Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

There is only easy and normal mode even in NG+ I think which you can switch whenever you want. Hardmode itself which you start from the main menu can't be changed (at least from what I remember)

Damn. But starting the game on hard is not recommended, is it? I'm really conflicted.

You can't. NG+ keeps your starting choice (Normal/Hard in this case).

You can't switch the difficulty after that.

(I'm basing this on the console versions- might be different on PC).

Start on hard.

Can I change the difficulty to "hard" once I'm in NG+? Or am I locked on normal difficulty forever if I opt for it?

Pretty sure you can change to hard whenever on PC, and it doesn't restart, so no double ring of Ring Of Perseverance at the start anymore :(

IIRC, that was changed in Dark Arisen. You can go to hard mode whenever from the title menu, just know you'll restart from the beginning with your level and items intact.

You can start a new game on hard, using everything you've gotten up to that moment. You might play 10 or 500 hours, and then start a new game on hard.

But heed the FAQ from the OT well when it comes to Hard. Playing on Hard "for the challenge" will eventually turn into "for the tedium" since all you're really left with is the increased stamina costs and your ways of migitating it.

Yeah. From what I've seen it mostly works. It is just this and a few night time situations that look weird. What I'd like to know is if the other implementations suffer from similar problems.
HBAO+ does not have this issue. The bleeding through alpha effects is very noticable though...Haven't tried GeDoSaTo.

so it's one of those "start on hard" games?
strange..in many reviews they say that it is a challenging game as it is.

Man this just like when DD Online was released. Really want to play it but class just started up and I need to focus and auuuuuu

Yeah I did read that. Hard seems to drop a unique armor though.

I think I'll yolo it and start on hard. If I end up not enjoying it I can restart so whatever.

It seems you can start it up actually right now. It's funny because the steam timer implied this would unlock at 1:00 pm EST. It's nice that it came out a bit earlier.

Starting off hard mode = 1 shot mode. The normal game alone has tanky enemies unless you learn their weaknesses and have the right pawns to buff your weapons. It's not a fun mode at all unless you're an assassin with mobility to dodge and I think they have a vanish kind of ability but that's later in the game.

Starting on Hard, hopefully this doesn't become unbearable. I'm not changin' this beast.

If you do feel like changing it later, there's no penalty for going from hard to normal. There is a restart penalty for going from normal to hard, though.
