Fighting Games Weekly | Apr 27 - May 3 | NeoGAF actually plays games?!

KVO is this weekend btw,

Ultra: Tokido, Itazan, Nemo, KojiKOG, Anton (gouken), KOK, Gachikun, RF, Misse, Shiro, Pepeday, Kindevu, Kindo, Eita, Dogura, Kazunoko, Reiketsu, Taiga, Inco, Oitajin, Haitani, Tonpy, Kawaguchi, Akimo, Bonchan, Kyoku, Nishikin, Mizoteru, and fubarduck.
.

Looks like Sketch is playing Nemo. Rolento mirror. I hope Nemo fucks him up.

[QUOTE="God's Beard!";161882023]I just finished watching The Abyss and I decided that we need more underwater stages in fighting games.

We can't always get what we want. I want a character that listens to shoegaze with that being the character's music. Yeah it's random, but that shit would be boss.

Treat every matchup differently. He isn't like most characters, where he has a set game plan that he wants to implement. He has a diverse toolset, but each opponent requires different tools.

I am about to post this in the Smash OT. Best Mewtwo I have seen so far. I will upload some of my own play this week, just because I feel like folks desperately need it:

Thank you. Noticed some good things in that video as well.

Looking forward to seeing more Tokido this weekend at KOV. His Akuma has been really impressive lately. The cancels into ultra 2 are on point

You ever listen to Kinoko Teikoku? Eureka would be your jam of an album.

i agree, his ground game has improved so much when he realised that he can't do most of akuma's vortex bs in ultra anymore. take note ae2012 cammy players, this is how you should approach your character after getting 'fixed' instead of switching to another gimmick character.

Item toss isn't the main reason Faust is good. Buttons, crouch, drill cancel shenanigans are all bigger reasons. Even in 1.0 Faust is probably one of Elphelt's few disadvantaged matchups.

Yeah- Faust's normals in combination with the item toss are really what define the character (f.S xx item toss, 2HS xx item toss, drill cancel j.HS especially), but it irked me that the thing Elph chucked in a very similar manner was so good. If Faust threw pineberry for his item toss 100% of the time, he'd be way better (which is fucked up IMO). I'm surprised to hear you think (in 1.0) that Elph loses to Faust. She has strong normals which can contest his (at times), pineberry is a ridiculous neutral game tool, and Faust has it worse than most of the cast when it comes to dealing with shotgun corner pressure. Why do you feel Faust beats Elph?

Not sure how I feel about that new Tekken character; Gigas.
Kinda looks like an evangelion on steroids mixed with Hakan in a Big Daddy suit.

Noticed he mostly looks at the middle of the screen.

I usually just look at the other character and ignore my character until were close tbh

Yeah, he pretty much focuses on the space between characters, you often hear UltraDavid and James Chen talking about this space that top players like to keep during tournaments (Fuudo in particular).

Controls space better. Longer buttons. I don't mean a strong advantage though, but IMO Faust does have the edge in neutral. Classic case of neutral control vs. get in for higher rewards type of deal that leaves Faust a tad favoured in the end.

And yeah Faust with item toss switched to Pine toss would be ridiculous. Elph can't use Pine quite the same as he can use item toss could though because of his much longer f.5S and need to prime the grenade first for example (the need to prime can be baked into stuff so it's not a problem per se, but it does shape the way she plays)

Berserk is a generic 1920s - 1950s American fantasy book that's made better by anime art and made worse by anime bullshit.

It did encourage me to pick up reading old-style fantasy books (Conan, Kane, Elric, etc) because they have actual pacing and character development and I don't have to wait a decade to find out what awful things happen to the characters.

Berserk is basically the Skullgirls of sword and sorcery literature.

Haven't heard an opinion I disagree with so much since the last time I read r/Kappa lol

Also, Markman should have just "bought" back his stuff and then called in Police Assist when the Thief came to collect

He's on a plane, but it sounds like he's got people on the case

i...i can't even...

I really didn't think they would do a new Dragon Ball show especially with how much money the movies were making. Can't wait for July.

The way my year is going they'll announce a HxH fighting game...by CC2 playing identical to JJBA ASB.

I'd still buy it. I'm buying the Jump game for PS4 just to make a Gon/Kenshin/Kuroko team.

My dream HxH fighting game would play like Tobal 2 meets Bushido Blade.

What was stolen from Markman, exactly? Not a complete T7 board, right?
To suggest that Berserk doesn't have pacing (wut) and/or character development (when there's a whole major arc plus some minor ones dedicated to this very purpose)...
