Dwyane Wade to Sign with the Chicago Bulls

The reason the Lakers are in such disarray is because they kept feeding an aging superstar who's performance and health were on a major decline, big bucks. They let nostalgia and loyalty come before business sense and wanting to win. And they're paying for it. They wasted tens of millions of dollars on Kobe Bryant in the last 3 years of his career and ran their franchise into the ground.

Pat Riley was not about to let the same happen in Miami. WhIle Wade was healthy this past season, the prior 2 or 3, Wade missed nearly 1/3 of the regular season games. His numbers have declined and time is not on his side. His style of play is not conducive to aging. He has no jump shot. And he's not going to be able to keep slashing, euro stepping and getting knocked around for much longer. It's a given that Wade's production and explosiveness will continue to decline going forward and while it's certainly hard for Miami to watch Wade walk away, good for them to have enough sense not to bet their franchises future on a player that wont be able to deliver them back to greatness. He's past his prime and he'll be lucky to be a starter 3-4 years from now.

honest question, what is garpax trying to build here? these signings and trades don't make any sense.

Second best team in the East. There's no future in it, but if everyone stays healthy and committed(like 1 in 3 chance?) then they're in the eastern conference finals maybe, that's something?

Well they had set themselves up to have like $60 million in cap space next year for the FA bonanza (nine players under age 26, no bad contracts, Butler's deal now a huge bargain). Rondo is basically on a one-year deal (two with a team option for the second), Wade is on a two-year deal with a player option for the second. Lopez's deal is dirt-cheap under the new cap.

So to me it seems like they wanted to put together a respectable team this year (that is, no tank) and still leave themselves lots of flexibility for next. Even if Wade stays for the second year, there's still room to sign a max player. I think the idea is to have a respectable team someone would want to sign with, rather than a rebuilding tank job.

Pretty much.

What a coward.

If he wanted to win he would have come to LA.

Basically all free agents this year were Dwight Howard level cowards except comrade Mozgof and Deng.

I'll never understand this line of thinking. He's a coward for going to Chicago? In all his time at Miami, he's never been the top paid player and has continued to be faithful. It was time for him to move on and that doesn't make him a coward. There's hardly any talent left on that Heat team

LMAO

Holy fuck I was so sick of this meme but this changes everything

I've been chatting with my friends about this, basically a therapy session. I am devistated, I can't even process what next season is going to be like.

I think Riley and the Heat fucked up. In the end it was for what McBob?! That's what we get now, yay we kept McBob. All this talk about how we are trying to keep the future open, you can find a way to keep the future open and do this deal.

The difference is now there is no Wade here to recruit players. Riley didn't get Lebron and Bosh, Wade did. Shaq is not winning shit on the Heat of Wade is not here. Wade is why we have three championships, not Riley.

What is the plan now? What we hope in 2017 a bunch of the super friends are going to decide out of nowhere to come to Miami and play with Whiteside? Lol yeah good luck with that.

No one is going to win a championship except GS for the next few years so we might as well lose with Wade, better than McRoberts and probably Tyler Johnson.

This is stupidity.

2016-2017 is the year of the hometown heroes returning.

joakim noah > new york
dwight howard > atlanta
dwayne wade > chicago

probably missing more but those are the biggest names i can think of.

That happened? I thought he was still deciding between Boston, Atlanta, and Houston

I wonder how bad the backlash is in Miami about this. Me and my sister are gonna cancel our season tickets....

How many more people are going to do the same???

Probably a ton. You don't put out an exciting product Miami doesn't go. I don't think it will be a horrible change like Cleveland did but it will be a drop.

Honestly surprised people are so upset, hes been on the downturn a while.

He had the best season in years and basically carried us in the playoffs.

As a Bulls fan I went from laughing at such a deal to being really happy they pulled the trigger within the span of a single day.

It is the best the team could do for the immediate short term, and the fact that its a 2 year deal makes it even better. We lose Dunleavy and Calderon as a sacrifice, big whoop.

C: Lopez
PF: Mirotic
SF: Butler
SG: Wade
PG: Rondo

If Mirotic can continue to grow and be that stretch 4 with Butler returning to 2015-ish 3pt shooting I think it'll be pretty solid.

People act like Wade is washed up. There's no doubt he's up there in age and wearing down, but dude still finished 4th in the league among SG's in PER (20.3) this season and played 70 games (more than Butler and Rose!).

The alternative was what? Tank the season, hope we luck into a Top 5 pick and watch Butler meltdown and bail on us by mid-season? Its easy to say "tank and rebuild" until your team is on the cusp of doing it.

I never understood shit like this. The NBA is a business, Wade and Heat couldn't come to an agreement, it sucks and he moved on. Freaking idiots.

Yeah and burning the shirt doesnt give a refund or make the player sad or anything. Burning a perfectly good shirt, give that shit to charity smh

Yoooooooooo

Good job burning the jersey of the guy who got you 3 championships

I kept hearing for years that Heat fans would NEVER take it that far (same way I heard they didn't care about Lebron leaving, insert laughing emoji with tears).

I can't believe this dude actually left though. Heat losing hard right now. I have to figure Bosh is for sure done for Wade to bounce, also that Riley tried too hard with the hardass angle and Wade was like oh you thought I was bullshitting, peace out.

I wanna see how Miami as a city reacts to this, besides the "I am not going to Heat games" stuff.

Finally, I guess Lebron is inspiring these dudes to go home. Time for Melo to hit up the Wizards.................... . . . . .
Would actually be a good look for him but who are we kidding, it's Melo.
