Dust: An Elysian Tail coming to Steam May 24th

Not a day one purchase for me, but only because I'm going to be on vacation that day. :)

Hope the game does well for you on Steam, Noogy. I bought it on launch week for XBLA, dumped some time into it over the weekend, and haven't touched it since because I just can't be bothered to boot up my 360 these days, so I'm glad I have another avenue to play the game (and you get a bit of extra money, too!).

I really enjoy it with the mouse/keyboard to be honest. It's sort of your standard WASD setup, and I was worried that the combo system wouldn't feel right with mouse buttons, but it's actually sort of cool. I also support keyboard-only, which is nice for notebooks.
Confirm KB+M is great for this.

Shit I need to catch up on Steam stuff this and Fez are on my buy lists but haven't done it yet. This looks amazing thank god it's coming to Steam.

Made a .gif of some early stuff. I don't even have other projectiles or the Air Dust Storm yet and the projectiles aren't as numerous as they could be.
But I think it captures a lot of what makes Dust so enjoyable.

Yes that's one of the fun aspect of it but even though it's a side and vertical scroller, the ''exploration'' parts to find stuff and the dead ends that you can come back to later once you find and level up stuff is also great, gameplay is also great, once you get use to the slightly floaty jumps, to time your landing,it's perfect...background are gorgeous in most area...I love the Blacksmith's area for example.

Never did manage to do that 1000 hit combo though hehe...

I've gotten over 500, but my attack is too high (and I'm keeping it down too) in the areas I'm in.

I'll give it a real shot later on.

Yes there's a lot of other great stuff as well of course, this was easiest to capture.

Go to a screen in shadow meadows, and equip the pendant that lower all your stats. Spam the Y button and enjoy.

I have to admit this and Hazaro's animated gifs look really cool. It's weird and probably seems self-serving, but there's something very enchanting about seeing your own game in gif form. Almost makes me want to buy it.

Welp.

I bought this on XBLA and never played it, because my Xbox pretty much just collects dust. I'll gladly pick it up again on a platform I actually play.

Bought this on XBLA, unfortunately never finished after my 360 died and just couldn't justify buying yet another (I think I was on my 4th or 5th system). Will definitely pick up on Steam, just not day 1 since I can't swing it.

Either way, great game and grats on getting it on Steam, Noogy!

The second time in 7 posts that someone has gone through at least 5 360s.

That really blows me away.

I've built 3 computers in the last decade, sold the first 2 and to my knowledge they still work.

Do it. You know you'll love it. After all you made it and you can take your own word on it that its good. You're good people. You trust you. Go with your gut and listen to you. Besides...you need your own money and deserve to ...wait that last bit is likely counter intuitive due to people getting percentages.

How bout just for the tag you could have online saying "Even I bought a copy!"

I think I need a key because it isn't giving me a chance to prepurchase it, even though I see some people already have it.

Hook a brother up with a Steam key! :P

Seriously though, it'd be awesome

it IS weird and self serving. how dare you. :)

I plan to buy it yet again and I would encourage and plead with everyone on this forum to buy it, not only is it a great game, but being made primarily by one person is craaaaaazy and personally inspiring (aspiring indie dev here). we want this man to make more games.

similar story here. I didn't finish Dust on 360 because I got rid of it for a gamestop promotion to put it towards a 500g ps3. but the REASON I was so quick to get rid of it is because MS had lost every last bit of my good will because my 360 broke down 3 times and I saw what PSN was offering and felt ripped off by XBL.

besides, it felt like it was due for another breakdown, so it was a good time to cash out of it. :D

I'm sort of interested in this but I need to know if it's more of a platformer or a brawler, because I don't really feel like playing a brawler right now.

I'd say it's a really nice 50/50 split between brawling and metroidvania platforming. Even as you progress, you get so strong and powerful that combat becomes nearly effortless in a fairly satisfying way near the end. So many effects will be flying all around the screen!

It's both.

I wouldn't call it a mere brawler, but there's definitely a healthy amount of combat. Which luckily is a lot of fun.

I never finished it last time (as I said, it was cut short due to the loss of my 360) but I'm gonna be playing on tough this time.

And the game has towns, npcs, quests, levels, items, and platforming in addition to the fast action combat. It's kind of got everything.

That's right, and I didn't even think about bringing those up! The game was such a nice surprise last year. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I bought this on the 360 and for various reasons (not game related) never played it. I'd rather play it on my 1080p monitor anyway so roll on release! Am I right in saying you can't actually buy it/prepurchase it but have to wait for it to go live ? Can't buy it yet on the UK steam store anyway (at least you couldn't this morning)

Yeah, you'll have to wait until it's out. I think it'll be out in 3ish hours.

Already have a copy of it on my XBOX 360 but haven't finished it cause my XBOX died and my warranty doesn't cover it anymore (the console was 6 years old now). :(

Quick question Noogy, is there a chance for Dust to appear perhaps sometime later on gog.com?

Awesome! I really don't need any more games right now, but I'll definitely pick it up during the summer sale. Always reminded me of Odin Sphere, which was brilliant.
