EARWOLF |OT| Podcasts for Daddy

In other news, the Howl Android app is truly terrible. I got my free month of Howl Premium, but once it's up, there's little chance I'll pay for it. And despite having Howl Premium, I'm still using Pocket Casts to listen to all of my Earwolf podcasts, ads and all. The Howl app is just that bad.

I was primarily interested in Howl Premium for Superego: Forgotten Classics, which did not disappoint. However, there are only two episodes of it so far and no new episodes since the launch of Howl. If we're not going to get somewhat regular updates to it, I'm not going to pay for Howl Premium to get it.

I cancelled my Howl subscription. I have no idea what the release schedule plan is supposed to be for those exclusive shows, it doesn't seem like anything has updated since launch. There's definitely at least one other Superego Forgotten Classics out there, just being sat on.

Instead of updating the original shows (a lot of which have 1 or 2 episodes), they decided to upload comedy albums which I think is sort of baffling. I haven't checked back for a couple weeks since the Android app is absolute trash but Jemaine Clement's show was still not updated?

I think they should have explained that they're just putting up a single episode for now in some cases. I don't understand the schedule.

What are they doing to the format of Who Charted?

The music and the movie charts are going to be just Howard + Kulap without any guest. They will have a guest on for only the third segment.

As long as Howard is on, the show can't be bad. But some of the guests have amazing chemistry with Howard, and it's a shame to see much of that go.

The funny thing is that Howard is clearly against the change and he's said so much. It's Kulap's idea and she won't hear otherwise.

Some of those exclusive shows are just one-offs (like Lapkus' psychic thing), but the website didn't really make it clear what was and wasn't supposed to be regular. I wonder if this and the janky apps are why they haven't pulled old episodes yet.

Well that's shit.

Some of the Andy Daly eps have been pure gold. The chart ones especially have been great. I can't see how limiting guest interaction will better the show.

Been listenin no to a few older CBB eps. They really need to get Wompler and Traci Reardon on a Womp it Up podcast. Every interaction between the two is brilliant.

Weird... why is the Maria Bamford album not on the Howl app (at least on Android)? I can see it at howl.fm.

EDIT: Oh that's weird... it says it releases tomorrow but I can listen to it now?

Only catching up with the latest CBB's....

Why oh why did they loose the "Earwolf radio punto com" at the end!?!?!? That was my favourite part of the podcast, even before the plugs!

btw. that closing up the plugbag theme needs to loose those attachments. It's getting way out of hand!

Oh, Hello’s Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland are about to hit the big time. The faux-community access show created by Nick Kroll and John Mulaney is going to be produced as an off-Broadway play, starring the two actors and running in New York City for about three weeks this December.

GEORGE ST. GEEGLAND (star) was born in Newark, NJ to verbally abusive parents sometime in the early mid 1940s. In 1971 he published his first novel Rifkin’s Dilemma, a real 70’s novel about masturbation and such. It has aged terribly.

Woah, tickets seem to already sold out, they were $65 and $90 so God knows how much they are gonna be on the street.

I've got to comment about HH. Stephanie Allynne's voice and her stifled laughs are always my favorite thing in any Earwolf programs and this one was just her suppressing a laugh the entire time. I think is was ASMR for me.

As a British person literally the only exposure I have had to these characters is their brief appearances on CBB so this seems baffling to me.

Yeah that's more exposure to these characters than most people in the US have--they've also done a version of the Oh Hello show at UCB theaters on both coasts and they showed up regularly on Kroll Show, but those aren't exactly mainstream. Mulaney and Kroll are huge comics and in the mainstream though, so I'm thinking that's the reason they were expensive and sold out so quickly

Sorry for another Howl hate post but I've had it with the Android app. This is the second time I've gotten a bug that makes all the shows disappear in all the menus. There is no way to start a show. The only way to fix it is to Uninstall the app and reinstall it. I tried signing out, restarting my phone, restarting the app - nothing works except a clean install.

I think I'm going to unsubscribe.

EDIT: Now the mobile site isn't working for me. :/

Halloween episode was lackluster. :( Probably because they weren't there together.

yeah, I enjoyed all the segments well enough individually but I don't think it's contentious to say that CBB only gets really great when the various insane characters interact and build something bigger and crazier. The only segment I thought was just okay was Monster Fuck 4, should've stuck with the christmas theme for a little longer before going full repetition

I thought Monster Fuck and Paul Rust made the Halloween episode.

Rust is just the greatest. The way he stupidly commits to the most ridiculous things and then laughs at himself because he sounds so dumb.

I loved in that one i4h where he steamrolled everyone into following his stupid bit about stealing someone's hair.

I don't think I ever heard that one. Any idea what episode?

i4h is in my rotation but on busy weeks, I don't always get the time to listen

I got some of the details wrong but it's from ep85 Animal Lovers, the setup from Crap on Youtube starts around 45 minutes in and the scene itself is a few minutes later.

I think an episode later has a follow up where Besser calls Paul Rust and John Gemberling to get their take on what happened. I'm sure it was in a Best Of collection as well, one the best moments in the show.

My all time favorite part of i4h's. I love that Paul
forces the beard falling off into reality after Matt and John so harshly reject it.
It's a fantastic, insane, and disgusting episode in general.

Also one of my other favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPGmk2nkk68 The cafeteria worker character is amazing. By the way who is that doing the character?

Also this is one of the hardest I've ever laughed at i4h: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siynq1uACWY
You could tell Matt and Eugene were having so much fun with the radio.

If you can't tell I love improv4humans.

Sweet. Thanks. I'll give it a listen.

second Brandon Content episode was awesome. I hope Douglas comes back.

Sean writing for Ash vs. Evil Dead is difficult to reconcile with the HH canon

I don't have earwolf forum account so rather than just speaking my complaint aloud into the ether i'm going to leave it here.

The new Who Charted format doesn't solve the problem they claim they wanted to solve (lack of chart variation) while making it even less dynamic because the guest doesn't participate in those sections to mix it up.

Maybe they were having too many guests who don't care about music or movies and felt put on the spot having to discuss that stuff? I like Howard and Kulap, but I was never compelled to listen to Two Charted and now it seems like the main show is more like Two Charted and less like Who Charted.

Always love zouks and PFT giving Scott shit. Crowning moment this episode being Scott tagging his Druthers Brothers joke with a dejected "...hey-o"

I love the recurring joke of Zouks taking over CBB when Scott inevitably dies - and also marrying the widow Kulap.

Always love zouks and PFT giving Scott shit. Crowning moment this episode being Scott tagging his Druthers Brothers joke with a dejected "...hey-o"

I got a fit of the giggles when Scott referred to Paul and June as "Paul and Diane."

Scott always seems extra prone to flub up his words when either PFT or Zouks are on, so the fact that both of them were on really fucked him over.

I don't think I've ever laughed as hard as I did at that bit in HH episode (I can't remember if it was Cochran, Gourley, or O'Connor; I listened to a shitload in a row) when they're talking about a defibrilator and Sean is doing the beep beep beep and Hayes is like "it goes even faster" and sean goes "beepbeepbeepdoo doo doo doo" and sings some fucking random song i cant even remember now???

HELP?????

Well the real reason is that they don't have time and like you said, the guests rarely ever have anything meaningful to say about the charts. I enjoy Two Charted just as a glimpse in the day to day struggles Howard goes through more so than the general disinterest in the charts they have, so I'm okay with the new format. It ways already basically turning into that anyways. The real loss of the new format is that there are no more custom charts in Two Charted, like Howard choosing his favourite country songs.

Also maybe I'm just bitter because I am into cosmology and astronomy, but Howard's constant lazy slams against scientific discoveries and general interest in space is really getting old. There's a t-shirt coming out so hopefully that signals the end of that bit.

Always love zouks and PFT giving Scott shit. Crowning moment this episode being Scott tagging his Druthers Brothers joke with a dejected "...hey-o"

Yup. Individually, they're great at calling him on his shit but the tag team of them sandbagging his nonsense causing him to flounder always brings out the best moments.
