Best dark souls formula improvement? Being able to roll up on a situation and saying, nah son, fuck that while jumping on your horse/manticore hybrid and dipping the fuck out in the opposite direction.

It’s also super satisfying to just jump right up into the face of annoying flying enemies and slice em.

Game is now capped at 30fps for me, which is fine. Haven’t noticed any hitching so maybe that patch helped out.

About 8 or 9 hours in. Wrapped up the
castle to the south of Limgrave
. Still some exploring there to do as I don’t have the map yet.

On my way back there now after felling Godrick, haven't found the map either but explored a large portion of the area already, didn't go beyond the bonfire of "that place" though.

Running about on torrent laying waste to groups is great fun. Starting to farm runes nicely. Nice to hear other people had trouble with Margit and just went to explore. That’s what I’m doing now. Heading south and found a nice trail to farm enemies. Need to get a site of grace soon though go level up. This is so much fun.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
22 hours and still in the first area.

I think I've done everything there is to do in Stormveil Castle, and also cleared Castle Mourne. I'll clear that peninsula next before moving onwards to the north towards Raya Lucaria.

Stormveil sure is peak souls level design, and I struggle to think of any souls area with so many different paths and areas to explore, and the different ways in which you can tackle them. Also lots of secrets! After killing the big boss I still had a lot of castle to explore.

I'm loving the game. 10/10 well deserved since, even if the game isn't perfect, imo ot's miles above anything else.

Are you just roaming around hoping to find the map piece (like what i did at first lol) or are you aware of the tiny little rectangle on unmapped regions showing where the map plinth is

Interesting, I will need to see what this mysterious "rectangle" you speak of is 👌

I fucking hate castle morne. That blob shit freaks me the fuck out.

i can't beat the tree sentinel lmao. i know it's only the first mini boss but i'm getting my ass kicked. best i got was getting health down to ~60%. the movement feels so clunky and not as responsive as i'd like. reminding me of DS2 a bit lol.

I think this is the most incredible world I've experienced and combined with the Souls combat, this really is one of the best games I've played so far.

However it needs to be said that if you hated Dark Souls and read "this game is easier" and "more accessible", what they mean is that you're not going to replay entire sections over and over again just to get to the boss to die. The shortcuts are a lot more frequent. In other words, the QoL features make world traverse easier and knowing where to go, but if you still struggle with stamina control, using defenses, and knowing when to attack then you're not going to enjoy this at all.

For me? This is easily going to win GOTY on my website. I'm playing on PS5 and it looks great, story isn't clear (thankfully), and it plays exactly how I wanted it to. This is this gens Bloodborne.

It's funny how it works when you know what you're doing. First 20 hours and I'm level 30 without beating a main boss. I had way to much fun taking it all in. Second magic focused character, 4 hours and I'm the same level. I've cleared more with my first character but still, knowing where to go to level up faster makes such a difference.

This game is crack.

there is one thing i dont understand yet.. Is this game build with getting lots of different weapons or do most people use their base weapon for the whole playtrough? Kinda dissapointed with loot so far.. Im a warrior and have not found anything that is a better new cool shiny weapon
just upgrading my base weapon and that gets kinda boring.
I have like 10 weapons already and just 4 hours in
You gotta explore every inch of the map, this game is high risk high reward

Jesus. I literally just spent the better part of a day trying to beat the tree sentinel and I finally got him. I literally haven't done a single other thing in the game. Saw that motherfucker and started fighting and couldn't stop.

It was painful at times, but man, what a great boss fight. I probably had 100 fights with him and each one was a little different. The boss ai and animation is just top notch.

I guess I better start playing the game now or something. Definitely back in the Dark Souls swing of things now.

I’ve played every Soulsbourne game + DLC and honestly some of these bosses seem really difficult.

How much of the overall map is Limgrave? Someone told me there is more to the game than this zone but it seems huge ive been playing for 10 hours and havent even explored half of it properly

You are not kidding. I’ve beat margit but still exploring limgrave.
Far east is hell.
Finally found the place you recommended holy fuck. How from soft. How?! How there is whole landscape of game in every direction. You open a door and there is 5hours of optional area. I am overwhelmed. It is amazing
That place is fucking amazin.

(kinda) activating the boss is hard as a boss fight as well

After 40 plus attempts and being severely underleveled I finally beat the first boss. His ethereal blades were Tash to deal with without a shield.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

I dont get it.. I go into stromveil castle.. But then get to a room that is locked and this incredible strong dude with a shield is there and I cant progress anymore :/

That room is a pretty harsh difficulty spike, especially when you're a melee character and you can't keep distance.

Also doesn't help that you have to make your way through the entire bit before you reach the room again. This whole bit feels like an homage to Dark Souls.

Tried it three times and said "fuck this" and left the castle to explore elsewhere.

Erdtree sentinel at the very beginning has a pretty rad weapon I use as a strength built wretch.

This fight is best done on the horse I feel, went toe to toe with the dude jousting back and forth and it was so much fun

Anyone tried the PS4 version on PS5?

The frame rate on PS5 version is pretty bad for me. Thinking of starting a new game using PS4 locked 60 fps on PS5.

People keep saying 1/10th. Given that fast travel is arranged by zones, and that LIMGRAVE (for me at the moment) has several zones and there's a lot of space at the top for other areas (Legacy Dungeons have their own tabs) I think the technical term for the size of the game world is "thick as oatmeal."

. . .although, as mentioned in this thread and reviews, the side dungeon innovations can only go so far. It seems they didn't use the random layout generator that they had for Chalice Dungeons to make them so you're in for repeats (including of bosses).

Jesus, thats insane!!! I found the area with Castle Morne in, is that still Limgrave or a new area? I dont have the map fragment yet

Yeah, and that area is freaking huge, too. And let's just say there are some graduates of the Anor Londo archery school down there, too.
Lighting the fires was the easy part about that area because you're invincible during the animation! But just getting around was a pain in the ass. Those arrows hit like a truck.

What is the screaming in Limgrave? Is it the bat enemies? I was just casually strolling around earlier and heard a male voice crying out in pain but couldn't find the source.

I've upgraded my base axe quite a few times and I'm doing quite fine with it. The exotic stuff will come, just keep exploring.

Anybody else think the game is absolutely breathtaking? I am standing on a cliff with my horse, with the golden tree looming in the backgroud, my character is full of detail, the surroundings breath atmosphere, loving it.
Yeah it's quite something. Had to install Flawless Widescreen to get the aspect ratio to match my monitor and its even more stunning in ultrawide.

This is for souls vets:
So far been pumping all my runes into Vigor and upgrading my battle axe via the blacksmith. Vigor so I can take more hits. I'm a pretty patient one at boss fights so don't mind rolling x100 times to get in smack on the bum then rinse & repeat.
Is Vigor and Weapon upgrade a good idea for a beginner? Currently level 21.
What else should I look to be upgrading alongside these attributes? I haven't found any exotic weapons yet that require higher strength level so don't see the need to upgrade that. Well apart from the axe thingy that I got from beating that big ass horse boss at the start of the game.

Are you playing online with it?
Nah not playing online with this running. I'm quite enjoying solo play.

I've got an ultrawide too, hopefully they will patch it in. I can live without and playing online, but would rather have it ofcourse. :)
Imagine my surprise finding out this game didn't have ultrawide support. More developers need to add this options especially if they plan to release on PC too.

Just hit the 10 hour mark. Having a total blast with this game. There have been a few times I've felt kinda frustrated, but that's just the game's way of telling me I need to go somewhere else and explore something else to get stronger. My Samurai is level 40, almost full points into dexterity. I can kill those stormhill giant guys in like 10 hits (sometimes less with crits) which makes them pretty easy to farm for 1,000 runes each (sometimes they randomly give 5,000?).

Beat two "main" bosses. 10 or so mini bosses. Beat the dragon in the lake by the starting area. Not really sure where I'm "supposed" to be going next, but I'm having fun exploring.
There's a black knight on horse to the far right of the map which drops like 40 000 runes when you lure him up the hill from the bridge he patrols. The path up the hill is laced with poison so when you get him to chase you up that path his health drops a bit and then he just fucking dies.
40 000 runes in your pocket without you having to swing your blade lol.

Being a boss you obviously can't farm him but that's the easiest truck load of runes you're gonna get haha.

Got me my uchi tho. Bleed Pretty strong. I still don't know where I'm going with this character.

I would like From to make it a bannable offense to post "secret wall" or similar on a normal wall. I don't get the joke, it's just annoying AF.

Also, does anyone else think the player comments look to similar to loot in this game? I'm constantly going out of my way to check out a possible item, only to discover a message like "Not mushroom, but hole".

Yes. Castle Morne is considered part of Limgrave. It does have it's own map fragment though, so I suppose it is considered it's own area (well at least a part of an area separate from the Limgrave neighborhood of. . .Limgrave. Each area has it's own subareas).
