This upcoming re-release of the 2017 open-world action RPG from Guerrilla Games has long been rumored to be taking advantage of some engine advancements and quality of life features introduced in Forbidden West. It may be one of the PS5 Pro launch titles to be showcased at the alleged September 24 State of Play.

Considering that it's been in the works for at least three years by the time it comes out – its very existence was first disclosed in the summer of 2022, as the project was listed in an internal XDEV document from 2021 which somehow made its way to forums, accurately anticipating various other then unannounced titles such as Rise of the Ronin, Death Stranding 2 or the Until Dawn remake – I believe it is safe to expect a meatier remastering effort than the latest Sony first-party game to carry the Remastered label, The Last Of Us Part II.

I really believe this remakes and remasters are a good way to build new teams internally. If they wasted the main studio's talent for this, it's a stupid idea.

I dislike Horizon and Hermen with every fibre of my being.

Edit: But to contribute something productive to this discussion, given that the first chapter of the game is played as a child, I'd like to see prettier faces on them.

So not a ground up remake but a remaster?
Looking at how long its been in the works, I'm thinking that it might have an extensive remastering effort behind it – probably something along the lines of Grand Theft Auto V when it went from PS3 to PS4.

Either way, we'll see how it turns out very soon.

What a waste of time and recourses

Bloodborne remaster died for this

Not that Zero Dawn is a bad game but it's so unnecessary

The previous game has easter egg reference to god of war and stuffs. Hope this has reference to concord

Platinumed both games and can barely be bothered in actually finding out what happens wit the story in the 3rd.

One of the most uncharismatic characters ever no harm to Aloy, the gameplay is fun and all and it looks incredible but I am just so uninvested in this universe now.

Why don't they remaster games we can't already play? Like the Killzone trilogy? Or Resistance? Or any of the other acclaimed games that are out there?
Too much effort to put in I guess, Remasters/remakes like these just give additional weightage to western devs and studios being Lazy and creatively bankrupt

They keep trying to make this game happen as a huge tentpole franchise.
Its just boring, it has the best concept ever and could be incredible but it has this really softly softly approach to things making it come across woolly and non committal.

They need to introduce some horror elements.

People were mad about tlou2 remastered and now it's one of the best-selling games of the year.

Nobody forces you to play it or deleting your PS4 copy from library.

Sony is really going downhill fast huh? I can already name a few gaffers whod buy this tho so Sony knows very well their brain dead audience will buy it. If its free, cool, but it wont be.
