It's funny because Smash 4 doesn't go on too long.. They use 2 stocks instead of 4.. I really never agreed with this 4 stock format..

Its not the same at all. you can easily live to 200% in Smash 4 while if you get to 90% in Melee you are pretty much dead.

I don't see the issue with that personally. I prefer the incentive for strong hits, plus it helps make characters who aren't focused on rushdown more viable in 4. I honestly like that losing a stock means a lot more in 4 as well.

i hate the "everyone gets to get on the ledge" mechanic. there is almost zero reason to edge guard against 90% of the characters, which removes so much

Not many seem to be brave enough to go out there. I personally like to chase off stage and gimp if possible.

You don't get invincibility from regrabbing the ledge, and you can force people off the ledge by going on it yourself. Ledge hogging is basically dead.

For the most part the physics stayed the same but I think some of the combos end up getting changed. Most tournaments stick to the dreamcast version of MVC2 due to being the closest to the arcade plus the custom colors and custom soundtracks.
