Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots (PS5, Switch) – 9/8/8/8 [33/40]

Character creators and generic golfers should never be part of the Hot Shots Golf experience.

Hype. I've been actually playing some of the previous Everybody's/Hot Shots games cuz I've been excited for this. I've loved the series since I first played it on PSP. I was always glad they stopped trying to Americanize the franchise, because those characters that 3 and 4 had on PS2 were absolutely hideous.

Got my physical Switch copy ordered from VGP. Hope it doesn't take too long to arrive.

Looks like the Everybody's Golf I love. I didn't like the PS4 game, so it's nice to see this being more like the PS2/3 era of the series.

I'm guessing they'll put out legacy courses via DLC in the near future. I'm happy with that as long as they don't take the piss with pricing.

I liked the hub area with the golf cart and fishing. I wonder if anything like that is in this or if it's just menus. Looks like just menus from what i've seen.

The guy character you start off with is so cringe that I can't tell if I like it or hate it. ha!
He's basically constantly crashing out. Acting emotionally unstable.

I just preordered this - perfect timing with some long flights ahead on the 5th! Enjoying Switch 2 far more than I thought I would... Never really got into Switch 1.

I'm so hyped for this. The Mario Golf well has dried up for me. Watched the Kinda Funny (because it was the only recent coverage I could find). God damn are these anime girls insufferable. Hopefully I can mute them or replace them with mods.

I stopped watching both videos, with the incorrect accusations of AI in one, and the dad thinks the 2017 Everybody's Golf was the pinnacle of the series (it failed, which is why we haven't seen a PlayStation title since). GVG review though I think is informative and fair.

Dad also said Clap Hanz developed every previous entry which is incorrect and where I tuned out.

The PS4 game was good....mobile version a couple years back....not so much. Hopefully this is on par with Hot Shots Golf from the PS1

While good, Everybody's Golf (PS4) is one of the weaker entries in the series.
Definitely. The courses were frankly bad, especially by EG standards. The whole online avatar and interactivity with other elements took away from the core game, in my opinion. Out of Bounds, Open Tee, and World Invertational are vastly more enjoyable and true to the formula.

The open world nature really hurt the course design and the additions the open worlds afforded them felt largely pointless.

Couldn't agree more. I tried my best to like it, but probably didn't play for more than a few hours in the end. I've put dozens of hours into the previous games. That says something.

I've got 295 hours in it, but that's minor compared to previous entries. haha

Sod playing against you online for the new one then 🤣

Well, I can, just don't tell everyone here when I lose.

I just hope the daily tournaments are back from World Invitational. I'm not the best at the game, but I could consistently crack the top 100 in that one.

Already pre-ordered and preloaded on my switch a month ago. Just waiting for the unlock. I am so hyped for this. I know its strange but this is the one of the only golf games (outside of old school Arnold palmer on genesis and early mario golf) that I liked. I started with the psp titles and then vita. I eventually bought the ps1 classics and the ps2 games on disc to add to my collection.

The thing is I did not like the ps4 entry. Everybody's golf (took away "hot shots" and the charm), went with a mmo style instead of the traditional style i loved.
So I never got far into and other games came out. I tried it last year and everything was shut down. It looks like an empty shell of a game.

The last one I really loved was World Invitational. Also Easy come easy golf on switch (which is a ios port) is fun but its barebones as far as unlocks (no clubs, balls, etc). It does have a ton of goofy characters to unlock.

Hopefully this new game, retains the unlockable clubs, balls, and characters. I also hope there are a ton of unlockable characters and clothes, courses, etc.... Hoping for a real good arcade golf game again.

Looking at some of the video reviews, it does look like it has cool looking characters to unlock and more in line with classic hot shots!!! I love that, as it's reason to continue and unlock stuff. I like a campaign with actual unlocking and progress, not a loot shop with mmo or gaas offerings where you earn coins or pay real world money to unlock. If they did a character creator it would mean no goofy characters to choose from. For me part of the fun is each character had strengths and weaknesses. Also I like seeing bare legs and skirts, or goofy characters, even if they are anime inspired. Looks like they did a good job from what i see. Hopefully the courses are many and the golf itself is top notch arcade action.

I can't wait for this!

Hearing that some of performance is shaky on PS5, makes me a little worried about how the Switch version is gonna perform. Just need it to have good timing on the hits.

Otherwise, it looks great. It's that return of minna no golf I've been waiting for since the 6th entry on ps3/vita.

This guy complaining in the review about all the unlocking you gotta do, meh. That's one of the things I just enjoy doing in these games. I'm not trying to burn through it all fast. It gives me something to keep going back to for a long time.

I stopped watching after that remark. He claimed he loves the series and then went on to criticize one of the things that made the older games so great. More content to unlock means more replayability. That's a huge plus.

So far, the YouTube reviews are 0 for 3.
