I lost my maternal granddad to cancer, probably over 10 years ago now. I can't imagine how much worse it would be for someone closer.

Yeah, with my grandparents it was different. I mean we just got a call and that was pretty much it. I cried of course. But it was much easier for me to deal with and accept. Even though I was only 11 when my grandfather died.
But with my mom, I actually saw it happen first hand. I was in the room holding her hand while it happened. And I was only 22 at the time. 11 years older but everything else was so much worse. Scary fucking shit. If I did get something positive out of it, it was that it really helped to grow and strengthen me as a person. But it was (and still is to a certain extent) the absolute worst emotional pain I've ever experienced in my entire life. And I think it always will be.
So sorry dude...Hugs from Western Canada...

This whole day has been a rush, but it ended with me feeling weird, like I just now figured out that I can make my own decisions. That said. I'd like to change major. As of now I am a CS major. My first choice was mechanical engineering but at my college it's impacted all day errday, but my second choice was a bio major. I like to help people so it might actually be good for me. I'd also like to stop being so...eh. But to do that I have to get out of the house more often.
