Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

24196573651_a4e9f5af34_o.gif

HBAO+
  • Nvidia Inspector
  • Next to driver version, select the ‘Profile Settings’ button
  • Select create new profile button, find Dragon’s Dogma executable
  • Select ‘Ambient Occlusion compatibility’ insert code: 0x00000013
  • Set ‘Ambient Occlusion Setting’ to Quality
  • Set ‘Ambient Occlusion Usage’ to Enabled
  • HBAO+ breaks in-game AA
  • Set ‘Antialiasing - Mode’ to Override any application setting
  • Set ‘Antialiasing - Setting to Application-controlled/Off
  • Set Antialiasing - Transparency Multisampling’ to Disabled
  • Set ‘Toggle FXAA’ to On

Grief, what is the difference between in game FXAA and the one used by Nvidia/Inspector as far as quality goes? I'm Interested in HBAO+ however not if it means the AA is worse/

Thanks.

Does the PC version allow you to render with black bars? (I don't think I could actually play with it, but I'm curious)

Or horizontal scaling somehow?

I'm thinking about how I can get the most out of my low end computer.

Just spit balling here, but you should be able to set some oddball custom resolution with your monitors width and then a smaller height value, when you run the game the top and bottom will be black bars.

I bought this game and I have no idea what to expect it seems complex. Oh well I will make a archer (theif? is there stealing in this game?) as I always do

As in traditional sneaking mechanics? No but the assassin class does have an invisibility ability. Didn't mess around with it much though.

This does nothing, it actually makes you intangible, not actually invisible; enemies can still see you, they just can't hurt you.

That might be doable, but it would suck having to change it every time I play the game. I wish horizontal scaling was easy to do, but eh, I'll probably just try to run it in 720p first and then increase it if I've got performance to spare.

FXAA is garbage anyways unless you are running 4K+ resolutions. It's basically a stop gap for consoles with limited performance budgets.

I would advise leaving both options off, then injecting AA through Gedosato, SweetFX, ENB, etc.

I didn't even know you could inject AA through GeDoSaTo, always used it for downsampling only. Is it SMAA?

I'll be trying out a SMAA injector myself, hopefully it'll work well.

Code:
########################################################################################
# Image processing settings
# Note: may or may not apply depending on the plugin used

## AA

# AA toggle and quality setting
# 0 = off (best performance, worst IQ)
# 1 = low
# 2 = medium
# 3 = high
# 4 = ultra (worst performance, best IQ)
aaQuality 0

# AA type
# either "smaa" or "fxaa", depending on your preferences
aaType fxaa

The Strider is essentially the Rogue, complete with a steal skill as a Strider exclusive dagger skill (it taking a skill slot is kind of a big deal, since there are plenty to choose from). No stealth doe, as mentioned.

Q) Does the game include the Berserk armor and weapon set?
A) Unfortunately, the Berserk gear is not included in the game due to licensing restrictions.

At first I was sad but then I googled and saw that it was just the golden age armors and then I didn't care.

Oh, and it works exactly like DSfix to configure as well!

Awesome, will definitely use SMAA then!

I'm hoping I can still downsample it at least a bit, by dropping a couple of settings to medium, maybe.

My review for ACG Link

In a nutshell
"Though in some ways comparable to Dark Souls, Dragons Dogma feels a bit like Saints Rows appearance during GTA's reign. An oddly unique title with stellar combat and a large open world constantly reminding you of the flexibility available in any given genre. It is also fun as hell."

Also if anyone is interested in some of the music, AI, and so forth I did a Walking the Walk video discussing the art, music, and gameplay compositions. Walking the Walk

As for SMAA and such. Most programs and such works in some way with DD. I was really happy, when reviewing it, just what I could do. Not sure how the mod scene will turn out in the long run but cosmetically I didn't run into issues getting the game to play nice.

If using ENB, how do you inject it?

I hope this comparison holds true. I much prefer SR4 to GTA

It did for me. Its not that its loopy or anything like Saints Row. Its just that you see a game that somewhat fits within the same feel of one title and reminds some gamers of that title, but also shows you just how open any genre is and it actively borrows for a good deal of games. Instead of feeling like a hodgepodge all of the systems actually interact on various levels.

Really hope someone makes a mod to remove the giant chest scar. The ridonkulous cleavage is somewhat marred by it.

dragonsdogma_darkarisjls8b.jpg

There's barely any mods for it, but from the 4chan thread, there's a Nude mod that makes male and females lose scars and clothing, so barbie doll like, but I dunno about JUST the scar. All the files are easily moddable, though so if it's not done soon, I assume it's just a matter of deleting the scar texture or replacing the scarred body texture with a normal one.

Is this in the ENB download or something? I've never done something like this before lol
Yes, once you "installed" (aka drag and dropped) ENB, check enblocal.ini and you can find the Proxy settings there. I'm sure somebody will write a guide once the game is out for a bit :)

The hype in here is making me want to play it again... but I've already sunk so much time into both the original and Dark Arisen and there are too many other games to play.

This was probably my favorite game of last gen. Using a bow in Dragon's Dogma is one of the most satisfying combat experiences I've ever had in a video game. Oh, and unleashing Thousand Kisses over and over again on a dragon's heart, with fiery magma blood spewing out with every dagger slash. The memz are flooding back...

The hell? Why do people say it's under 2 hours? I still have 3 hours here in Sweden.

the unlock time they've constantly said and have up on their FAQ is 9 AM Pacific (1 Hour and 35 Minutes from now)

the timer on the Steam store listing has never been updated so don't go by that

Thanks.

When using driver HBAO+, in game AA doesn't work. I found the driver FXAA to be a lot better than I would have expected. Combine it with some minor downsampling and you'll be golden.

Super excited. Always wanted to play Dragon's Dogma back when it was on last gen consoles only but I never got around to get it. Circumstances forced me to sell my 360 years ago, so all I had was to hope for a PC release.

I'm probably gonna pick an archer character since I heard melee is no fun.
