MvC3 has the biggest cast of unused characters I've ever seen
You never see Felicia, Hsien, Morrigan, Arthur, Haggar, MODOK, Spiderman, Capt. America, Thor, Deadpool, Super Skrull, Chun Li, Joe, X23, Ryu, Chris, Iron Man, Hulk, or Viper in tournament play
Fun to watch, but sheer unbalanced trash
Incorrect post in many ways. Biggest cast of unused character belongs to MVC2... 10 characters used vs 46 unused.
Felicia played by Josh Wong and JChen with Josh making her extremely solid as both as an assist for lockdown/unblockables and anchor.
Hsien Ko and Haggar are used by a lot of people for their powerful assists. LLND and Airtola are examples of Hsien Ko. Hsien Ko is used with Chris a lot. Haggar is extremely popular he sees play in almost every tournament I have seen because his assist is just that good.
KBeast, Chrisis and MarlinPie are very regular and consistent Viper players. C Viper is a top character that only doesn't get played because she is high execution
FlashMetroid is a very regular and consistent player of Iron Man and has picked up Spider Man recently, bodying people with Spider Man. Spider Man and Iron Man are both high execution near top characters.
EvilRahsaan has been a day 1 player of Spider Man and still plays him to effeciency.
Ryu... Chris G 'nuff said. If you haven't seen ChrisG play Ryu you should not be talking here.
PGorath is a consistent player of V.Joe and Shuma. He makes great use of the Shuma assist and him on anchor. V Joe has been used by quite a few people most notably FlashMetroid.
Deadpool is used almost exclusively by HoriTatsu along with X-23. 10Stars and DevilJin are also players who play X-23 pretty much anytime they play.
Super Skrull was the highlight at PowerUp tournament in the Teams MVC3 match Big Marcus owned up all the top players with Skrull on anchor. IGT also uses Skrull on point.
Hulk and Thor played by Mike Ross. More people play Hulk than Thor due to easy of use.
Captain America is played by a few people but never too good result. He is just really bad admittedly.
Morrigan is used by quite some people and her meter building assist is a good asset to have. I don't know the name but a particular player was using Trish/Morrigan/Phoenix and it was just really cheap.
I would agree on little play from Arthur, Chun Li and MODOK although out of these 3 MODOK is played more and with better results. If you want to see particular characters play then you should follow particular streams and particular players (like the aforementioned).
Metagame of MVC3 right now is abuse the proven cheap stuff and worry about hidden technology after EVO. Right now the cheap stuff is Wolverine and Phoenix. Right now, I would say that out of the 36-38 characters in the game more than half are solid, competitive characters (like 20) with the remaining 16 or so about 10 will rise up to tournament level with the bottom 6 or 7 will almost never be seen because they are just genuinely bad.
This sort of tiering is NORMAL in a fighting game in fact oddly enough MVC3 is one of the more balanced games out there.
