Why has Nintendo not said anything about what their going to do at E3 ? like two weeks ago people were predicting that they would say something then like they did last year by announcing the E3 Direct ?

I think the reason is obvious: they haven't confirmed internally everything that will be shown (playable and trailers) at the show.

I'm most excited for Nintendo's show because of new announcements. Hope to see

-Star Fox trailer and release date
-Xenoblade Chronicles X release date
-Pokemon Z/XY2 trailer
-New Paper Mario for Wii U announcement
-Metroid Wii U announcement
-Metroid 3DS Wii U announcement
-Announcement of Retro's new game
-More Smash DLC (King K Rool)

Non-Nintendo Hopes

-Final Fantasy XV
-Kingdom Hearts III
-The Last Guardian
-Rime

is square enix really doing a presentation at the same time as nintendos or are reporters just talking smack?

We are going by previous years as all the conferences were all at the same time. This year could be different as we have 3 more conferences and EA is an hour later than usual.

MS announces a new slim console. New even lower price.Yeah I know but seriously they need to shake things up big time. They can't change out the hardware now so they may as well go value. Nintendo most likely will drop Wii-u price this year (fire sale!) so they need to be in front of the curve. What else can they do to get back some market share? Halo will be the big thing but how much damage did the 343 do with the Halo collection release?

Nothing special on Sony this time. They are on the top looking down so they will play wait and see. Its what the did last time and it worked. They will adapt if MS does something special. Probably be pushing Now. Yawn.

Big N. I am guessing there is something in treehouse that will surprise us all. The zelda push has this a big hot mess. We already have a pretty good idea of what is coming up. Splash, Mario Maker and Fox. We know an animal crossing is coming...I am hoping for a huge surprise here. The NX and Mobile stuff are making this a gap year. Maybe its Amiibo's for everyone with a punch of games that use them and lots of them to buy to get them to 2016. They always surprise me.

Hoping to see MH5 but I am thinking that will be next year because they got that other MH game coming out.

SE announces lots of dates for known stuff maybe a FF12 remake? Dragon Quest 7 translation? Get in on the 3ds before it goes cold?

Atlus with dates for especially persona 5.

Kind of a weird year. I have this feeling of desperation in the video game industry, if they don't get some new trend they are in trouble. The young kids are playing cell phones and us older folks have getting tired of the same old same old...like COD and such.

$100 Price drop at either Paris or E3 for PS4. That's my only prediction. If they don't they're going to lose ground. I'd be surprised if Microsoft didn't drop the price.

The only time Sony lose in sales is during the holidays. I really don't think Sony should lower the price until they see the Xbox making gains on them monthly because the profit on each console sale widens every month. Why cut your gains when you're outselling your competitor who is running deals on their system all the time?

I think Microsoft on the other hand has to find a resting point with the console. As the quarterly reports showed, they have devalued the living hell out of the system by bundling it with a ton of games and offering a price cut. I would be surprised if they lowered it anymore.

I wish I could go to E3 and go to every Conference :( I need a video game industry job or become a game journalist, Wonder if PlayStation are going to do that movie theaters E3 viewing thing again ?

Short vs long term strategy? Winning more consumers now would mean more PS+ subscription member increase and larger game’s sale volume. And that could be a 10+ year long commitment, even more if the next gen consoles will be able to play last gen games, then you are automatically ensuring the user base will naturally carry over to the next gen (it is not guaranteed, but it is definitely a factor). So I think there are definitely benefits to lowering the price for a 100$, even if it might seem like a loss, when in long term that could in fact be a healthy investment.

1/4 of their price when the thing is still killing it? Yeah, I don't think so. I can see it riding $400 until the holidays this year where it will only drop $50.

Nintendo:

Paper Mario Wii U
mario and luigi rpg 5
Zelda 2 remake for 3DS - using OOT/MM engine with proper exploreable overworld and same combat system.

Bethesda:

Fallout 4 for 2016
Fallout collection (3, new vegas and dlc) for November 2015 ps4/xbone

Sony:

Gravity rush 2 for ps4
New rhythm game for vita in style of parappa the rapper

As others have said, Sony is not gonna bleed any money, when they're selling so well and making money. 'Losing' the holiday isn't really losing when you still sell lots of consoles at a higher price than your competitor, who you're beating left and right the rest of the year.

Bundles, sure. But I don't see a price drop happening this year, certainly not a big one.

No and no. Come on people, US != World.

Agreed. I don't really know where the "wait until momentum dies before dropping the price" strategy comes from. Sony dropped the PS2 price by $100 a year and a half after the US and European launches and it turned out pretty well for them.

The Xbox has had so many price cuts, special offers and mega bundles so far might actually hurt the console.

Why buy this special offer now when I can wait a few weeks and there will be an even better offer.

You could say there is no point in getting an Xbox now and wait until November for a repeat of the offers and get a Halo bundle for $299 or $249.

Microsoft might make the current special offer a permanent price cut at E3 or announce a slim model. They won't announce both. None of the slim machines last generation got a price cut when they were announced. The price remained the same and it was a new model.

Wonder what Atlus second Ps4 game could be. One is Persona, that's for sure.
Edit: Oh Indie, so something like Rollers of the Realm and Citizens of the earth yes?

The official PS4 price tag will stay at $400 all year. It's already selling fine, plus with the high price tag they can offer deals this holiday that will look very valuable. Sometime next year it will go down to $300-350.

Well, this deal was too good to pass up, so I am finally in, mensch. I can feel the cool and glorious breeze on my face as the train departs the station, the wind through my hair, so much glory is to come in one month and 4 days.

Can't wait for Fallout 4. I skipped 3 because of the clunky controls, I almost bought it the other day but reminded myself not to. I will just wait for 4.

I don't expect this to be a very exciting E3 to be honest. I feel like we already know 90% of what Sony and Microsoft will be bringing to their press conferences. A lot of their stuff has either leaked or was announced too early. Nintendo will probably have a few cool game announcements, but one of them may have already leaked and I kind of think it will feel like an empty year overall for Nintendo with NX being unveiled next year and Zelda still a ways off.

Microsoft
- Forza
- Halo
- Gears
- Tomb Raider
- Rare's game
- Quantum Break
- Crackdown

Sony
- Uncharted 4
- No Man's Sky
- Street Fighter V
- Horizon
- Ratchet & Clank
- Gran Turismo 5?
- Some Morpheus stuff

Then you can probably take all the third-party, multi-plat games that will be shown at these conferences and divide them equally among Sony and MS.
Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy with those lineups, I'm just not expecting any bombshell exclusive announcements from either.
Still incredibly excited though.

Which game?
I doubt this will be an empty year tbh. Disappointing due to the lack of Zelda? Sure, but there can still be some nice stuff, they have announcements coming out of nowhere too.
Treehouse and their other events are always fun too.

Wonder if we'll maybe see borderlands 3. It's been a while since 2 came out so it would be perfect now.
Also hoping for a new xcom game!

Aren't they busy doing Battleborn?

Yea their doing Battleborn (but only think but I still reckon we will see Borderlands 3 as well at E3 this year.

This talk of Gearbox reminds me that Homeworld: Shipbreakers is still coming out (I wonder if we will see any of it on the PC Conference or at E3).

Bipolar post. Begins with you expecting it to be a dud but then ends with you incredibly excited.

Eh there's stuff like MS's new IP and the rare game coming as well.

Sony

- Uncharted 4 story/cutscene trailer.
- No Man's Sky w/release date (if release date isn't announced, it's not coming this year)
- ratchet and clank (gameplay and release date)
- GTA V story DLC.
- Bloodborne DLC (unlikely but praying)
- Street Fighter V (new match-up with two new characters, one returning, one unexpected/new)
- indies (shadow of the beast, alienation & more)
- close with TLG or new 1st party IP.

There'll obviously be some battlefront/battlefield/COD stuff thrown in.

I'm kind of getting weirdly more interested in Microsoft's as we go on? Definitely eager to see what exactly Rare is doing. And also I'm eager to see what the hell Battletoads is, even though I can't imagine it'll be any good. (And I bet it's a Twisted Pixel joint, so that's not inspiring either.)

I think it's just the biggest unknown factor right now. We know Nintendo will bring Star Fox, Fire Emblems, XCX localisation, probably a Pokemon thing, probably Ryu in Smash... and Sony's, well, that's not too hard to figure out either.

Nothing will really make me buy an Xbox, I don't think unless some serious betrayaltons happen but i am really looking forward to seeing Scalebound gameplay.

I don't think anyone really knows what Sony will be doing.

But yeah if MS is truly focusing on 1st party software then I'm interested.

Has to be games that are actually coming out though. None of this announcing games 3 years out to make it look as though they have a loaded line-up business.

I'm super interested to see what MS are gonna show, I'm much less interested in Sony and Nintendo than I imagined I'd be. Rise of the tomb raider is my most anticipated game of the year right now as well, and halo, gears, mmmm.

Uncharted remaster will validate Sony's conference for me doe.
