickest ways to gain vocational ranks?

Damn post dragon is true dragon's dogma.
Tougher enemies with more abilities, badass environments.
I kind of wished I had played on hard mode though, it all feels a bit trivial on normal in everfall even though I'm only lvl 52 with normal loot. I guess I can adjust the difficulty for myself a bit by weaing weaker armor.

I love how gold is not an issue at all post game, you make like 500k in half an hour.
