Fighting Games Weekly | Apr 27 - May 3 | NeoGAF actually plays games?!

I just saw the gooteks and miek russ show w/ MK X on youtube, im on the shows website trying to find the full ep, do they not have it up yet?

Gamespot Versus is streaming 3S!
www.twitch.tv/game_versus

EDIT: Yang, Makoto, Ken, Chun, Alex, Elena, Dudley, Yun on stream so far. Something for everyone. And bees. Bees in my head.

EDIT2: An Oro player, too. Showed the Chun player that you should study your good matchups too or you'll get wrecked. Poor Chun player looked so lost.

EDIT3: Oro player is Vanao. Figures.

Knock 'em down, do shit into knock down, repeat step 2 infinitely.

Did they change that?

I imagine most online Ram's will drop her because of the higher execution and the fact that their primary strategy, upback+throw swords, doesn't work anymore. She's not that much worse, but she's a lot harder to play from what I've heard. The most welcome change is the nerf to the best super in the game, tbh.

They should hire some of the talent from the modding community.

For as long as I have been aware of mods the community has always had some very talented people one upping the developers. They really should try to pull some of that talent, especially when it puts there own internal teams efforts to shame.

If the latest build of Tekken 7 is going to be at Texas Showdown does that mean it's still going to make it to the planned tournaments?

For those that have gone to evo how much did y'all pay overall. I'm going to go next year and I want to know roughly how much to save up and If I can also go on a cruise as well.

It's so variable depending on a lot of factors. Where you're flying from, what hotel you stay at, how many people you split the room with, how many tournaments you plan on entering, are you planning on doing any gambling, seeing any shows, eating at any of the pricier restaurants.

Lobo is a character people like? I don't get the appeal.

The original Giffen/Grant/Bisley Lobo run was something special, the Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special is one of my favorite comics. But that was a long time ago, no interest in what DC has done with him after.

Oh god the Christmas Special brings back good memories. I think you had to be of a certain age in the 90s to get the Lobo love.

It's too bad Guy Ritchie's Lobo movie fell through.

Their production work flow sounds too involved to just generate art assets and plug them into the game. Well for it to be a good use of anyone's time anyway.

maybe now you'll be able to fly a helicopter in BF4!

I was drunk. You shoulda known when I said "Hey guys. Guys! Guys check this out!"
*crashes into pole.
To be fair, that pole snuck up on me.
I have gotten better, honest! Not really feeling BF Hardline though. I keep playing in hopes it clicks for me.

Real Talk.

I've been kinda scared about the future of fighting games especially with the console market in Japan moving over to mobile. Fighting games aren't really a category that translates well on mobile and with a lot of high priority fighting games coming from Japan, I've just been wondering will eventually those developers push to develop for mobile rather than console. With rumors of Konami moving from the continually costly console's to the higher audience in mobile, I've just been wondering if other Japanese dev's will follow suit.

Just a paranoid thought....

FGs are safe. There's always SG and MK. Based USA.

That's a valid point. Although, even with the immense growth of mobile gaming, we are still seeing new fighting games in Japan. I think if these developers were hopping on the mobile bandwagon, they would have done it already. But, on the other hand, Japan businesses are notorious for slow adaptation. Who knows?

You shouldn't be worried about fighting games dying out because of a shift away from consoles.

You should be worried about fighting games dying out because of the ongoing shift away from arcades.

I wouldn't worry about fighting games when Japan still has arcades.

What's coming to an end are the big budget, high risk single player games as companies want to take less risk to earn more revenue.

Xrd didn't do enough to widen the playerbase in Japan, plus a bunch of other factors killed console sales. It still did good enough in arcades though, remember Blazblue and Persona were huge so it's hard to reach those numbers.

I'm unsure how it did in NA but from rumblings I heard it didn't do that bad over here.
