I hope Garfunkel and Oates are on soon. I just caught their show on IFC and it's pretty good. Weird that they had Ben Kingsley on as a cameo, lol.
The show's decent so far. Seen the one free episode on youtube and the premiere. Music's nice, rest of the show's just alright.
Looks like the CEO of Earwolf has stepped down, and they are gonna expand quite a bit:

http://earwolf.com/episode/scott-aukerman-co-founder-of-earwolf/

It's also interesting how much the site has grown over the years. Apparently they are acquiring a podcast for $1 million dollars. It's kinda crazy that they can be worth so much.

I thought the 1 mil deal was for midroll. meaning they made a $1million offer to manage the advertising on the unnamed podcast, however that works exactly. that was how Jeff made it sound

WOMP UP THE JAMZ!!!

It's been about a year that I've listened to CBB because I remember the pool party being one of the first I listened too and I was very confused.

EDIT: Happy fwiggin' birfday.

Oh Tiny and Victor are back! Underrated characters IMO. Listening now.

EDIT: Holy shit, Tiny and Victor are among my favorites. When the dentist started talking I lost it.

That was some of the hardest I've laughed from a podcast. When he said "flash driiiive" or whatever I lost my shit.

I was very happy to hear Scott doing character work this episode. And it wasn't completely terrible! :p

Also, what's the record on most characters on a mic at one time? There was a lot this episode.

So what are the best Earwolf podcats/must see episodes? I've only listened to How Did This Get Made and I love it. The chemistry between the three of them are great.

Best episode of any earwolf podcast is travel bug with august lindt on the Andy Daly podcast pilot project.

If anyone here hasn't listened, please do.

Anything Scott's a host for. Analyze Phish and U Talkin U2 don't have enough episodes to have good starting points and they build up crazy inside jokes so ep 1 is the go to for either of those. Comedy Bang Bang is even better and long running, there are enough good episodes and there are different kinds of episodes sort of--some are character heavy and unhinged, some are comedians dicking around, most are somewhere in between. I'd just find an episode with a comedian/actor/person you already like and listen to that, honestly.

Other ones I like: The Fogelnest Files but that's only good if you like Jake's cult sensibilities. Professor Blastoff isn't as hysterical as others can be but the handful of episodes I've heard are good listens. I haven't heard enough of who charted but it seems to have one of the bigger followings of earwolf listeners. Andy daly podcast pilot project is basically a CBB spinoff so id save that. Improv4humans can be real funny.

I don't think it's my favorite overall, but I love it, and it's definitely the best of the Andy Daly podcasts. Still relisten to it regularly. When Besser starts saying "Oooh la la!" as the kid and the other people have no idea how to react, I lose it.
Honestly, one of my favorite things they've ever done is the Christmas Womptacular, but you need to know the backstory there. Everyone is firing on all cylinders.
For CBB you really have to listen to a few to really get it. When I first started it I was so confused, but I kept listening and then understood Scott and the characters.

And I have to mention improv4humans. A lot of talent on that show, and there are some amazing moments. Consistently great, I think.

Improv4Humans has some moments of transcendence, some moments of banality, and a decent amount of Matt Besser's head being up his own ass (and I say this as someone who agrees with a lo of his stuff). Still, though, there's nothing else like it and it deserves all the listens it can get. I listen to it every week, while I can skip some CBBs without beating myself up over it.

Any Comedy Bang Bang's with Andy Daly would be a fantastic start. Same with Horatio Sanz and Seth Morris who are also fantastic on CBB and Improv for Humans. I would suggest you check out Improv for Humans. It's a much more "pure" comedy form, the entire show is kind of like what the second half of CBB becomes. Any Improv4humans with the two guys listed above or Sean Conroy is guaranteed to be madcap and hilarious. Those are just four of the MVP's that drift between CBB and I4H.

If you like Jason Mantzoukas then look at his CBB stuff, he gets even more vulgar and gross.

Here's a simple breakdown of the shows.

CBB - It starts out as a interview then a absurd character barges in and they play around like that for the last 2/3's

Improv 4 Humans - Seasoned veteran and founder of Upright Citizens Brigade Matt Bessar does a couple hours of long form improv with some of his best colleagues. Comedy start to finish.

Sklarbro Country - The most topical show. They banter back and forth with a guest on the topics of the week. Favorite ep is their interview with the guy who hosts Hoarder's and they discuss the wild shit he sees. http://www.earwolf.com/episode/flat-cats/

Cracked - The most podcast like. A topic is discussed and they get deep into the implications and hidden meanings of broad subjects. Not funny but I always look forward to them.

Analyize Phish and U Talkin' U2 to Me - Discussions centered around each band. Phish is about getting one guy to try to like Phish, it's a fun journey. U2 is just two guy talking about each U2 album. These may sound extremely niche but they are fun and it's nice having a purpose for a show.

Prof. Blastoff - A discussion show about a specific scientific topic and the home of Tig Notaro. This show can get pretty off-track but Notaro and her relationship with the two other hosts is so familial, full of love, support, and chiding that their personalities guide the show. Favorite Ep, Sarah Silverman shows up to discuss dating one of the male hosts and some truly embarrassing stories are revealed. http://www.earwolf.com/episode/sexual-attraction/

The Andy Daly Podcast Pilot Project - This is Andy Daly doing his characters from CBB for the entire length. If you knew what that meant you would have already listened to them all by now.

Topics - Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter. These two play their fictional counterparts. Kind of like how Stephen Colbert has his "Stephen Colbert," character. If you like The State, Stella, or their short lived Michael & Michael Have Issues you know what you are getting. Stupid things taken "seriously," both this and the show below have a concept that may be a hurdle if you don't get it.

Hollywood Handbook - Similar to the how the "characters" above behave this show focusing on two Hollywood Insiders who feel they have insight and wisdom to give when really they are insecure, needy rich-kids desperate to cling to their supposed coolness. But it gets quite strange when they tell stories. For instance the last ep took a 8 minute tangent where one described the pain he felt when the other fooled him into having sex with a mannequin.

The Fogelnest Files - A sampling of the bizarre vids found on YouTube. But this is Earwolf and it's Jake Fogelnest so don't worry about content fillers or people falling down. Preview it with a "best of" ep but also understand that he knows how to encourage his guests to share so you can miss some insightful interviews if you avoid his show. http://www.earwolf.com/episode/the-best-of/

The Kevin Pollack show and the Jimmy Pardo show are straight interviews but both hilarious and insightful. It's like if Terri Gross from NPR's Fresh Air were a comedian and quite belligerent.

Who Charted? - A straight interview show between two chummy hosts and a myriad of famous performers. Like the shows above these are the least gimmicky of the shows, it's guided instead by two seasoned hosts.

The stuff I missed I don't really check in on. I did like the first 4 eps of Nerd Poker but I was listening to it as I played Diablo III. Once I beat the campaign I stopped listening, maybe someone else can give a good description of it.

Highlights of the above shows include

The Marisa Whomler saga - In all of her CBB appearances Jessica St. Clair plays a hypersexual, hyper-active, teen in highschool who can't win at life. it gets even better when she teams up with her former marine-sniper, insane, domineering teacher Ms. Listler

Defending Bestiality - Three of the best Improve 4 Humans guests get into a discussion of bestiality when the intern plays them that one famous clip on the internet. When Jon Gabrus too readily defends the practice he is invited back

I'm tired from posting all that but there are still so many funny people on the shows. The best thing about the Earwolf network is if you hear a fantastic show you just need to go find all the other eps that person/character has appeared in and pretty soon it's impossible to list who are the best performers. But I can't leave without mentioning Tim Robbins.

Yeah, I feel exactly the same way. Besser is great, but god... there are some moments where I just shake my head. Still... he's definitely passionate. :p And he's an amazing improviser.

EDIT: Also... to name another great comedian on Earwolf, check out Lauren Lapkus. She's become one of my recent favorites. She's frequently on Comedy Bang Bang and Improv4humans.

I didn't like that Hollywood handbook description. Go in with the idea that everyone there is telling the truth and you'll absolutely love it. Dont think of them as 2 rich insecure kids.

I was thinking of all the hate-mail they get from people who don't seem to understand the show when I wrote that description. In reality, if you can't understand why it's funny after listening to it then no amount of explaining will do it for you. I sold my affection for the show short to appeal to everyone.

I should mention I think Hollywood Handbook delivers the best and most laughs per minute and can only be beat in terms of hilarity on the days that CBB or L4H knocks it out of the park.

Oh god, the post that mentioned Seth Morris has just reminded me of one of my all-time absolute favourite things on CBB: Bob Doucca's list of ailments from episode 51. So good.

Hot tub foot?

I've never listened to (or even heard of) Hollywood Handbook, I'll have to check it out.

"Good guy, great cat." Except for its shitdick, of course

Gino became an all-timer charac with this ep I think. Not that he wasn't fantastic before, but this was him on the top of his game.

I can't say I'm much of a fan of Don't Stop Or We'll Die's music, but Paul likes chemicals so much he's like a Walter White over here.
Yea I just couldn't call myself a fan of Paul's voice...but on the other hand he likes chemicals so much that he's more like a Walter White.

Whoever it was that recommended Hollywood Handbook, thank you. That's gone way up there in my favourite podcasts now, and I'm only about 5 or 6 in. So funny. I lose it whenever they lay into the engineers, ha. Can't believe I missed it before!

If enjoy that, half the episodes of Who/Two Charted is Howard ripping into Engineer Cody Cody. In the last episode, Cody forgot to press record for the first 10 minutes so they had to redo it.

Engineer Cody Boy was going to be such a great film, it's a shame that bastard jacked their shit and only used 12 years of material.

Them shitting on the engineers is probably my favorite running joke in Earwolf.

Sean fed Engineer Cody Sam a fast break a couple weeks ago and hearing them describe how he ate with no jaw strength was just too funny.

I wonder if Sam can eat hamburger sandwich?

I wish there was a proper listing of all the times they've horribly demeaned the engineers. One of my favorites was when a engineer sneezed and they just shut the show down.

Yes, 45 minutes of Whalberg.

Florida lifted the ban on gay marriage. If Florida is lifting the ban everyone just get in fucking because Florida is last in everything. There's 17-year-olds in Florida that just learned the letter "b."

What are your guys favorite guests on Earwolf podcasts besides PFT and Andy Daly?

For me personally its Paul Rust and Lauren Lapkus. I'll listen to any podcast with either of those two on. If it has both of them then I'm in heaven.

I really like them too. Lauren Lapkus is consistently funny, she brings a lot to a podcast and I really like to see her play off other characters. Paul Rust is also great, and I really like him on Improv4Humans. The scene where Tom Petty's beard fell off may be GOAT. Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham always make me laugh, together or separately. I wish Adomian wasn't as hit or miss as he is. Tom Leykis is one of my favorite characters ever on the show. I also really like The Sherrif of Nottingham, and a lot of his other characters are funny. He just usually goes too extreme, usually sexually, and he can be too overbearing for many guests.

Joe Wengert is also a great improviser. Him and Lauren do a lot of stuff together.
