I asked it becore but I'll ask it again, how close to the end of the game is the mission where you need to make the
teleported to get to the Institute - and are the optional parts where you can talk to the factions choosing who I ally with?

You're about half-way through the main story, give or take.

There's not even a place I can upgrade and repair my Power Armour in
The Institute
. How useless is this place!?

Its full of laser ammo and you can steal all the junk, its an awesome place

Max Ninja and Max Sandman. It's actually multiplicative instead of additive, so 3.5*1.5=5.3 instead of 3.5+0.5=4. How do you get to 4.4, tho?

Think, it's rifle perk adds to your dam. Or, it's the magazines I have been picking up. Now, I need to get Sandman perk.

Nah, I ditched that shit ASAP. The game is simple enough without being god.

It just depends on what you want out of the game. For me, I like and try to be the toughest the game will allow me to be, which usually means finding the best and most unique armor. I'm fine walking around godlike since that is my ultimate goal. I found a unique power armor piece in a tech building after solving a puzzle and I know there has to be a lot more for me to find. I imagine if you like to sneak around or just in general like a constant challenge power armor may not be for you.

Ran into the Old Guns quest. Could not figure out for the life of me what I was supposed to do at a certain point. Turns out the answer is pretty counterintuitive, but thanks to a Reddit thread I got past it. Kept reading the Reddit thread, and it turns out tons of people seem to have multiple issues completing that one quest. I can't figure out if I've just been really lucky that all my other quests have been totally problem-free so far, or if Old Guns is just particularly badly designed.

that quest was pretty straightforward. what did people have trouble with? the mission gives markers for every step.

Pretty sure I'm not the only one who haven't used power armor since the tutorial part in the beginning, right?
I think I have like 20 fusion cores in sitting my storage.

I avoided it for the first 20 or so hours before I realized how common fusion cores are and finally caved. Kind of wish I hadn't. Game is much more challenging without it, and the loot and armor systems are much more interesting that way too.

Really I don't know why Bethesda thought it was a good idea to give it to you up front. In fallout 2 you could also get power armor immediately and it broke that game too

I had no idea how to complete Taking Independence and had to look it up to see you need multiple generators to power the tower up.

Fuck Preston and his settlement stuff.

Weirdest thing happened to me... I was in downtown Boston just doing whatever when suddenly the frame rate tanks for no clear reason. I look up and it turns out that two BOS Vertibirds have crashed into one another. Cait and I were almost killed by all the flaming wreckage that fell down directly on top of us.

That sounds like a fucking amazing memorable moment

Oh yeah the Vertibirds just fucking rolling in and fucking shit up is really amazing.

it was less amazing when they started all getting shot out of the air by garbage-tier raiders. BoS you guys fucked up

Yeah i laughed so hard the first time the mysterious stranger showed up and Nick freaked out.

Talk to them and ask them to trade.

Go to your side of the inventory.

Give them the weapon or armor or cloth

Go to their side and equip it. I play on pc with a 360 controller and its Y to equip it.

Just put it in your junk. No need to scrap it manually it'll do it automatically if you need a piece.

i feel like we've answered this countless of times now haha

Cool thanks, I'm going to give everyone Vault uniforms too.

Those Hazmat suits you can get with 5000 radiation resistance make fights against Children of Atom hilarious. A whole group was blasting me with their stupid radiation guns and the damage only registered as <1 Rad/sec. I massacred them.

Yeah, I've been doing fine on very hard (won't bother with the ridiculous damage sponge survival ever), and it'll only get easier if I use power armor to rampage through enemies. Moreover, I'm a stealthy sniper anyway.

also, this stupid cow is on the top of my workshop in Sanctuary and it will not leave. i think it's stuck. now it constantly moos when i'm there. i might see what happens if i shoot it and get Carla to hate me, lol

I had this happen. This is how I fixed it.

I had some fun finally solving this. Stairs don't quite reach the upper part of the house, and I eventually figured out the brahmin can't seem to walk them anyway. But I climbed up and slowly beat the brahmin with a walking cane. Had to stay hidden and do low damage to avoid upsetting the animal or the settlers, but with most hits it would move a few inches away. Just keep doing that til it finally dropped to the next tier, then again off the house. Then it promptly bolted and ran out of Sanctuary, hah.

After 5 hours of using Grognak's Armor and Axe I realized I'm just playing a worse performing version of Skyrim, but damn if chopping a ghouls head clean off with one swing isn't satisfying.

oh man, i was thinking of doing that. but how do i climb up there? i'm on PS4 so no cheats for me.
I built a set of stairs just to help myself up. Then you can store or move the stairs later once you don't need them.

Also, be sure to save beforehand, just in case you do enrage the brahmin and end up gaining the wrath of any companions/settlers. I just crouched behind the brahmin, smacked it once, waited to be hidden again, and kept repeating.

I accidentally killed the synth vendor so now I can't buy anything lol.

Hopefully you bought the legendary plasma rifle first

Tex add me on steam, I shall need building help soon when I delve into it!

ah ok, cool. yea, i'll be quicksaving the shit outta that, what a stupid ass bug lol

Diamond City is pretty rad.

I'm actually enjoying every companion so far. Time to take Piper around for a while. I gave her a baseball bat to match that accent.

Now to find this detective everybody harps about.

Nothing like taking off limbs of a huge group of raiders, with body parts flying everywhere and blood raining.

I love this game using a stealth melee build, despite having all my perks and armor and weapons are geared towards being a self sufficient god of the wastes, scooping up and hoarding people.

Where can I get Ham (the bouncer of the Third Rail in Goodneighbor's) clothes? He looks pretty damn clean and I want the outfit for my partner. Yet you can't steal it from him and you can't kill him either.

Glad I could [hopefully] save someone from this.

There's also a bug where it spawns inside that house. I know someone mentioned it before, and it hit me sometime soon. I backed up one or two real quick autosaves just before I had fast-traveled to Sanctuary, then retried going there and it spawned normal. I have no idea if I'd ever have somehow gotten it out of the house, or if it would eventually just respawn elsewhere on its own.

Definitely something consistently weird about how it arrives in Sanctuary.

PS4 too, btw.

To be honest now I have a bunch of fusion cores I'm using power armor just so I can carry all the junk back to base without YOU ARE CARRYING TOO MUCH AND CAN'T RUN that message is the bane of my life

I'm wanting a Titanfall-esque mod for my power armor so I can call it in in situations like that, but I have more fusion cores than god at this point so I guess I can just walk around in it all the time.

Or... make my companion wear it since they don't use cores, then get in it instead when I need to? Hmmm.

I'd like a mod that makes moving in the power armor identical to normal movement. Get rid of the reticle bob and the slower movement speed.

This game sucks after work. I play for 4 hours and feel like I accomplished nothing. I am fuckin lost in the wasteland. Loving it.

I don't care too much about settlements in general but it was really satisfying to set up a web of shipping routes that connected every single one of them together so I could easily build in any of them. Finally managed to get every single settlement exclamation mark free. Still can't figure out how to get them to max happiness, but not being constantly hounded with notifications that they're under attack has been a treat.
