Fan Expo Toronto 2012 |OT| We Party Rock! Pt. 2

FanExpo is done, and I gotta admit it was pretty underwhelming. Spent less than $100 during the whole event. So many cancelations, and even for comic book stuff there weren't that many big names. Vendors were hacking off over priced stuff you can find instore as well as online.

I'm staring to think I may just go for one day next year. Kinda depressing.

Agreed, SpaceBridge. I did 4 days last year, and I thought that was overkill, so I did 3 this time. I was burnt out by yesterday. I went today to check anything else I've missed. Ended up getting a few more of those Killzone figures, since the Sony people were pretty much giving them to everyone. Got 7 months of PS+ in total now.

I didn't initially plan on going on Friday, but I was already there picking up my tickets for yesterday and today, so I figured I might as well go in. Pretty underwhelming, and it soured even further with that whole Stan Lee thing.

I think I'll stick to one or two days next year. I was thinking Thursday and Saturday if two, Saturday if one.

I haven't gone since 2010, and don't really regret my decision. The panels, and guests are just meh for me.

I only went for one day, mostly just wanted to look around, and basically went because my cousins and their friends wanted to play Halo 4 early really badly. Didn't buy anything as I know if I want something I can shop online for cheaper :p

I was honestly a bit disturbed that so many of the "celebs" cost money to get a photo with or autograph. Ive never been to one of these before so I don't know if thats the norm?

I went to an MMA/UFC fan expo last year in Toronto and didn't pay a dime to get a single photo or autograph, and it felt really personal because all the fighters were so damn grateful you were there supporting them.

This however, felt like pure fleecing of the fans. One lady told me Stan Lee got super pissed that she took his picture. SMH.

EDIT: I did however meet the entire crew of Electronic Playground and they were terrific! Very personable and didn't charge anything lol

I've heard throughout the day (even on the train on the way) various complaints from people regarding some of the celebrities. Either I'm only now really paying attention to it, or the celebrities this year are dicks.

The only celebs I'd CONSIDER paying to see would be William Shatner or Sir Ian Mckellan.

Seeing Christopher Lloyd from a distance was good enough.

And like I said, the EP people were fantastic. I even approached Shaun Hatton when he was alone at his booth and we shot the shit for a while, and did secret handshakes.

Stuff is more expensive at the con? Wow. Back in the old days it was a place you could find stuff cheaper.

I tried out Assassin's Creed III today. Single player, naval warfare level. I'm already sold on ACIII, but playing that level just makes me even more hyped for it.

Graphics fort he WiiU aren't anything mindblowing, but it at least almost or actually reaches PS3/X360 levels. If you checked out WB's area, they had Batman Arkham City Armored Edition running, and it actually looked pretty good.

Fucking Toronto Batman........I used to somewhat know the guy behind the mask........

And I was going to mention that Overdraught looked closed the last few times I walked by it but their website said nothing of the sort so I didn't post the heads up........I could have saved you all :(

Toronto Batman was on CP24 this morning with Robin and a Stormtrooper.

At the end, the host was telling Robin, "You seem to be the strong and silent type."

Batman erupts, "I take the lead here!" or something. Reminds me of the Goddamn Batman Twitter account.

They really need to stop giving him attention....

I've been to the expo this year and 2 years old - terrible experience being locked out because the building reached beyond its capacity. I'm wondering if I should attend a different day than Saturday. Are there better deals on Sunday and less people?

First off, by locked out, do you mean you weren't able to buy tickets anymore, or you went outside and weren't allowed back in?

Second, Sunday's less busy, but deals vary. Some places cut their prices small, some moderate, but nothing amazing.

2 years ago, we stepped out for lunch and had the intentions of coming back; we got back to the doors and the security guards weren't letting anyone back into because the building reached max. capacity and weren't letting anyone back in till the crowds inside reduced. We waited 2 hours outside, the crowd outside got bigger and decided to leave. Complained to the organization and they basically said that we shouldn’t have left and that food was available inside

I remember that, I think. The convention was on the second floor of the convention centre right? That space was so small for the crowd they were going to get. I'm assuming their usual area was booked for another event. I was able to go inside after half an hour, after stepping outside for lunch, guess I was lucky.

Yes, it was on the second floor and they sold more tickets than they should have

Maybe I'll stick to Saturdays; it seems like the 4 day passes are for the hardcore fans

I did 4 days last year, and was burnt out by the end of Saturday. If you wanna go for more than one day, I'd check out Thursday, it's a half-day, but it's not at all crowded and some stores offer "early bird" discounts. I picked up a lightsaber last year for $100, as opposed to the $125-175 price range. The sword guy was also selling for cheaper. And you get first dibs on game demos without worrying about crowds.
