Terrible 1980s disc of the week:

For collectors, this Invader Zim box looks interesting, but I can't be bothered to sort out what comes in it--if it's a complete set, or only has one volume, or is just an empty box or what:

Defintely grabbing this. Never found time to watch this at the theatre...was even thinking of doing so last month, but figured the DVD wasn't that far away.

Insanely good choice...but I'm not sure I would want to watch this film over and over again. Way too depressing. I watched it last weekend, since we were studying Rwanda in Political Science, and then I read an entire article on it.

Genocide doesn't make for a fun Saturday night, but it's a fantastic film that everyone should see once.

Hotel Rwanda is an amazing film...that I have no desire to own on DVD. However, it gets my highest recommendation for an immediate rental by anyone who missed it in the theatre.

Meanwhile, 80's nostalgia ahoy!

I can't bring myself to buy either of the Galaxy Rangers DVDs, but it's a close call. Besides, why buy Galaxy Rangers when I could own this?

:lol at Mac and Me! one of my favorite bad movies; perfect riffing material. Is this it's first time on DVD? To those who havent seen it, it's more than a cheap rip-off of ET, it's also the most advertiser friendly movie ever! Mcdonalds and coca-cola must have fronted the entire budget.

I'd buy Oceans 12, as I love the style that those movies are made with. But I don't know about Hotel Rwanda. It's such a depressing movie... I don't know if I'd want to watch it over and over again.

It'll probably end up in my collection though, for the same reason I want to buy Fog of War or Schindlers List. You need to see these movies so that you can remember the atrocities which were comitted so they don't happen again... if you own the DVD you can't just shelf the problems.

Ugh I hated Ocean's Twelve (but loved the original...)

Hotel Rwanda was a great movie, but whytemyke makes a great point. Hmm... well I was glad to have at least seen it in theatres. :)

You forgot Harvey Birdman. Man, how can you forget Harvey Birdman!

About the only thing that warrants bitching about this box is that it doesn't have the Jetsons episode, arguably one of the show's finest moments.

:lol @ Mac and Me. I remeber asking my dad to pick up that Space Invaders movie from the rental place and he brought back Mac & Me. Fuckin retarded movie man. The only thing remotley cool about that movie was that it was filmed in Diamond Bar and I recognised a bunch of locations.

I was gonna say, how has Universal not sued those guys for ripping ET's appearance off like that? But I guess it was a deliberate spoof...I've never seen it, so I don't know.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to see it in the first place...though funny enough I still don't have Schindler's List (hell I don't even have Saving Private Ryan yet).

Funny enough, Ocean's 12 is one movie I'm glad I watched once, but probably wouldn't buy the DVD for unless it's dirt cheap. The first movie beats it in almost every way possible...just think it's smarter, less convoluted. Still some great interaction scenes with the players though, which is worth seeing once.

Anyone have an opinion?

Nothing this week for me. Downfall (Der Untergang) was fantastic, but I don't think I would ever want to watch it again. Same with Hotel Rwanda.

However, I'll probably snag Bad Education once it drops in price. That film was beautiful.
