DRIVECLUB: 30 minutes of new Beta footage

Photo Mode in Snow

Ummm...something does not look right here. Why are the snow particles just in front of the car and the rest of the area is clear (top of the car, behind the car). Maybe they are still working on the weather system and its not final.

To be honest, people didn't want PGR back then. The reason it's not being made now is because it wasn't selling back then. I think nostalgia is the driving force here, not statistics.

No. The reason it's not made now is because MS shifted all of their focus to Forza, and they sent PGR4 to die by releasing it in the same week as Halo 3.

Rallisport 2 must not be wanted then, because sales statistics indicate how awful that game is right?

You can only see the particles illuminated by the headlights in that shot which makes sense given the time of day and lighting conditions.

For a start; course creator and smart / fast AI would enhance any racing game, but Evos have failed on both fronts, Driveclub is the same old with more pretty. No vision, no future.

Aaah yes, this DriveClub thread was not complete until yet another Wax Free comment about lack of track editor.

People been moaning about AI blazing past on straights now you're saying it isn't fast...

I would love a track designer though. I think DLC has ruined the hopes of designers in many games, and not just for racing - FPSs, anything. Limits their power to sell you new tracks/maps etc if you can just make your own.

They are but what is going on here is that only those lit by the headlights are visible.

I think it does need adjusting a little though as from the dash cam it did look a little too confined of an area to be lit.

Looking good for a corridor racer.

Haha this is great. Literally made me laugh out loud.

On topic? India looks meh but Norway? With that snow? BEAUTIFUL. Geez. I love the weather effects. This game is stunning.

Oh NOSE! We only get a great game not the future of racing :(. I guess I'll have to think about how much Evo disappointed me when I'm having fun playing this game.

The effect might be overdone since we can't see all of the detail from an off-screen vid, but the snow is lit up by the lights.

WTF do you expect from a somewhat realistic racer? This isn't motorstorm, burnout, or captain crazys car crash bonanza. There needs to be some semblance of rules and reality in some racing games. Theres room for silly, over the top racers as well. I like sim, arcady, and just plain silly racers.

Didn't you get the memo? Racing games are no fun unless you can throw turtles shells at your opponents, shoot lasers from your hood mounted weapon, or take your lamborghini off roading. I mean what is a racing game if you don't have any of those things?

Yeah that's the only part that looked a bit weird imo. Maybe it's because of the compressedmoffscreen quality that we can only see the flakes in the lights.

Ok, let's play this game. What about all the dynamic online social features? The whole idea of being in a club and all that stuff (see here). Plus, who are you to say that people don't want another PGR game? I sure as hell do, and it seems like a bunch of others here share that same sentiment.

It's so strange how every DC thread just devolves into this

Because many are jealous of this game realism, graphics, immersion and dynamic nature which is close to real never seen in any racing game before with excellent sim/arcade feeling and controls over everything we do to race with friends.

Hint: I don't actually expect you to have an answer. You really just seem like another cry baby that likes to talk about how FH2 looks great (BTW, what's that game doing that's so innovative?) just moments after pulling a one-hitter quitter in a thread about GG's new IP.
Oh man that quote is gold haha

It didn't take long for this thread to turn

HELP ME GAF

I don't know who's trolling and who's posting seriously anymore. LMAO
It's not safe here

Trust no one

Another racing game. Just like those other ones.

I won't stop until Rushy says so.
I remember you! You're that dude that has had an axe to grind in every Driveclub thread over the last few days. What's wrong this time? The same thing as last time or something different?

You can't see snow when it's pitch black. It's lighting up the snow that's being illuminated by the headlights. The snow is everywhere, you just can't see it.

2 things. Rushy has a Velocity 2X sticker on his laptop and that's badass. During the straightaway I actually needed him to slow down. The car seemed to be going so fast I feared for something bad to happen.

Ever turn your lights off when its snowing outside in the dark? You cant see the snow. The lights LIGHT up the snow.

Precipitation can be difficult to film depending on the lighting.
The headlights make the particles plainly visible.
The lack of ambient lighting to illuminate the rest make them imperceptible.
It's the same principle for why depending on the camera angles in a football game, it can be difficult to tell that it's raining in one shot, and in another, it's a visible downpour.

Skyrim with cars.

I'm interested in this new genre.

Yep, it's realistic for direct or back-lit rain/snow to show up. In low-light you wouldn't see it.

Potentially dumb question incoming...

So will weather in its entirety be missing at launch before it's patched in? Or just the option to choose the weather for each race?

Like will we still experience weather like this...

Snow Storm

...at launch and just not be able to select it for a given race?

I believe it's not there at all at launch but expected before the end of the year.

Yes not weather like rain to snow at launch.

But we can't see the snow in other cars?, just one car, our car? that why looks so weird.

we should see snow from every light source in the game, not just one xD

Why does it look so understeery?

I've noticed that too, but I think it's more that the drivers aren't slowing down enough. Without having the wheel/controller in-hand, I don't know that I could judge it. Also, if it's a Huryayayaydhahfsdjkfhlsdkjafhdjkf, the turn radius was never my favorite at speed based on other games.

When he enters photo mode, in the right edge of the screen you can see a couple of snowflakes being visible from the headlights of the car behind. It's barely visible (due the camera), but it seems that other cars does light up the snow.
