Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

Is there a place to farm for amazing loot at level 30 or I'm I stuck looking like a homeless sorcerer until end game? I keep seeing some amazing pawns with high rate armor at level 35... are they on ng+ already?

Apparently I was one solitary quest away from a platinum trophy, and at that it was a quest available at the very start of the game! This makes my first platinum ever. Hurraaaayyy

Playing on Normal, I didn't like vanilla DD Hard that much because they just made it more tedious than challenging. From what I understand though they adjusted it in this version.

Yeah for example Bloodlust is reduced from 70% to 20% or something.

Hmmmmmm, kind of interested to play only with my main pawn. What do you folks think the most effective setup for that, provided I also want to tackle Everfall and Bitterblack?

Physical Arisen - Magic Pawn, Magic Arisen - Physical Pawn, or both of them Physical or Magic? Any recommendations on vocation path if I want to go this way?

Playing on Normal.

I think all the loot farming on BBI burned me out on Dragons Dogma, going to take a break.

Its funny, during finals week I was obsessed with this game but now that I have more free time I lost interest.

Anything works actually. You don't even need to restrict one character to a mage, curatives and food work very well for healing.

Normally I wouldn't use strat guides but in this case it has been so incredibly helpful with maps, detailed quests, etc...it really is a nice tome to have on this journey (and has saved me from a handful of headaches).

There's also a great wiki for the game. Detailed maps can be found as well. Definitely helpful because I would have missed a bunch of Quests had I not been linked to them from other entries on the wiki.

Isn't there a way to sort the google doc for the pawns by level?
Right now the order is random, some aren't listed with a level at all and since they change all the time it's a real PITA to go over the thing every time you need to hire a pawn to check if there's a gaf pawn to use (so I end up not using it at all)

Have you been to Soulflayer Canyon? If not, have a wander around there.

Where do I go for the new skills that came with Dark Arisen? I checked the inn in Gransys but he doesn't have anything new.

Also is invisibility still broken?

And I have begun New Game+.

I saw there are even more notice board quests available. Like killing 10 chimeras for 750k gold, right at the beginning. I won't complain though.

I only need one more piece of gear to hit 350 different kinds and the trophy, too. That's way easier than I imagined at the start, because I initially thought it was 350 pieces of armor only >_< Should've better read the description.

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.
So..few updates about my hard mode run..

Almost up to where I was on my original file. Have a few side quests to do before starting the wyrm hunt. I've noticed the pawns in hard mode are MUCH stronger defense-wise than normal mode. In normal mode I was constantly picking up my pawns as they died to wolves, bandits, ogres, everything. In this one they seem to..I dunno, not be as squishy. I guess it's to balance it a bit but it's also kinda strange.

Switched to Sorcerer at level 20 and..damn. This is my first time playing a spellcaster and it's insanely powerful. The ogre when you first go to Everfall on hard mode was about the exact same difficulty as normal mode, but sorc just does so much damage.

Someone used my pawn (thank you) and gifted me daggers that are clearly from end game lol. Thanks..but NO(t yet)! I'll equip them when I get to end-game myself haha.

Just need to do all the escorts again and I'll finally be ready to start the wyrm hunt. I've been fast traveling a lot since I know where I'm going (from doing these quests for the second time rar) so I don't feel as overleveled as I was in my first file.

Playing in hard mode doesn't count as the "second" run through? Can you do new game plus on hard mode even?

If you load your save, go to the options and choose "hard" difficulty, you will be forced to begin a new playtrough but all the gear and stats will be carried. And this will count as a second run.

Where do I go for the new skills that came with Dark Arisen? I checked the inn in Gransys but he doesn't have anything new.

Also is invisibility still broken?

No, now the invisibility have a time limit for its duration.

EDIT: The new skills can be found in BBI through cursed items.

I'm soloing Bitterblack Isle right now with my L60 Assassin, so far it seems doable. I'm up to the second main boss
(the undead dragon)
.

.. so far. However, you're just starting out and things will get very interesting
in section 2 of BBI

Although, I do believe it can be done at + lvl100 with significant BBI gear/weapons and buffs.

Which spells are the best for my sorcerer pawn? I find the spells which take a huge amount of time to cast pretty worthless, but I can not seem to find out which spells have a low cast time and whether I should keep one long cast spell for the bigger enemies.

Any help is appreciated.

I still don't get how magic archer works.

The bow abilities seem to do nothing, and I mean zero damage, not LOW damage, no , 0 dmg.

Ricochet arrow or the 6 fold arrow do absolutely nothing against most of the enemies, (again, literally 0 dmg, not just low damage)
Gargoyles, the wolves, stronger goblins etc are unaffected, while an ogre for example died in one cast of ricochet arrow.

Explosive rivet does ok dmg but the knockback is extremely annoying and my fighter pawn almost never actually hits the exlosive thingies so I have to run in myself to hit them, in the time it takes me to cast it a few times I can kill the enemies with my daggers twice over, so pointless.

I met one of those giant wolves that can spawn if there are dead enemies around and it too is weird.
It doesn't seem to damage my pawns much, usually doesn't do any real dmg to me, but I got oneshot twice (1900 hp) randomly when it pounced at me (same pounce that normally does maybe 300-400 dmg)
My bow abilities did nothing, I swapped to dagger and that did ok damage (though he has a very large amount of hp)

I think I'll just go back to assassin, I don't feel like I can make a balanced skill layout as MA at all, owerpowering some enemies and doing 0 damage against others.

Shooting shit at ranged is boring as hell anyhow.

What's your lvl?
What type of MBow are you using? Is it rare-ified?
And lastly, are you using buffs?

Ricochet is second to none in close quarters!

Strider is where it's at. Especially after I obtained a ring that upgraded Skull Splitter and Leaping Stone. Soaring Stone now makes any minion-type enemy you pounce off of get tossed into the air with you at a 100% success rate. In combination with Brain Splitter which makes you spin at 374793674768 rpm in the air and come downwards with the enemy you just knocked into the air, you almost feel like you're playing a Devil May Cry game.

Funniest moment yesterday was slaughtering a griffon with two uses of Brain Splitter, killing it in about 5 seconds.

buffs? if you mean periapts hell no, I don't need to to play assassin and they last for like 30seconds and going into the inventory is a pain.

Oh my god this is a hilarious realization that should probably be more obvious. I got the Dragon's Gaze ice enchanted longbow off BBI and I switched from MK to ranger to use it, but on my MK build I was using both +str augs and both +mgk augs because I was beasting down daimon (seriously I destroyed him in 5 minutes).

Well upon equipping the bow and upgrading it to 3 star, I realized that I had a strength rating of 1560 and a magick rating of 1160 (both are from recollection as I don't have the game in front of me right now) because the magick augs were boosting the base magick level of the bow it does hilarious amount of damage, the same is true for my Chilled Daggers because I can't get a heaven's key to drop, would love to trade something for those by the way.

So yeah long story short, stacking both +str and +mgk augs while using perma enchanted weapons is like +60% damage.

Got a copy turning up this week and it will be my first jump into DD. Other than some Maximilian footage, I have not played the game. Will be interesting to see what I make of it. Combat and loot focused should mean I will put a load of hours into it. :D

Ok.
Your max damage output (as a MA at current lvl, weapon and gear) is to weak to tangle with the likes of most residents of bbi.
However, if you are finding satisfaction through the assassin's role then have at it: That's the beauty of vocation choice/preference!

By the way, the buffers last a minute (60 seconds) and stack up to 4 ( on my phone can't go into details)
Don't underestimated their value or impact.

Also, if you continue to play as an assassin, please consider the wealthy merchant in Grand for the strength tonic that buffs your entire party. Pop 4 of them before attacking a big foe.... then let me know if you still think buffs are insignificant.

Thanks ill give it a try, how do the buffs stack, duration or effectiveness? If they stack duration wise I'd use em.

Also I'm fighting this GIANT eye boss right now in BBI, my normal arrow attack does some damage (but the fire rate is terrible), but both six fold arrow and the ricochet arrow do 0 dmg again... I'm starting to wonder if my game is broken.
Why do the normal attacks work and the skills do nothing whatsoever?

Oh you need to
wait for the part where he puts 4 tentacles on the ground and they start summoning some magick orb, you kill them and then you hit the orb and it shoots lasers out and hurts the eye
not sure if it needed to be spoiled or not but doing so just in case.

All Monsters have damage resistance threshold. (Some, more so than others: some magic base others physical)

Your base lvl + magic lvl+ magic-bow damage output is not enough to put a dent in bbi Cyclops.
However (If you're going to give the MA another go) pick up a minimum of four Solomons from the wealthy merchant in Grand (for magic buff) and attack the cyclops again with ric or the six shot homing shot.

By the way ..you will really start to lvl fast and start picking up some great gear while playing through this tough part. Things will get tremendously easier...still a challenge but kick ass fun.
I look forward to finding eliminator s in close quarters.. they use to own me!

Edit! Forgive me ...your talking about the giant eye!
jump on the head from up top..climb directly on the eye ball...pop 4 strength tonics and then hundred kiss his butt! ...bring extra tonics and a cure for blindness... if you fall off rinse and repeat

The thing I can't get over about this game is just how fun every single class is. They've nailed it. At this point, I'm switching vocations every few quests just because I start missing abilities from other classes.

I keep going from Mystic Knight to Ranger to Magick Archer.

Ruinous Sigil + 2x Great Cannon + Full moon slash it just too good..but then Tenfold bolt enchanted with fire destroys everything.

Love this game.

I never had ANY luck with that.

It's as though you aren't even supposed to go inside the "mouth" where the eye is. Each time I would try to climb inside, my guy would just act like he was hitting a barrier. Each time I tried to jump into it when it was close enough to the stairs, my guy would just fall to the ground. I had no real problems killing it, but climbing into the middle never did anything for me. Hell, even bow shots were not hitting the eye part until it fell on the ground.

The only issue I have with the classes is that it kind of feels like a misnomer. The Strider, Assassin and Ranger have virtually the same playstyle and very similar movesets. They do definitely have their differences, but not enough to warrant calling them different classes (they would be the "Shotos" of this game). I also wish the Warrior was actually worthwhile past vanilla, or that he was actually useful beyond just using his basic attacks. You can charge/topple some bigger enemies, but the Warrior still has the hardest time out of every class.

I wish you could bind an equipment set to each class though... such a pain in the butt to switch it all around every time you change vocation.

Or if not bind the equipment, how about let you change equipment while you're in the inn-keep menu? Instead of having to exit out of the entire conversation to make any adjustments?

I love this game but many aspects of it feel like amateur hour.

Yeah. This game is ridiculously good and somehow equally underappreciated.
