every anime PV will always look better than actual anime since the have enough budget to do 2 minute of animation but not for 12x25 of anime. consider it JC Staff. it probably inconsistent.

to be fair if the whole anime looked as good as the PV it would be astounding... the detail on the food was just great, thus I don't expect the whole thing to look like that, but at least decent.

In general I just need decent animation for me to be happy. I mean heck.... despite some of the super terrible scenes in Baby Steps where some things were super off for seconds at a time, I still think overall it was animated fine. I don't have very high standards for decent animation, and in general the animation won't effect my thoughts on a show much. Obviously something with a super high budget animation will likely be more enjoyable to watch then something with a low budget, but as long as it doesn't feel like a barely animated manga I am typically fine with it. For me the most important part is always the story. As long as they stay mostly true to the manga I have no doubt I will enjoy soma... if they decide that they need to focus on sex... and instead of enjoyable somewhat intense battles they make sure every battle has at least one female cook in it, and the cook is always dripping creams over her body parts as she cooks turning it into complete ecchi crap then I won't enjoy it.

no matter who is making it, I am just going to hold out hope since not only is soma one of my favorite series I am currently reading, but I also know how important soma is for shounen jump and how they need it to really succeed given the end of the era of naurto and bleach. I know it's dangerous having hope in an adaption of a series you like, but alas worst case I will just be super sad and watch Baby Steps season 2 to cheer myself up :P

Sword Art Online 2 Episode 18

Start of a new arc, and a pretty good episode. Agil makes a comeback, Kirito and Asuna buy the cottage house they used to live in in New Aincrad, and Asuna plans to challenge a mysterious player, Zekken, who is possibly a stronger player than Kirito (lol, no). We also see a little bit of how life is like for Asuna in real life. lol at her trying to catch an internet signal for her Amusphere while walking around. What's she gonna do? Link on while standing?

Off to watch it for yourself? Origami has that effect on people. Though she's my waifu, so you can't have her.

Only one I have heard of on that list is madoka magica and from the impressions on that, it seems like maybe I should look out for their upcoming shows. How are the others? Any good?

Zetsubou-sensei is my favorite by Shaft; the first two seasons are great (especially the second season), though the third season feels a bit tired. Still, very funny and creative stuff. The four Hidamari Sketch seasons are great if you like slice of life shows. Really cute and relaxing.

Madoka is another great one, though try to be unspoiled if you choose to start it. Ignore everything that people here say about Madoka; they think they're being all coy and clever, but they'll inadvertently ruin the surprises for you. In fact, if you do start it, I wouldn't mention it here until you're finished. All you need to know is that it's a magical girl show with interesting visuals.

The Monogatari series has its highs and lows. Try out a few episodes to see if it's for you. Other Shaft shows I've enjoyed include Pani Poni Dash, Arakawa, and ef. A lot of people here really like And Yet the Town Moves; personally I feel I need to give it a rewatch.

Avoid Nisekoi like the plague. Completely pointless and frustrating show. You may enjoy it if you liked dodging those lightning bolts in Final Fantasy X, or playing those minigames in the first Mario Party where you had to rotate the analog stick with your palm to win.

Parasyte 9

Why!? WHHHHY!? How stupid is that girl? "I saw a baseball hit him and he didn't feel a thing. In addition to this physical harm he seemed to shrug off, I saw him alter his appearance. Ignoring the possibility that this person might be dangerous, like my
Older brother has mentioned, I will confront him instead of informing my brother of this discovery. Yes, this is the logical thing to do."

Really wish that show had better production values.

I enjoyed it a lot despite some quality issues in the earlier episodes. I think it gets better in the later episodes though (season 2 was a big improvement in that department imo).

What surprised me the most in Symphogear is that Madoka's voice actor can pull off a hot blooded role. I didn't even realize Madoka and Hibiki were voiced by the same person until someone mentioned it on another forum.

Fucking LOL! That got me good. No, I hates dodging the lighting bolts. God, it was such a pain in the ass. I was so happy to have found that one crater that sort of had a pattern to dodging the strikes.

Anyway, back on topic. Thanks for the description? I'll add those on my
Hummingbird list, I'll get to those once I finish Monster, that's after parasyte and space dandy.

I need to finish that, but any time I think about it I fall into despair....
as it's stuck in licensing limbo

stupid media blasters and never releasing it... it would have been one of the few anime I would be willing to buy subtitled only at near retail price :(

I think that Media Blasters' license would have expired by now; it's possible that nobody wants to take on the massive translation effort that this show would require. It's a really bad situation; on one hand, I'm glad that Media Blasters isn't releasing it given the quality of their recent releases. On the other, nobody else seems to want to pick it up. Very frustrating.

Media Blasters just frustrates me in general. They also had the licence for Moyashimon, but nothing ever came of that either. That's two shows I love that they've picked up and then done nothing with!

believe it or not it was only picked up a few years ago in 2010. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was a 5 year license (or even a bit longer).

My hope is that it was licensed through 2014 or so, and sometime next year rightstuf announces that they got rights to it as if they are willing to take on yakitate japan, they should have no issue with taking on Zetsubou-sensei. If they did take it on, my hope would just be that they translate all the little things in both shows (as translators notes about the puns are pretty much needed in a show like yakitate japan)

as for Moyashimon, that was a fun show even if it did get weirder and weirder as it went on and the second season did little to resolve anything :P

Ah, I hadn't realized the licence was so recent. In that case it's possible it hasn't expired yet, or that it's only just expired recently.

RightStuf would be a good fit for this show, but personally I'd prefer another company to do it. RightStuf so far hasn't done any BDs; while I wouldn't mind the first season on DVD as I'm almost certain it wasn't done in HD, it would be a pity if later seasons were stuck on DVD. I'd love to see NISA take it on; they could give it both a BD release and a nice limited edition. They release plenty of quirky titles, so I'm sure it could work out.

Blame yourself for watching a harem show for the conclussion instead of the charachter antics.

Crunchyroll doesn't want to work for me tonight. All I want to do is start Shirobako.

Have some guest passes:

To be honest, I only watched it because it was Shaft, and I hadn't skipped any Shaft shows that were airing. It was more out of habit than anything. I just never expected it to be so annoying to watch. It seemed like the show went out of its way, several times, to almost make something important happen only to halt any development for the sake of a joke. Made me feel like Charlie Brown.

For me BD aren't a big deal, I have some but I rarely go out of my way and typically only get them when they are the same price or only like 10% more than the DVD in cost.

NisA would be fine as well though as they would at least have nice packaging, though they would be more expensive.

Parasyte 10

Yup, she indirectly caused the death of 17 people
. That girl, I forgot her name, deserves a standing ovation. At least it's good to see that shinichi still has his humanity intact, I was getting worried for my dude.

All the animation budget went into G Reco and
Cross Ange

I wish Cross Ange had production value
G-Reco is truly worthless show, its still worse than Try despite massive decline from S1 and in zannyness aspect, Ange beat it.

So what the fucking point... yet the focus is there.

Selector Spread WIXOSS
I was honestly expecting that they would go the route of announcing a third season titled something along the lines of Selector Cure WIXOSS, if only to go with the theme of Season 1 being the Infection of the WIXOSS curse, Season 2 being it spreading and beginning to go out of control and Season 3 being where they finally begin to reign everything back to normal.

That said, I really liked the ending of WIXOSS.
I was hoping for a happy ending and seeing that Tama is alive and well in those last 3 seconds made me happy beyond belief. Loved seeing all the girls back in their regular bodies and it felt all in all like a nice tie together. It felt a little rushed, but I still liked it
.

Honestly, if you would have told me when the year started that I would have watched a Card Game Anime and enjoyed it, I would have said you were crazy. I'm really glad I picked up this series. It was a fun ride week after week.

Why is SHAFT making this shit and not Soma?

THERE IS NO GOD.
No Soma head tilt for you

With the studio it has I doubt it and it's already ruined with MC's VA being Kirito's. Like fuck I heard him in the PV and all I could think of was Kirito cooking food.

Would this be considered AOTY?

Thank goodness I never even touch SAO even once so that I can enjoy the adaptation to the fullest.

Pretty sure there are many people who love doing otakucomedy or cute girls SoL series.

And Konfuku Graffiti is supposed to catch the Hidamari spirit - also OP directed by Umetsu.

Hidamari was secretly a show about girls sitting around eating things. It's all coming together now.

Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 12:

I think I have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating, for all of its faults, the first anime series handled the end of the first arc better then its manga counterpart. Granted part of that is because the anime was for some reason allowed to do things
(namely kill off the scouts)
that the manga could not. Still, we do get the fleshed out Queen Beryl and the Four Heavenly Kings and I guess I can appreciate that, at least in regards to Beryl. The Kings were just far more interesting characters in the first anime series and are what really held up Dark Kingdom as antagonists in that series. Here they are just kind of discarded quickly and pointlessly so we can get to the actual point of priority, Mamoru and Usagi's bad rendition of Romeo and Juliet. Yea, I think I am just going to go watch the last episodes from Sailor Moon season 1 again, so much more fulfilling then this.

Man I really need some more self control, I literally just got my Rightstuf order the other day and I just ordered both FMA:B bluray collections from them and spent pretty much the same amount as before lol.

Aw shiiiit

I just realized my bluray player isn't region free. No rightstuf for me i guess. I completely forgot blurays have different region codes (Japan belonging with NA), so it may actually be more economic to get the UK blurays (see: Cowboy Bebop).

I always forget to update my sub to the new OT so here I am again. Just watched Amagi Brilliant Park 12.

Totally predictable but I enjoyed it just as much as I would have had it been different. What made me even more happy was when I realised there was another episode, I thought 12 was the finale :o

Date a LIve II OVA

Huh, that's strange. I could have sworn I was promised a Kurumi OVA, not
a lame-as-fuck rogue Kurumi clone OVA. Seriously, I was curious the whole time why she was sucking so much, save the scene where she took a dump on Yoshino's hope and dreams which was the highlight. Then...nope! Kurumi clone! Pls understand.

DATE A LIVE : Encore 3

I still can't get enough of kurumi "gokigenyou"

I would have rated this oav Far higher if this wasn't for that ending. Somehow this doesn't feel right. and it's a shame since it was much entertaining up to "that" point .

Now i don't feel like posting kurumi pics anymore. in the end that was an average Oav that did some magnificent fanservice but failed near the end.

Disappointing to say the least but Ill wait and see what AHB says about it.

Yeah, have to prioritize which shows to watch. Sad really, a lot of good shows could be missed this way.

Thats true and latecomers are rather unfortunate that they missed a lot. I was lucky to become aware of anime just as it was hitting its stride in the Us and some of the legendary series were just beginning to make an impact.
Seeing initial reactions to shows like Evangelion, Sailor Moon, Cowboy Bebop it really got me hooked on anime permanently.

Shirobako 1

Donuts and dreams!

This show is so good. youre in for a treat!
Aoi is the most overworked cutie in the business.

Ok those words just set my expectations sky high.

selector infected/spread WIXOSS 12 END

Why the hell was Ulith the only girl to actually die? Like Mayu loses the final battle and Ulith gets brutally murdered by shadow monsters and that was just pure and simply the end of her in this story. No revival like the other girls.

It's just a little thing called JUSTICE. You may have heard of it.
WIXOSS End Spoilers
I'm just not so cool with how it was handled and how no one seemed to even acknowledge that it happened.

We need a side by side gallery with all the
LRIGs and their human forms. Some are obvious and/or we already knew, but others not so much.

Basically every time we saw a girl at the end it was either an LRIG or a Selector. The ones that were close seemed to be meeting up e.g. Hitoe and Greenhai, Chiyo and whatssherface.
[WIXOSS] Finale Spoilers
Okay, that's helpful. Thanks. Thought
Ulith
might be among them, but guess not.

Black tentacles literally snapped her neck like a twig. She's 100% dead.
