The thing is, Kojima isn't even Konami's breadwinner now. It's their mobile division and pachinko/gambling machines that are making money. Konami can afford to completely drop videogames (that aren't mobile) and still do completely fine.

It's ridiculous how these companies can continue to make bad decisions after bad decisions and still continue to stay afloat because of mobile gaming.

Wow, that really sucks.

When I'm facing a bad player who constantly mashes buttons in marvel like an idiot on wakeup. I've learned to deal with it and just level up and let them shoot themselves in the foot.

I just find it weird Kojima is actually leaving after MGSV, it just doesn't make sense for Konami to let their bread winner leave like that. Either that or Konami is finally gonna go bankrupt in a couple years from no good games lol

That's why I thought it was weird. Kojima is Konami for crying out loud, Metal Gear is their moneymaker and to have the man that created it just leave it mind boggling. Although, I shouldn't be surprised since Capcom let the head of platinum studios and megaman creator just get frustrated with their mentality and leave.

MGS is not their moneymaker lol. Matter of fact, IIRC its not even games that makes them the most of their money, its pachinko or some shit

What a birthday weekend </3

If your lever breaks, you don't go out and buy a new stick. You might lose the match today, but tomorrow you'll have a fancy LS-32 with a custom transparent balltop in your favorite color. And that means new beginnings.

Keep your head up, MarkMan.

it's reasonable why that is. Mobile gaming is cheap to produce and there is a huge market for it, home gaming can be very expensive to produce especially for a series like Metal Gear.

Why not an LS-33?

That's love.

Consistency or just one big win, or should I say one big finish. If someone were to finish 2nd or 3rd at EVO for example, they're pretty much in regardless of what else happens. Their just aren't enough points to go around to make the 32nd place finisher have more than 256 points when last year Chris G finished 32nd with 173 and their were a lot more ranking events last year. That's also the main reason why I think winning one ranking event is good enough this year when all is said and done. So even if America can't win a premier event, getting into GF and finishing 2nd might be good enough to get in Capcom Cup.

BTW, that black SFV shirt looks pretty bad ass. I think I might get one after all.

Winning one event is tough and it will be hard to consistently get top 3. Getting to Grand Finals would be a mission. Everyone is going to the prem. events. Stunfest for example is featuring Daigo, Momochi, Mago, Tokido, Kazunoko, Santarou, Ebi, Poongko, Infiltration, RF, Dark Jiewa, Xian and there is a possibility that Gamerbee and Eita will also go as they have recently said so. CEO will be the same.

I think the way this is shaping up only the best players will get in. Yeah it won't be as diverse as some may want it to be, but I think a more competitive tournament will make the event better as a whole. Not only will Capcom Cup itself be better because of this, but the whole pro tour will benefit.

I hope Wao and Nemo make it in.

A few months later into the future, people are going to look at Hypespotting and think of it as a missed opportunity.

No offense to Mago

serious talk if pacquiao and mayweather can finally fight then freaking ippo and miyata better fight at some point.

Ippo and Miyata can wait, Sendo is doing some grow ass man work. I'm still waiting for the fight his mother actually goes to see. That will be truly insane.

So Digital Enterntainment is the breadwinner and then gaming systems? I don't see how pachinko is making them a profit here or I'm reading it wrong. Konami should just hand off the IP (or sell it) to someone who would do it justice. Sadly that won't be the case cause they've lost it for the past couple of years.

Characters I want to see represented at Capcom Cup, in no particular order:
 1. Makoto
 2. Ibuki
 3. Viper
 4. Juri
 5. Nemo's Trollento
 6. Cody
 7. Hugo (lol)

I would honestly be happy if I were to see either Hakan or Hugo in Capcom Cup. Has Latif completely dropped SF? Dude would have a pretty good chance of getting in.

Nemo can easily get in if he gets time off from work. As for your other characters, however unlikely it is, you never know. Last year Pepeday and Nishikin won TGS and Taito tournaments. Tonpy won the Cannes qualifier. It's hard to predict who will come out of the Japanese prem. events.

Yeah, kind of a bad way to end the weekend. =/

Cybit wanted to sing you and Slash happy birthday on the PA but we couldn't interrupt Tekken Tag 2 finals since we were behind schedule a bit. =(

This is a true statement. I had the mic ready and everything. If I came up awkwardly to the MCZ booth and just idly stared at you and wandered off, it was me debating whether you were in the middle of MKX with folks or not before we started singing. :D

Digital entertainment (console games) are massively declining, whereas gaming (gambling and stuff) is rising.

Digital Entertainment is on a decline but it still made the most money for them in 2014. The negative signs means they lost money on it right? Its at -1.9 and has down from what it was the previous year unless I'm having trouble reading the chart.

Edit:

I started comparing the actual gaining of money/differences in years and holy hell, that pachinko is actually making them a nice profit. The profit for Digital Entertainment has declined dramatically, I don't know if its a loss on their end if they put up that much money for each of the prospective years but those declines are not pretty to look at.

The thing about digital entertainment is that it's very variable. Basically dependent on Metal Gear releases.
Meanwhile, their gaming sector is seeing consistent increases, which they feel are worth pursuing.
Juri is the most criminally underused character in SF4.
She is but with Momochi being there I think we'll see her at capcom cup.

I'd love to rep Juri at tourneys but I'm ass so I will never go. :p

Well Konami will have a good 2015 for Digital Entertainment mostly because MGSV is going to d gangbusters. After that they are in a pickle for sure.

Guess they can make a fighter... you know those always make a ton of money.

WTH? They haven't fought against each other already? It's insane how drawn out Shonen tend to be (worst offender being Berserk). XD Anyway, I lost interest in Hajime no Ippo when the protagonist fought against the jungle dude (Woli I think?) or something (and this frigging shonen started in 1990, end it already). :p

The fun thing about watching FG stream is that you can quickly see dream or hyped matches.

That and Abudget Cup, especially Abudget Cup. Top 16 was full of a bunch of 2000pp level players. The only quality players were Humanbomb and Dark Jiewa I think. It would have been easy points for someone like Shiro if he had gone. I mention Shiro because he looks like he's making a effort to qualify.

they can twiddle their thumbs and make pachislots until Disney buys them.

Berserk isn't drawn out like a Shounen, it's paced just right and the story is always moving.

The problem is the chapter release schedule. Obviously if you release one chapter a year you aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

If Berserk had the release schedule of Naruto then it would've ended 5+ years ago.

This one should get good...

In semi-particular order.

Guilty Gear XX | Johnny | Mist Stance Cancel
http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Johnny_(GGACR)#Mist_Cancel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYDfcDhO3OU

Samurai Shodown | Basara | Kage Damashi (Shadow Fakes)
http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Samurai_Shodown_V_SP/Basara#Specials
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSWxiT9A1OM

Tekken | Ling Xiaoyu | Rain Dance Stance (Back Turn Stance)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm_Rf4ZMZVs

King of Fighters Maximum Impact (2006) | Fio Germi | K.A.M.I.K.A.Z.E.
Hit-Throw where she runs past you leaving behind grenades. Amazing priority, combos from everything. Super-cancel to Tonfa activation to make safe on block.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=205OH5U7dco

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo | Cammy | Hooligan Combination
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuIIHSY6zzI

These are the 5 fighting games I've for some reason spent the most time with.

Johnny's Mist Stance, Basara's Shadow Fakes, and Xiaoyu's Stances are really awesome. These are not tools that the devs gave to the players to solve a problem, like a hammer to a nail. More like a painter's brush, these are implements given to the player to express themselves. And all the while, through these implements, the player comes to know the character they are playing. Johnny's precision, Basara's haunted reanimation, Xiaoyu's playfulness.

If Berserk had the release schedule of Naruto Miura would have died of starvation. It takes the dude 15-18 hours per page to make that stuff.

Feels more dragged out then Hunter X Hunter, which has a worse release.

Why is the mangaka on hiatus again? An HxH fighter would be pretty hype if it ever came to fruition. Hell, an all out manga fighter with one piece, HxH, Berserk, etc. would be dope.

If that's the case, I think Miura just lost motivation due to the amount of work done throughout the years. Togashi might be the same although I don't see the art being as great and symbolic as Berserk's.

Because Dragon Quest.
In reality, he has children, had some injuries. His wife's busier right now cause of all the Sailor Moon stuff.
Hunter X Hunter and One Piece would never be in a crossover with Berserk.
