A lot of people still don't seem to understand the offside rule, eh. If Croatia were trying to play Jelavic through, and it took a deflection off an Irish player, he'd be offside. Since they were playing it to the other side of the pitch, and the Irish player fucked up, and passed it to him, it's onside.

It was offside, the Irish defender in the second phase of play cocked up his kick which landed at the feet of the Croation player, offside.

You said yourself, the Irish player played the ball. Jelavic cannot be offside in that situation. Unlucky that the Ireland player shanked his clearance but it's a legal goal.
