They'd have to top the Dumbledore vs. Voldemort fight from the 3rd film, which was amazing.
Hopefully they get some different directors on board akin to the beginning of the Harry Potter series.. Kinda got dull after 5 (6 was bad).

This was the most egregious thing in the movies. Instead of them talking and actually going through the wand laws, lets have them scratch each others faces, also no one is paying attention for some reason...
6 was definitely the worst, but it got some of the higher critical ratings if I recall.

Hopefully it's more of a nod than anything else. I was down for the idea of another story in the same universe but set in a different place and time, but if it turns into a "look, it's that guy!"-fest, eehhhhh

I think it's fair to say Grindelwald wasn't using the Elder Wand to its true potential, much like Riddle wasn't against Harry. Was it ever confirmed as lore that Grindelwald killed the wands previous owner?
His certainly not the most flashy of Directors. But he knows his shit, gets things done and is reliable. He also works well with a lot of the Brit actors in these movies.

They have no reason to take him off the films.
That leaves us with Helena Bonham Carter.
The second one is going to be too far along to pull out of I think.

Oh, that would be nice. Flashes to the past of this world are a terrific idea.
After casting Johnny Depp to play an Eastern European after going to such lengths in the main series to find actors of the right nationalities for their roles, I'm pretty afraid they are just going to say "Fuck it!" and cast Channing Tatum as young Dumbledore.
EDIT: Jared Harris would be fucking phenomenal though.

Outside the look, I still think Gambon was the better Dumbledore. Harris acted like he was inches from death (and sadly he was). Gambon had the whimsical quality to Dumbledore that Harris lacked.

I wonder if they filmed anything of Young Dumbledore and Young Grindlewald that got cut. The first two films got extended editions, but for some reason, and even after the massive success of the LotR EE, they never did it for the later Potter films.
