ELDEN RING |OT| One Ring To Rule Them All

You can find the flail in
a chest in the camp where you find the Whetstone Knife.

As to your second question the answer is yes, to a degree. If you're a pure sorcerer than its probably not worth it as there's a talisman that increases your casting speed to a pretty significant degree. If you're more of a spell sword then you should raise it enough to wield whatever weapon you'd like to wield and then reassess your casting speed. If its still too low try the talisman, its probably not worth investing in DEX just for the speed.
Awesome thanks. I'm going for a spellsword with a leaning towards 75% spell, 25% sword.

I know but I mean you return to where you were before the trap when you die, right? Or can fast travel back?

Being stuck in an seemingly impossible boss area would be brutal.

So far I’ve always been able to back out of impossible fights, that’s one of the reasons I think the difficulty is not ruining the game for me. I’ve lost the runes I held if I get killed but otherwise I haven’t seen any concequences and can safely walk the other way and explore instead. I hear people talking about mandatory bosses though so maybe it’ll become more frustrating later.
Ah yeah I misunderstood. I didn't realize he was teleported like ... directly into the boss fight. Then yeah the game shouldn't force you to basically win or stop playing.

Haven't had this happen to me yet. Pretty brutal!

Is the Tree Sentinel spoilery? It’s seen at the start of the game so I don’t think so, but if it is:

Keep at him! Felt nice to be able to ride around there fearlessly once you take him out.

Appreciate the spoiler tag man. I wish others would be a little courteous and use them too. A lot of us are still in Limgrave.

Well i feel dumb. Blank is OP.

Used the key to get into the room with mimic chest but never went thru til after i beat Blaidd. Got the mimic now and its fucking OP. Killed the Lord and King easily. This is like cheating, lol. My ass forgot to use the exp pots on those 2 mobs, could’ve got more runes.

The game surely feels like most later boss battels are designed with spirits.
They are dumb and dont do much dmg but the deistraciton is welcome.
Summons are still summons... boss hp gets such a big boost, it's rarely worth it.
I dont think sprits rise boss hp

Swift_Star Swift_Star yes. Like most major "bad asses streamers" who play games every day for 12 hours and say "bruh this game is easy, I want challange not cheap summons"... that's why these games difficulty sucks for most of us

i'm ~14 hours in and haven't faced the first boss yet. seems to have only been mini bosses so far. im lvl 25 with +4 sword +2 shield. unlocked 3 map areas. every time i say i'm going to go face the boss i end up going to explore. i know i'm still at the start of the game but holy shit From Software knocked it out the park with this game. I'm going to struggle going back to Dark Souls. I really hope Elden Ring isn't a one off like Bloodborne/Sekiro and they plan on doing Elden Ring 2.

I don't get how magic damage works. Maybe someone here can help me.

I am playing a prisoner, so my main stats are dex and int. I found the horn bow and it has 30 magic damage. It should do more damage than the longbow because physical and magic damage combined should be greater than the physical damage of the longbow. However, the Longbox outperforms the Horn Bow against every type of enemy. I wonder if the magic damage of the Horn Bow can only be had when using a special kind of arrow and not with standard arrows. Which would suck. Because I need a bow only form some situations when I want to snipe an annoying enemey from afar.

Just started playing on PS5. WOW, the performance is even worse than I thought it would be. There's CONSTANT hitching, the game is NEVER a smooth 60. Ever. Even in the tiny room you start in, where there's literally nothing going on, there's hitching just from turning the camera around. Really pathetic. I think I would prefer a 30fps cap over this, but we all know FromSoft is incapable of properly implementing one of those.

Having fun other than that though.

A question: When you finish a dungeon or whatever (which I guess you've done when you've killed the boss), is there any indication of this on the map, or do you have to keep track of what you've already done and not yourself?

apparently it's better to play the PS4 version on PS5 than the PS5 version lol. so might explain your problems. i'm on PC and there's some minor frame drops but performance is great. hopefully they patch the PS5 version lol.

nah there isn't. what i do is mark caves/catacombs/etc with markers if i haven't been in. once i clear them then remove them. i keep a mental note of the ones i've cleared and if there's no marker then i either haven't discovered it or i've beat it. it's not too difficult to deal with tbh.

I bought the physical PS5 version though, so I have no way to access the PS4 version.

Alright, thanks. I was thinking of maybe marking COMPLETED ones, but maybe there won't be enough markers for that?

Or maybe I should just not treat the game as a checklist of things to complete. But that's hard for me, lol.

Gotta love the fact that this is the most cheese-able Souls game in years. :D

Probably a bad thing but I get a lot of pleasure out of figuring out the lowest effort ways to get wins!

i discovered the siofra well (i think that's what it was called). i went straight back up that lift cause i ain't ready for that shit yet lol. reminds me of blighttown and blackreach from Skyrim. don't think i'm meant to be there yet. i'll go back later lol.

that sucks. hopefully they'll fix the PS5 version then.

i think you only are allowed up to 100 markers so it's better to only mark ones you discover and remove when completed. it can be a bit of a pain to remember what you have done but as long as you think what areas you've been too. i'm not going too far off the main route so all the stuff i've cleared is behind me and the markers are my current progress if that makes sense?

Highly recommend doing the Crystal Cave sidequest. The Cave itself isn't too difficult and the item you get from the boss allows you to buy Level 1 & 2 Smithing Stones from the Twins at the Roundtable.

Use a blunt type weapon. The Morningstar was really effective against the enemies.

Friend and I were having big issues with Draconoc, probably lost to him 20+ times. Summoned some random dude who absolutely demolished in 10 seconds. Messaged him and got him to join us again to help us in my friends game. What a dude.

After 80 hours, decided to restart my game. . .on PS5. The performance issues on PC are just out of control and was really starting to grate on my experience.
If you're doing that play the PS4 version (on PS5). It's a significantly better experience. And if they patch it later (history says they won't), you can always transfer the PS4 version to PS5 (but not vice-versa).

So I thought I would only play this for about 40ish hours. Ended up fully clearing the map (what I found) in 80 hours. Finished at level 155 but I ran past all the enemies in the final two side areas. Looked up the achievement side bosses I'd missed after beating. Vacation well spent back to work now. Don't have to listen to my partner say "you are playing that again?" anymore at least.

Game is amazing.

Just want to add that one hit ko moves are really BS and shouldn’t be in any game. It’s really trash to have the boss almost dying while you have your health full and the boss decides do spam a 1HKO. Really trash design.
Where you up to? If you don't get your vigor over 30 before mid/late game OHK is gonna be common. Also the best summon is the mimic, it comes from a fight in the underground area and it creates copy of your character with unlimited FP (I think you can see where this is going)

Finished the game today and only found out post game cleanup you can duplicate the remembrance boss things traded for the 2 items at those walking city things. You don't need to do a 2nd run to unlock all boss items like older solo games. Don't panic if you used them you can still copy them.

Malenia the blade B**** was a nightmare, it's close to the boss that took me the longest in a From game possibly edging out sekiro final boss. I didn't want to respec to spell or bleed spam so some of that is probably on my stubbornness.

Went to do a cave for smithing stones and the boss dropped the moonveil. Had to grind a bit to raise INT enough so I could use it, and since I already had the Meteoric Ore Blade I thought it would be neat to power stance them and give them a try.

They were surprisingly good. I killed the tree sentinel after a few failed attempts with my usual sword/shield combo and also the big dick greatsword.

Lol father came in today. I've been trying for hours yesterday to beat the final boss.
So I am launching up the game "cmon father, i will show you cool boss".
Lol and I beat him first try today. wtf haha.

haha always when my father comes in, I beat a difficult boss in fromsoft game.
With Sekiro, I killed the bull when he drove by with a visit, on few days ago, I did the lion and crucible knight fight. And now this.
Now I said to him "whenever new from game comes out, you must come with a visit"

A friend of mine just asked why can you only use things mainly on your right hand ie ashes of war? I'm away from my pc so can't see exactly what he's on about.

I do wish it was a little more focussed.

After about 40 hours now, I feel like I’m playing an mmo. Incredible achievement but starting to drag.

This. Been meaning to ask the same. Might have to look at some guides I guess.
My daughter has been spending outrageous amounts of time with the game and she swears by Luthel the Headless. She has actually beaten bosses after her character is KO'ed. Super tanky.

Do I need to go through volcano manor assassination questline for platinum trophy?

Nightmaiden & Swordstress Puppets +10 and you can sit back and relax. Ive cleared everything besides Lyndell and what unlocked after it, and this summon is just op. Also used Latenna for some bosses.

You're not trying to solo it right? There's a billion summon signs in the arena, dodge his arrows while you pop those, then go in for the poke while he's distracted.

PSA - unless you're going with an offensive shield build, upgrading a shield is useless. It doesn't improve the defensive stats. Save your resources people.

I began by marking a ton of stuff and then noticed I only get 100 markers. Now I do what others have suggested. Anything left for later gets a marker. It's removed when a dungeon is completed. Merchants, teleporters, mausoleums, etc. get a permanent marker too.
