E3 rumours from our 2ch cousins

I really apologise if this has been posted in the depths of one of the other threads, or if this originated from some posts here, but it seemed like an interesting summary so here it is anyway:

- PS3 development is running behind schedule, the cause is the disc medium.
- As a result, hardware will not be at E3, and software will only be shown as movies.
- Koei, From, Capcom, Konami, Namco, Sega etc are on board.
- Developer tools are somewhat of an improvement over 1st gen PS2's, but nowhere near as easy to use as 360's.
- Wireless LAN and HDD will be included.

- Revolution development is going well. There'll be playable titles at E3.
- 3rd parties include Konami, Namco, Sega, Square Enix etc.
- DS can be used as a controller and some software will make use of the touch panel.
- DS online service starts this year. FFCC and Animal Crossing will be ready for launch.

- Xbox360 dev tools are good in the eyes of developers.
- More than 50 titles will be announced at E3, including some that are only announced by title (i.e. no video / demo)
- Will be released in US and Japan this year. Europe and other regions will be next spring.
- Hardware comes in two flavours: one comes with a 60G HDD and includes B/C with current Xbox. Other one has no HDD and no B/C. HDD will also be sold separately so you can upgrade later.
- Price of HDD model $369, regular model $299.
- Xbox360 will be compatible with MSN Music, and a memory-based audio player that uses the memory unit slot will be sold by MS.
- Audio player will be $99 for 512 MB version.

Edit: I mistranslated the PS3 dev tools bit... fixed. (and sorry!)

$369 with a 60 gig hdd and backwards compatibility? Sold.

I hope that audio player is pretty small. I'd use it as my own version of the ipod shuffle (hopefully without the shuffle part) to load music to use when I'm at the gym.

You'll probably see a lot of PS3-planned titles move to MS or Nintendo. If Blu-Ray and HD-DVD end up merging into a new format, that'll set things back even more.

It's very possible the next gen will look very different than the last two in terms of marketshare.

People said PSP wouldn't be playable at last E3 or wouldn't even be out on the floor. And I don't think anyone ever expected the PS3 to be playable on the floor...I sure as hell never did. I only expect to see it at the conference.

Sony may have a pyramid running Gran Turismo 2006 off a dev station like they did in 2000 :)

$369 means under $400 after tax which is better than I thought. Hopefully this is true and I may actually be able to afford a game :lol

Speculation time!

- Yeah Namco! They're my favorite publisher this generation. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with whatever Nintendo is providing.
- If the third item is true, I guess that's one of the reasons Nintendo decided to use a proprietary wireless protocol in addition to 802.11b. I figure the Revolution controllers will use the same thing in that case. It'll be interesting to see how they plan to ease the confusion of configuring wireless controllers. (Again, if that's all true.)

they'll have playable demos at the very least. unless out of nowhere my reality is gonna get shattered.

So we've gone from 'E3 will not be the Revolutions coming out party' to 'playable'? Curious.

It's not a matter of "even more", format unification is what they're talking about, and even that wouldn't necessarily put the PS3 off track.

These seem quite speculative to me - revolution playable at the show?

This all sounds..very believeable actually :\

I know.... There's nothing on that list that is so far out there that it makes it unbelievable (unless you count Revolution being playable, but still....).

Playable Rev demos sound likely...behind closed doors.
they'll more than likely allow people that wait in a hour and a half + line to check it out for about 15 minutes with a group of others, then get kicked out of the closed off room.

Yeah, just saying I don't see Rev having a huge presence on the show floor.

Nightrain, give us some tidbits on what they'll show at E3. You have connections right?

Yeah, I'm still waiting for the new original id IP he said id was doing for Nintendo and not the PC even though Todd Hollenshead says "PC" every time he talks about their new game. :)

I can't think of any developer who's even mentioned Revolution in passing, when discussing next gen... it's hard to believe they'd all of a sudden have playable games.

Yep, won't be long nower before they drop the spec.

Haha. No. Unless its some first party stuff running on a workstation.

i totally am not endorsing that rumor what so ever, and have said that since i first mentioned it.

connections? what gave you that idea? im not even in the industry :D

I was under that impression, since people ask you things, and some site even posted some stuff you said last.

It would be great to have both the Rev and 360 make an appearance at E3 this year. They are using less exotic hardware than Sony so the rumor is not that far fetched, correct?

I understand these are just rumors, because it's going to take more than just a hard drive to offer 100% BC with the XBox.

Didn’t Reggie say that E3 won’t be the Rev’s coming out party?

Also if Nintendo are gonna show off the rev at E3 how come we’ve had no leaks like the leaky cauldron that is M$. Are M$ shit at keeping NDA’s legit or are Nintendo just VERY good?

Nintendo is very good at keeping secrets, managed to keep the DS design a secret right up till the day of the show when USA Today blew the lid off a couple hours beforehand, and there was also The Zelda Trailer.

someone was telling me there is more to the PS3 delay then just disc medium.

and what would those be? :)

So how can they keep secrets so well, and 3rd parties must now have kits.
Yet M$ have NOTHING left to show us at E3 BAR a bit of game news and footage!! :lol

They are still adjusting the BAR levels. Trying to get it lower. Currently in a trench 5000ft below the surface of the earth.

(I JEST)

:lol
how can such a trivial thing such as disc medium delay the development of ps3? if it was a problem with the memoery, cpu or gpu I could understand..

" Developer tools are worse than the PS2's first term."

Surely that's impossible.

" Price of HDD model $369, regular model $299."

I bet the HDD model costs over 400.
