"It's really bad, and I understand why they don't want you to see this, because wowie zowie, it is terrible," said Nintendo Life's Felix Sanchez (via Kotaku). "Of course, you're never going to see the light of this—maybe it will just release in that state, but I can't imagine they will do that—It was like playing Ocarina of Time. It was like 20 frames per second, sometimes I was like, 'This has dropped [to] 15 frames per second.'"

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Runs So Badly On Switch 2 That Bandai Namco Isn't Allowing Recording At Gamescom

Oh look, the same thread again.

When someone says a Switch 2 game runs bad and doesn't immediately specify if we are talking handheld or docked, I immediately assume I'm being manipulated/clickbaited.

We must be specific when discussing switch 2 performance if we are talking handheld or docked. The other thread:

Clearly states handheld mode, so I accept that is must be legit news. this thread I have no idea from reading the OP, so I know I'm being somehow tricked into believing a half truth. Furthermore, since the original thread only stated handheld mode, that makes me assume that docked mode MAY BE fine(I really have no idea) and this thread is misleading. Looking at who the op is then makes me more suspicious. Then I google when the game released and realize it is not out for Switch 2 and the only release date is sometime in 2025 and I began to wonder why we came. This is of no consequence or relevance until the game launches no? The game could be fixed by launch and/or delayed. To be an ER IQ snob is crazy though since the recommended way to play on base PS5 was originally to play the PS4 version for better frame rate...these people are not technical dynamos...especially before a game even launches...

So it's fine for games to be released that very poor performance in handheld mode, but are somewhat playable docked?

I thought the entire purpose of the Switch 1/2 was you could play how you want?

PS4 handle this thing ok at best (when theres lot going on, the framerate funbles). Wouldn't expect Switch 2 to handles this game ok either.

They'll figure it out, just not today. I wonder if they're starting from the console version. If so, the AMD to Nvidia translation might not be going well. I can't think of anything in the PC version that would account for this kind of performance.

Elden Ring is one of those games where nearly everyone who wanted to play it, already did. And those that will play it in the future have several other options that cost less AND have better visuals + performance. These super late ports of 3rd party games never pan out well on Nintendo systems unless you make the release window like Cyberpunk did.

Bro those devs have a shit track record on any hardware
Quiet you! You're not going with the anti-Nintendo narrative. Just because this developer has yet to make a good performing game on any previous console, doesn't excuse Nintendo for their console.

It's all Nintendo's fault. Not the developer that seems to get a free pass for all their games performances.

Aye it's weird.. the switch 2 shits all over steam decks 1 power.

Yet omg this must be the fault of the devs from soft.
So, Switch 2 is not really that much more powerful in real life use cases. For example, less memory and lower power draw. But regardless, Fromsoft is *terrible* at optimising and the game doesn't even run very well 3+ years later on vastly more powerful hardware (PS5, Xbox Series X).
