Actually it would be the best if Sony was the last to come to the scene. That way, both Nintendo and MS could make 10M userbases and at least coexist for another gen.

Forgetting about CELL ? If they see they have lost an ammount of money they won't recover and and that they are likelly to loose a lot more...then jumping to a more classic architecture wouldn't be a bad idea IMO. Of course, that would sound very nasty to the general media...

I'd almost take this as a suggestion of 4 "available" SPEs, but if that's the worst-case scenario..I can live with that. There's a lot of room for "cutting" with Cell, while still retaining a sizeable power lead over the competition (well, X360's rumoured CPU anyway, I've no idea what Nintendo's cooking up).

Of course, you could just be joking too

But I'm paying closer attention to your posts after yesterday

I just hope they're in a position to announce specs at E3 and put some of this to rest one way or another

Given MS Europe operates a flat tiered embargo on information on a per-media basis you do make a lot of claims outside of what you would have been told. I honestly believe that mush information you claim access to but are bound by NDA over is fantasy.

Wow that comes to 461 canadian. They will probably round up to 475. Ouch. That is way too much after taxes, component cables, and launch games. Here's hoping the AV cables are the same for Xbox.

Tthe audio player is going to have a rough time unless it is very good. Sony and Apple already have wicked products @ 512 MB. The shuffle is cheaper and the new Sony lasts 70 hours and actually plays mp3s.

I just re-read it. I assumed nasty from a 'CELL not working' point of view, gamer am sad.

But it could be nasty as in business, Sony bum-raping nasty....i.e. only do a PSX sku that is v.expensive?

John tv is just pessimistic? 1-2 weeks ago he said he didn't know about revolution, but he said he was pessimistic since nintendo has screwed up before.

sounds like what Nintendo tried doing with the Virtual Boy / N64 back in the day. man did that bite them in the ass. actually, pretty much turned Capcom off completely from what i remember.

Of course it was a fully two-way extortion, no innocents on either side, but it's a close enough paralel.

OK, then low clocked or SPE crippled CELL chip in launch units, with full speed after they get their processes sorted.

But that wouldn't work, as then you don't have a solid platform.

They could ship 2xCELL with 4SPE each, then later on move to 1xCELL with 8SPE, but thats just crazy

I don't see what they could do that would fuck up early adopters and not affect the entire market - don't forget, this is a 10 year investment for Sony.
