Fallout 4 Important Release Info ( PC Sys Requirements and more)

Want to know exactly when you can start playing Fallout 4? Digitally the game will become available at 12:01 am (local time) in all territories (In North America, the unlock time will be 12:01 am EST), except Asia (available at 12 am on Tuesday, November 11th) and Japan (available at 12 am on Thursday, December 17th).

So if I purchase through Steam, I won't be able to play it until December 17th?
I wonder if its just the Japanese language files that'll be release on the 17th.
I don't mind playing in English if I'm able to play on Nov 11th.

So... for future reference, if I eventually wanted to build a PC to be able to get all the mods for Fallout, what should I expect to spend around if I want a computer that can run this decently well but trying to keep it under a budget? I would want one that could do a decent amount of mods and definitely more than what my PS4 could handle. To be fair I wouldn't be doing that now so I'd hope prices might decrease but even giving me a price now would probably at least give me the worst case scenario. And I'd have to do from scratch. The only PC I have (I have had macs since that one) is so old I'm absolutely sure there's nothing I can re use in it save the hard drive).

Keep in mind I'd be building it specifically for Fallout. Anything extra would be bonus (only thing I can think of else that I would use it for is the old Microsoft Flight Simulator (before they tried to turn it into a F2P) which by now I would think a decent computer could do quite well (at the time even top end computers struggled with the high end settings).

My 4790k and 970 are more than ready. Unless they're not. Hopefully it doesn't run "surprisingly badly" with the recommended hardware because I don't want to wait too long for patches before diving in.

It used to be if you bought PC that is one Gen behind you could run minimum specs, if not recommended. Current gen ran high specs.

Now its barely run minimum or not at all.

Batman, MKX, and maybe Fallout at min. Fallout looks to best my system. Even Mad Max and Dying Light has been barely recommended.

Thanks to getting the 970 my OC'd i7 920 is still chugging along, shouldn't have any problems since I've got that little chip hitting 4.1gz.

Can't wait for more Fallout.

I love that processor. I have one still chugging away at 3.8Ghz. Thing is what, 6 years old now at this point?

You'd probably be looking at roughly $800.

If you build something that can run Fallout with a large number of mods well, then you will also want to use it for any other multiplatform game -- it will be that far ahead of any console.

The min specs are pretty low and the recommended seems high for how the game looks.

Probably just means it scales a lot between low and highest settings, which is good

Nah.. I like playing in front of my tv and in my living room, it has enough things plugged into it that i wouldn't want to add another and I honestly don't care about the better graphics (Hell, I don't even notice bad FPS in games that are notorious for it). The only reason I'm jealous of PC is mods for Fallout. I don't particularly like playing games in my room. There's a reason I'm normally a console player :). Just I love Fallout so much and am jealous of mods to give it more to play that that would have me consider making a PC.

Ok, and it would be nice to have a Flight Simulator machine again (that's honestly why I have an old PC cause it was built for Flight Simulator). That's one game that absolutely would not work on console.

800 dollars isn't bad though. I might consider it later on (when I want to do a replay of Fallout 4). And bonus is being able to play the previous Fallouts and Skyrim with mods :) (Tale of two Fallouts! <- I keep hearing of that one).

To upgrade my GPU or save some money and go for the Xbone version...

I'll probably do the latter, then pick up the PC goty edition down the line. Like how I did with Skyrim. Gives mod developers some time to come up with the good stuff, too, so it'll almost be like playing an entirely new game.

Xbone version is getting basic mod support, in any case, which is nice.

It will be a great boon for modding to finally have a 64 bit Bethesda game.

I'm sure some people will get up to 20 GB memory used by the process in no time :P

did i hear someone say everything was 4k - 8K textures ? :P

Personally cannot wait what modders like Millennia and NMC will be able to pull off once the GECK comes out .

I mean, technically, but you're out of your mind if you think here will be any sort of parity there.

I think at the very least it'll be interesting to see how Bethesda QAs and curates the mods that they allow to be implemented on consoles. I wonder if their creation tools will have a PS4/Xbox compatibility checklist that'll make sure mods adhere to a strictly defined set of parameters e.g. no copyrighted images, no total conversions, no hi-res texture packs, etc...

Lol, that would filter out 80% of all mods. I hope nothing like that happens.

You'll be able to use a VPN to unlock the game early.

I imagine it'll have to, at least in terms of what mods could be considered to be cross-platform. PC will obviously be left alone to create whatever they want, not to mention that it's a community that is used to the birthing pains that come with mods sometimes; performance crashes, quests breaking, etc.. I'm willing to bet though the console stakeholders are by and large unwilling to put up with their customers being upset that a mod isn't functioning as planned or creates a lesser experience. There will have to be robust curation in place.

I wouldn't worry too much guys, this is another multiplatform release which means that if your PC was able to handle games such as The Evil Within, Metal Gear Solid V, The Witcher 3 etc..., it will handle Fallout 4 just fine.

I for one can't wait to play this on my overclocked 750ti 2GB, it will run juuuuust fine... at 1080p

Very true. I suspect what it'll mean though, is that we get the more robust, polished mods, but don't get 30 different kinds of outfits to make your female character look sexier/nude. Or dude have giant dicks with console commands that can make them erect.

I just want my massive landmass expansions, realism and combat rebalance mods

Stuff like Falskaar and Wyrmstooth to make more areas to explore.

And stuff like Frostfall, RNAD, SkyRe / PerMA, to make survival harsher and combat more involving then just wailing on the enemy.

I also don't mind things like SMIM, Immersive Weapons / Armors as well.

Of course I'm talking about Skyrim...but I hope to see equivalent mods for Fallout 4.

Summon Gstaff to personally thank him. Thank you for including the english voices in EU region. thank you. Welcome home.

I always found Bethesda games fairly bug-free despite people saying otherwise. But then I did play a while after release.

Either way, I cannot believe my most anticipated game of the last 7 years is coming in a month. I am so, so excited.

So basically my 280x will be fine and my FX6300 as well (after I OC it to 4.5ghz). The 9590 isn't that much faster than the 6300, it does have more cores though.

That's exactly what I expect it will be on consoles. People expecting a lot from mods on consoles are going to be really disappointing.

I betting that the mods will be really limited, MS/Sony approved, hosted on Live/PSN, and will be able to be pulled at any time. I'm sure there would be many system exploits created if that weren't the case.
