the We Don't Need Hayes show is both informative (what is it with Sam Mendes and race) and truly heartwarming. maybe the most emotional HH so far. I mean, if this isn't a symbol of true friendship...

Today's HH is unreal. I can't believe how funny Sean is just doing bits with himself for an hour.

Yeah you would've thought he'd run out of steam after the Mendes list, or that some of the puppet interviews would be redundant, but really only one of the puppet interviews was a miss (take your pick which)

Ok opie and Anthony are having a genuine conversation about how nerds are cool and mainstream now and jocks aren't. I'm losing it.

After today's HH, I think the Scuzzman might be the best new character of the year. With this rainy cold weather, I could totally use a hot beach injection.

Up to HH 43, Alex Borstein.

Not exaggerating when I say I 30-second backed and listened to Hayes' laugh at her IKEA/divorce joke over a dozen times.

I think my record for most rewinds to listen to a joke again was Victor's "th.. thirty minutes" after being asked how much longer his date story was going to last without any interruptions in episode 343 of CBB. I loved that so much that I re-downloaded the episode again the other day just to listen to it again. Every Victor and Tiny episode is amazing though. Oh god, their podcast. I just remembered about their podcast with the dentist!

Started listening to HDTGM last week and it's so good

I like the live episodes more. Anyone else? I think it's because in the live ones, they're making jokes and such to entertain a crowd while in the others, they're just discussing the movie. So the live ones end up funnier IMO

The live ones are really good but they do them almost exclusively now. It's too much.

Weren't the archives supposed to have gone behind the paywall by now?

I wonder if they're having second thoughts.

Yeah they were. Probably realized that if they can't regularly put out premium content then locking the archives behind the paywall would be extra shitty

My gut feeling is that they are having issues locking down the RSS or are waiting for the Howl apps to be better. Or maybe they're waiting until they can figure out RSS feeds you can take out of Howl for subscribers.

Today's CBB is great

Odenkirk, cross and PFT(loves his character

It was weird how Odenkirk sounded like the oldest grandpa who was barely aware he was on a podcast. Still amazing with how two of them played off it though. David Cross's disgust at the plug themes was hilarious too.

Awesome episode of HH today. I think I just really missed the Sean and Hayes dynamic. Last week's podcast felt flat to me, the best part being when Sean dialed in. This podcast is all about Sean and Hayes' dynamic with each other and the guest.

On a related note, is anyone watching The Grinder? It's my second favorite comedy on TV right now (behind Review). I am glad that both Hayes and Sean wrote for it.

I think I'm done with Howl (the app and the service). I don't really care to listen to any of the new shows (and I haven't yet), and none of the features really entices me (I have like 70 GB of Earwolf podcasts backed up).

I already listen to way too many podcasts, and I don't get through With Special Guest, let alone 2 or 3 other Lauren Lapkus (who I'm starting to not really enjoy) podcasts.

I was going to keep it to support the network, but eh.

I just tried it out and it's true: you have to make that noise while putting on lipstick. unavoidable.

are there actually rumors of them semi-aborting Howl like Hayes said? I've also noticed in recent weeks of Earwolf stuff that more ads have been for other earwolf shows as if sponsors are pulling back, and it seemed like a couple shows made comments about nobody donating for a while.

on the CBB side: drums! Hanford is a top contender for best regular guest of the year.

Hollywood Handbook is just the best podcast. Period. I love it. I want everyone to love it. If you love HH donate to it for Christmas. Or anytime, but that's when I do most of my donating stuff.

on Howl: that HH bash on the previous ep seemed pretty on point. my bet is they'll just go back on the whole thing

They should just go back on the paywall for archives and rethink their approach. I would pay for a premium podcasts. The problem is that they seem kind of thrown out there and there's not a lot of word on if podcasts will continue or how many total episodes some are having, etc. Also the Lapkus one was super dumb. It was sort of interesting at first to get some background on Lauren but they censored out all the juicy stuff. I understand why, but... what's the point?

Hail Howl had me rolling (was that on the last episode of one I've relistened to a million times o_O)

I did just hear the first Toilet band ad on HH (47, I think?).

"This is the only people that will give money to our fucking show."

I fucking died.

And then they did the play reenactment with Zoe Jarman with Chinese General Bill and I was I think literally in tears.

HDTGM:

"What's its mission?"

Oh my god I love June so much.

There really needs to be a super cut of all the quotes from June about her distrust/fear of technology. I just happened to listen to the Runaways episode and June's absolute horror at Jason's reasonable explanation for why a podcast started playing when the TV turned off was amazing.

So is Howl still not blocking archives behind a paywall? Really hope they decided not to go through with that.

I'm willing to pay for Howl but they're going to have to get their app on par with beyondpod or Pocket Casts before then. Or just do premium rss feeds like everyone else.
