higher profit margins makes sense for anyone >_>
Well the BOM could be the same, Kinect could eat $50 of it.

You guys think there are moles in both companies?
There has to be right?
I'd think that both companies get a lot of their information about the other through 3rd party devs.
I have a question,
wasn't the PS3 more powerful than the 360?
That didn't help much, it should not be the focus. Better to understand how that power will be used.
MS already has me in a stage where I trust them no matter what they do next gen. They earned my business.
I'm hoping PS4 really does push the envelope, and comes back strong. I want competition. I don't want their top be just one console to choose from.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but
PSP (launch unit) = 32MB RAM x 16 = 512
PSV = 512MB RAM
PS1 = 2MB RAM x 16 = 32
PS2 = 32MB RAM x 16 = 512
PS3 = 512MB RAM X 16 = 8192
PS4 = 8GB RAM
Hell yeah, Edge is right![]()
All the people bitching about the European release will promptly not give a fuck when its released...lol.

Not sure if someone already mentioned this as I skimmed through some pages, but my speculation to the recording method that they are not letting the OS actually record a video.
Instead, it will use raw game data to create the video and recreate what happened (which happens to be the mentioned 'last 15 minutes' here). I can see this saving resources on the HW and not straining it by doing what a capture device or FRAPS would do. I am not sure how it will work with different games though and whether or not developers use it.
Pretty much what I was thinking, how many EU people today are still pissed that the PS3 was released in March 2007 instead of November 2006?![]()
Why not just be aggressive and increase their lead in Europe while launching first in US and Japan?I'm sure Sony is well aware of this as well. MS needs to fight the battle in the EUR this next gen and Sony needs to catch up in the US. Japan is lost to handhelds.

If they launch later in the EU than Durango that will be a massive, massive mistake. Sony don't have the EU mindshare to come back hard there this time around. The XBOX brand is much bigger these days.

Or maybe they will actually let it record everything as an actual video from the start...maybe leaving it as optional?
As for the EU release: Come on, it is just a few months difference. >_>

The PS4 hardware will continually record the most recent 15 minutes of onscreen action (with no processing penalty, claims our source), which users will then be able to edit and broadcast via the Internet.
Is the PS5 going to launch in 2020 with 128GB of RAM?

Wasn't this similar to the PS3 and the 360?
both had same amount of total RAM, 512mbs.
but half of Sony's RAM was faster RAM right?
Really? With paying for ads? PS+ is a much better deal
In the UK? Maybe.
In the rest of EU? Hell no.

does this chart come with numbers?
actually, don't answer that. I don't care.

So you'd need to own the game to see the video? I think that defeats what should be part of the idea, which is promote games to friends etc. If the hardware is designed to do it without cost, like the article suggests, then it shouldn't be an issue.
That approach would be way too non-general and messy.
I've little doubt the OS is simply passing the final output frames to a video encoder and letting it buffer video away to the HDD in the background.
I actually didn't realise initially that it's supposedly always on, always holding the last 15 minutes. Much better than capturing started and stopped by the user...this way you won't miss any sudden, unexpected moments.
I'm guessing the system has dedicated hardware to support Vita Remote Play. If you're not using RP, the stream will get dumped on the HDD and hitting the share button will let you save/edit/post the last 15 minutes.Not sure if someone already mentioned this as I skimmed through some pages, but my speculation to the recording method that they are not letting the OS actually record a video.

Europe fucked YET AGAIN.
What would a power house PC have in terms of RAM then? haha
It will be hilarious if after all the hype Sony manages to fuck it all up with something like blocked used games

Ok this is a legitimately amazing/innovative feature for a console and it has actual practical benefits. For once an innovation that isn't a gimmick, if true.
the first thing that came to mind when i read about the video sharing feature was this:

except now, using a ps4, you actually can show them online!
