yes. It's actually a pretty hardcore oldschool dedicated racer imo.
Music to my ears. It shall be mine....soon.

Did they put the Mercedes GT on the Store yet? It was supposed to be up yesterday and the patch notes even mention it but it wasn't up. I assume it's because all of the problems with the servers but just trying to make sure. Supposed to be up for full game owners and I am.
Can I join? Mr-Stephen on PSN, GMT
This is the only car I was able to download yesterday. You have to select from within the game.
It's up for free in the EU store.
Can you say how you got to it? Were the servers working when you downloaded it? I looked in the Garage and didn't see a listing for it. I may just be overlooking something but I don't think I did.
Give me dat photo mode
Jeff cries when he sucks at a game.So having played a couple of races now Gerstmann's review seems like crazy talk to me. How can anyone call the driving in this bad and not fun? The overall package is definitely lacking some features but the driving itself is great.
As someone who doesn't play much racers, this game is awesome so far. However, one thing I'm horrible at is turning/drifting. Any tips?
So you're implying this is the case for every other game release?
No.
A lot of people are using people's reactions to the penalty system as proof that they're casuals who hate racing or something, but I think they're glossing over the actual complaints.
From the sounds of it, the penalties are annoying people because they lower your in-game speed, and they crop up for seemingly innocuous arcade racing game antics like bumping and whatnot. I definitely think penalties should exist, but is a speed penalty really the way to go?
"Just drive better" isn't really an excuse either, in my opinion. Just like how old GT games were a little disappointing without damage modeling, a racing game that aggressively resets you onto the track when you mess up or zaps your speed seems a bit overbearing, similar to NFS The Run.
Am I right here, or are the penalties not actually that obnoxious in game?

A lot of the greens you have to let up on the gas. Some reds you don't even have to break for.
havent worked for me yet and I have had the game for a day-US East coast
really shitty
edit:
Destiny
Sure, but is this game really that high-profile? Seems like a huge portion of potential players were waiting for the free version. The international release is staggered. They know exactly how many people pre-ordered the download version, and how many discs were being shipped out to stores. I can't imagine it was *that* hard to estimate server demand for launch. And this isn't like Battlefield where the # of people is in the millions.
The server wonkiness really just reinforces that those of us who bought the full version really just paid full price to be in a public beta. All those cool social features? Hopefully they'll be working soon. Replays? Soon-ish, probably. Weather? Also soon-ish.
It's a bummer because I think the game is pretty good. But all these issues make me not want to play it until it's working properly, and are probably scaring away lots of potential buyers. And since we're in the middle of High Release Season, by the time the wrinkles get sorted out everyone will have moved on to the next game. Since this game seems to need a relatively active social community to really shine, I don't think it's going to get a chance to get it's legs underneath it, so to speak. This game couldn't afford to bobble the launch.

You can't compare the destiny budget to the Driveclub budget. It's in another league.
I don't really know how it all works, but I would assume sony is budgeting tightly on servers to reduce cost. it would be costly to pay for all these servers and bandwidth just for the launch window.
I think I went to a quick race (or whatever it's called) and just chose it in the car selection screen. The car does not have a lock, that's how you can quickly identify it. Game proceeded to download it. I was not connected to the server.
Congratulations. But did you win?
I like the idea of the collision speed penalties, it promotes less aggro driving more finesse. But I think they may have gone just a tad overboard with how sensitive it is. I have gotten a collision penalty near the end of a race because the AI hit me and I fell back into 5th from 1st. Almost all of the time it works fine. I hope it is tweaked a bit in the future.A lot of people are using people's reactions to the penalty system as proof that they're casuals who hate racing or something, but I think they're glossing over the actual complaints.

Abso-fucking-lutely.So if I just want to race and don't care about stuff like tuning is this game for me? Been itching for a good racer
Played until the rookie cup and really enjoyed it. But now I'm going to wait until they sort this server nonsense out because I feel like I'm missing out on a decent part of the experience without it.
Are clubs only 6 ppl max?

I almost handles too well. I was all over the road with my first spin in it.Anyone else having a love affair with the Lotus?

The penalties don't show up for bumps and touches, or getting slightly off track. They appear only for very major crashes (like say, going full speed on a corner and using another car as a guardrail) or cutting through very specific sections of the track.
I haven't found it overbearing at all so far, but keep in mind that I've only played for three or so hours.
All depends on positioning and relative speed. The flags indicate the intensity of the corner, but doesn't take into account that you might be coming off a massive straight line or have just finished a previous red corner, for example.
So are we going to receive any kind of compensation (like Store credit) for the servers downtime ?

Bloodworth bro, you gotta turn that HUD off then you don't even notice any fame deductionsYeah honestly, I don't get the complaints about the penalties. They are there to help you improve your driving. Getting a speed limiter can be annoying, but it's only going to happen if you really screwed up. Being upset that there's wiggle room and leniency on certain turns is also silly. It's a normal aspect of racing.
The only thing that bugs me with the penalties is that sometimes I'll get a minor fame deduction for vehicle contact when it feels like the AI is at fault, but who knows, in some cases a replay system could show that I was really the one responsible.
