How do people play games on their phone? The lack of buttons, decent ergonomics, or physical media simply blows. I got to level 6 in Pokemon GO and then deleted the app. I dig 3DS a bit but even then I plan on only getting 2 more games for my N3DSXL.
I really think that some mobile gamers just want pure time wasters, while many console or handheld gamers like me want something that can replace movies or television shows. That's anecdotal of course, but it makes sense.

But yeah generally phone games are the descendants of Facebook games, Flash games, and those games that come for free with your computer
Tablets are great for point and clicks though and I hope we get more and more of them with tablet support

I can't. Mobile gaming is a total shitshow as far as I'm concerned. There are a bunch of decent puzzle games and maybe a super simple shoot'em up that I can tolerate, but that's it.
Depends on the game and the player.
Doesn't sound like mobile games are for you, but there are plenty of great little games out there that either aren't made worse by the control scheme or take full advantage of the control scheme.
There is nothing inherently better about a d-pad with 2 buttons. We're just used to it and the games we love take advantage of it.

Always great to know I'm not alone on GAF. I can play a few puzzle games on a tablet but that's as far as I go.
I mean, that's fair normally that people have different tastes, but games requiring precise input are better with more precision. Capacitive touch screens aren't that, I think that's also fair.

I wouldn't play Mario on a touchscreen that's for sure.
But Pacman 256 is a dope game, with a simple control scheme that is perfect for it's simple mechanics.
I could go on but I don't want to make it a list post. The point is that depending on your taste in games, you can find excellent experiences in all the arenas. Some of my favorite games throughout the last 4 years were released exclusively for phones.
That said, some games just DONT work on the phone screen.
And some games just DONT work with a controller.
But every game works on my computer cause it's a touchscreen and I can use mouse and keyboard and I can use controller

That reminds me, do any of you carry your 3DS around with you? I'm a little self-conscious about it, and especially in a case for protection, the New 3DS XL is just too damn big compared to an OG.

If I'm playing a game on the 3DS I'll just throw it in my laptop bag. I never put it in my pocket though it's too big.
My ps4 controller has an accelerometer (or whatever it's motion thing is)

I got that one for work, it has a little pocket that's like, the perfect size for a Vita. The bag itself is -okay-, not the best looking but being able to be a backpack AND messenger back is pretty nice.

Yeah that's kinda ugly. I mostly like canvas bags. Mines over a decade old tho so it's falling apart at the seams. Nice bags that work as both an everyday bag and a laptop bag are expensive though :/
