I think what people are asking for is options. A lot of games wisely give you the choice of what parts of the HUD are on/off, which means everybody is happy.Well zero HUD would actually be bad. I'd like a basic HUD without all the obnoxious "ENEMY RIGHT HERE!!!!!" and "+5000000 XP ULTRA COMBO KILL" shit.
Yes, Far Cry 2 was better on 360 for sure.
That was a few years ago though, so maybe Ubi have stepped up their game.
Visually, Far Cry 3 looks sharp, if a bit oversaturated. Running natively at 720p on the Xbox 360, the game looks like it's pushing the limits of the hardware. Though we never had complaints about the frame rate, Far Cry 3 does suffer from visual tearing. It's not enough to detract from the experience, but it is noticeable.
Ok cheers. Ill pick this up for the 360 just to be safe.
EDIT: dead god at the tearing. 360 version it is.
Just pre-purchased the Steam Deluxe edition- any words on controller support? I have my brand new PC next to my TV and I'd love to throw in an HDMI cable and plug my controller in.
I don't mind playing it on my monitor either, but I'd prefer TV/controller. Steam page doesn't have the usual Controller Support tag.
Throughout, meanwhile, the Far Cry 3 engine (here running on a PC with a 360 controller attached) excels in its explosions, flames and the way palm fronds are buffeted and burnt by explosions. In fact, it's this that's central to Far Cry 3's most extravagant multiplayer mode. Governmental whispers about Firestorm's abuse of gasoline could cause a panic that'd leave your local petrol station running on fumes for months...
All of the keyboard and mouse controls are completely remappable. There's gamepad support here as well, but it doesn't activate on the fly -- you'll have to go into the menus to manually enable it. It's a shame you can't just have two control schemes active at once, because I would love to use my controller for the driving sequences and then hot-swap back to my keyboard and mouse running and gunning.
Read Goldmund post above. 360 is also afflicted with terrible tearing and frame rate issues.
me tooGetting this for PC. Farcry 1 was great, I didn't like farcry 2, but this looks really fun.
Do you guys think this will be discounted during the Steam Winter sale? I have it preordered, but if it's going to be cut 20% four weeks after it comes out, I think I'll wait.
Hard to say.
Far Cry 2 was like $20 at GameStop a few weeks after release but this is going to be a much bigger seller than that was. You might see 20% off somewhere else but I don't think it'll be that price on steam during the sale.
Still concerned that most of the content will be fast food offerings (i.e. competitive multiplayer), instead of co-op and single player.
Didn't know the game is released first week of December. Cannot wait.
Ah, thanks, that's reassuring. If you read the comments, the uploader said it could be the capture card and barely noticed it while playing.
Next Wednesday for people in Europe and Asia
Ugh, going with 360 for this if I get it, but I'm really worried about the tearing. That PS3 video makes me super queasy. =\
Halo 4 got harsh criticism?
The 360 version of FC2 had very sluggish aim acceleration, so I guess that carried over to PC.My most anticipated game of the year. Now I just have to decide whether to get it on the PC or Xbox. The controller felt really strange on Far Cry 2 for the PC.
Not sure how you guys play games with so much screen tearing, it's nauseating.
Next Wednesday for people in Europe and Asia
Drops beneath 60 fps sure feel like that."Catastrophic Framerate" sounds like a framerate so bad it could end the world.
Thank you PC for bestowing upon us your superior values so we can skip this framerate problems if we so desire
That screan tearing must be mostly due to capture gear surely? If not, that is the worse screen tearing I have ever seen in a game
Some pages earlier someone posted another video of a Xbox 360 vs PS3 ComparisonThat screan tearing must be mostly due to capture gear surely? If not, that is the worse screen tearing I have ever seen in a game
There's not as many tearing as in the 45min video. Probably a problem with the capture gear.PS3 vs. 360. Should be no splitting hairs here. Pretty much identical.

Main Campaign does not have co-op the other side Campaign does have split-screen co-op.No co-op (splitscreen) campaign? No buy.
Looks good but the HUD is cluttered up badly. All those indicators, icons and warnings completely ruin immersion for me.
