Man I stopped watching Kyoryuger months ago but I'm hyped for this one just because of the ridiculous helmets.

CAJUN NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO D:

Wait, the villains(?) are called RJ? Is that a not-so-thinly-veiled reference to JR? Are JR the villains of this series?!

(Also, you know, trains are awesome and stuff, get hype)

Hey, does anyone actually like clip shows or are they just a thing which anime makers make to piss off all humanity?

Pretty sure in this case they're just in there because Shaft ended up with too many episodes to fill in the season after cutting out Hanamonogatari to adapt separately.

That said, I actually kind of enjoyed them, since it had been a while since I'd seen most of the series being recapped.

Yamato 2199 - Episode 13-18

Another great set of episodes. It's amazing how this show keeps delivering. Episode 13 had some really intriguing "naval' combat. I really like how they keep the battles interesting, and the various encounters the Yamato has in every episode feel unique and refreshing. 14 was a classic Izubuchi episode. It felt right out of RahXephon. Great use of atmosphere, shadows effects, and music to create a classic haunted ship episode. 15 had really, really good character art, especially in the bridge scenes. The shading on the faces during the charge scene was soooooooooo good.

16 is probably the most "Star Trek" episode so far. Everything from the exploration of the planet to the political intrigue on the ship was classic Trek. Some pretty tense scenes, but also extremely interesting in terms of how it blew the lid open on a bunch of subplots which have been slowly building in the background for a long time now. It's hard to talk about 17-18 without spoilers, and I don't really want to go there, so I'll just say I love the way they handled the character development in the episodes as well as the advancement of the plot. While the general narrative direction of the show is fairly predictable, and intentionally so, it's cool to see that the actual events that occur are always somewhat surprising and not always what you think is going to happen. I loved the coloring used in the flashbacks too.

This set of episodes reinforces once and for all that the Garmilas side has the BEST cast ever. Yamadera <3 Otsuka <3 Wakamoto <3 Nakata <3 Holy shit. The manliest of men. Where has this show been all my life?! T_T

Argh ..This is like a Total shame this happenned. Oh well.he'll be back ...
The speed of the anime thread will decrease by 8% at least.

gundam build fighters 12

so... wait when did he charge his suit for that super beam?

He charged the first beam attack from the guy in space before that fighter switched to missiles and started wrecking them.

The thai champion.

The strike gundma is very intresting .. We know it has absorb & release but now it has a third system in place ?( twist maybe 4 ) but the release system called "discharge" seems to have at least 3 different ways to discharge the particules. the strike build gundam seems to have many secrets.

Monogatari SS 12

Monogatari is a show about hopeless loser Araragi and his underage vampire sidekick, and how Araragi constantly rejects pretty girls plagued by albino animal spirits because he already has a girlfriend that he never spends any time with ever.

Also Oshino Ougi is the worst girl in this show and can please burn her fucking creepy face in a fire far far far far far away from me. I'll take Shinobu big or small over this hideous nightmare creature any day of the week, thanks. That goddamn unnatural wax face. How do you make a cartoon character's face look so fake?

The entire point of her character is that she is creepy. So yeah she look fake , and that's just as planned !!

Yeah I'm not sure if I should have enjoyed this but I think I did.
The combination of the awesome suit (the scarves hnnngh), the sheer retardedness of the whole thing and Horie. As well as the designs and some decent sakuga, sold it for me.
But yeah if you aren't like me and acid vaginas, dicktits and weaponised phaluses do not entertain you, you might be turned off by this despite its good aspects.
I will say that some of the perversion did seem over the top an unnecessary like how you had random school girls inexplicably uncovering their breasts in their school swimsuits. Why I don't know.
I also lol'd pretty hard at the brothersister scene.

The thing is Ichika's supporting cast are all so god damned amazing due to the fact ichika is denser than a black hole, that I think the show wouldn't be as good if ichika had a back bone.
If ichika was more like a human being , maybe , just maybe, it would help everyone else and the viewer would see several layers of personalities in each girl ?
( at least the cast can't grow anymore ... )
just kidding , it actually can..like a snowball effect ..but it's going to be ugly if it does.
5 minute limit was the dumbest thing ever. The funny part is that it isn't even relevant after two of the baddies get killed off. And yet they bothered to address it in 45. At least they got that over with.

The other disappointment is the fact that Alice was given anger problems... that get handwaved away in her second episode. The removal of that character flaw pretty much brought her up to near-perfect status, to the point that her episodes afterwards are more to make other people feel better about themselves.

Sword... oh man, 45 might make you feel like she's just there. No thanks to Cure Ace.

Hell yeah
"5 minute limit was the dumbest thing ever"

200% true
Worse nerf ever in a magical show.

and yeah ..alive 2nd part of her personality was like forgotten ..would have been so cool to see a defensive cure that could go on offensive ( just like heartcatch gave us a long range cure that knew how to behave close range just as much )
Disapointing .

I have to tackle part of Aku no Hana and Yamato 2199 but I already feel pretty settled in my placement other than those.

There are maybe three movies this year tops that are AotY list contenders. Is there really anything of note other than Wolf Children, Blue Exorcist and Garden of Words? It was a dry year for anime movies.

The feature-length films I enjoyed this year are Asura, Blue Exorcist, Saint Young Men, and Wolf Children. For short films/specials there's Death Billiards, Garden of Words, Jinsei Best Ten, and Little Witch Academia. Then there's other films which I didn't like that much but which do have some things going for them such as Nerawareta Gakuen and One Piece Film Z. I don't think you can say it's been a dry year, at least comparatively. An average year doesn't really see more worthwhile films come out than have come out in 2013.

But enough about AnimeGAF drama. There's a week left in the year and I have to watch like 10 shows before the AOTY vote. I have a feeling there are some movies I've missed too.

Just watch Yamato. Seriously.

Star Driver might be announced later. I don't think the series list is complete!

Yeah, there's 6 more series yet to be announced. There's probably gonna be a BONES show somewhere there. I don't actually mind Star Driver since its probably gonna be overpowered like crazy ala Aquarion so I might enjoy using it.

I am dreading Gundam Age though but they might hold off on introducing it until the next game or something.

On Yamato I'm 11 episodes in, and I feel like they all deserve writeups I'm too lazy to make. Every episode from 3 onwards has been top-notch sci-fi. I like the texture they've been giving to the Gamillian side, I like the dynamics between everyone on the ship, I think each episode has been framed really well, and I think the visual design is top notch.

It's much stronger than I ever expected it'd be.

Hanamaru kindergarten episode 1
alright so im gonna spoiler this just incase...
Are they implying that anzu is tsuchi's child? Or am I reading too much into it?
its full of cuteness, every character seems to be likeable and I want to eat the 3 lil girls up, cant wait to continue.

Anzu is the child of Sakura (Tsuchi's friend in high school) and the high school art teacher.

CAAAAJUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!

I leave this thread for about 3 pages and come back to find out THAT happened! Ugh, at least its not a perm.

What happened back there?

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
No, especially if you enjoy real basketball in the slightest.

The author has no sense of the rules of the game or positions or anything of the sort. Just watch Prince of Tennis since that's what Kuroko is trying to ape, except that Prince of Tennis is actually enjoyable.

That's funny, I love basketball, but I also enjoy Kuroko. =p Ace of Diamond is okay too.

Funimation licensed the Live Action movie Space Battleship Yamato.

FUNimation Entertainment announced Tuesday that it has licensed the 2010 live-action Space Battleship Yamato film. The company noted that it will ship the film on home video in 2014.

SMAP band member Takuya Kimura (Howl's Moving Castle's Howl) headlines this film based on the anime classic, which was adapted as Star Blazers in English. The other cast members include Meisa Kuroki (Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan's Vexille, Crows Zero's Luca), Toshiro Yanagiba, and Tsutomu Yamazaki. Takashi Yamazaki helmed Returner, Always: Sunset on Third Street, and last year's Ballad, before directing Yamato. Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler wrote and sang the film's theme song, "Love Lives."

Slightly less cheap than last week's episode, but still pretty cheap. I suppose that was to expected. If I could be bothered I'd make some funny .gifs, but that would take effort.

AGE is basically considered marketing poison. It certainly will make it to SRW one day, but I don't think they'd throw its debut to a big game like this. And it likely will come after the hate for it has cooled down and most people just feel indifferent about it.

Is Kuroko's Basketball enjoyable if you aren't interested in :DTL?

I enjoy it, but I'm also a fan of basketball manga/anime in general so I might be a bit biased in that regard. I love seeing all the different adaptations writers take on the game itself from gritty and realistic like REAL to over the top superpowers like Kuroko. I will say there's quite a bit suspension of disbelief needed for Kuroko, but I still consider it a fun ride.

Yamato 2199 1-26

Man that was amazing. One of the best sci-fi series I ever watched.

It had good characters, a cool story with some good twists, character development for both heroes and villains, amazing scenery, cool alien architecture, awesome space battles with smart strategy and the CG is excellent. And too much visual porn my god.

A must watch for anyone. I would post some visuals but that would spoil the series. Its something you should see for yourself the first time. So a picture of this badass captain.

I want more of this.

Merry Xmas everyone! Been suffering from a vicious flu for over a week now, but I think I'm starting to feel much better. Hope everyone is well this holiday season! ^_^

Yamato 2199 - Episode 19-20

I couldn't resist watching just two more episodes, and holy shit, what episodes they were. DAT DORMEL! DAT JAM PROJECT! DAT BATTLE! This show is everything a scifi fan could ask for, and more. It's rare that a show can be so impressive from the start, and continue to impress all the way through. Only 6 more to go now. Goddamn.

---

Duckroll you must not forget !
Its bad but future generations must know that AGE existed

If AGE is remembered, there might be no future generations. :(

Merry Xmas to everyone! Including those with JoJo cats!

I hope enough people get around to Yamato before the AOTY thread hits. Not because I care about it winning, but because it seems like a good place to spread the gospel to more casual anime fans.

I'm sure someone has linked to this already, but Bahi has some sweet Space Dandy gifs on on his blog: http://bahijd.tumblr.com/

Off the top of my head, Rozen Maiden and Wolf Children are the only things I'd rank ahead of it in an AOTY list right now. It won't win, but hopefully it will do well enough to get some recognition.
