People actually think GGXrd will out draw Marvel at EVO?

How about we take some bets on that? Haven't had one of those in a while.

I got Marvel on Sunday and out drawing GGXrd.

Kiiiiind of not feeling MKX.

The animations look way better but at the same time they still have a lot of that MK9 jankiness left.

And of course there's the block button, which really doesn't suit a 2D game. But I guess that's what makes MK MK.

Tekken 7 is a great way to start Sunday. It'll be new, so it may not have a huge representation, but people will be interested and it'll start things off well.

Otherwise I'd aim to get the joke games out of the way on Friday... with UMvC3 slipping into Saturday for the sake of scheduling.

Friday
Killer Instinct
MKX
SSB4
Melee

Saturday
P4AU
UMvC3

Sunday
Tekken 7
Xrd
USF4

Are you high?

I'm definitely willing to bet Marvel is no lower than 4th in terms of entrants. Probably third but not sure how many will show up for Sm4sh.

I noticed in today's stream with Cassie especially: her normal stance, walk, and jumping still have that classic MK jank to it. D'Vorah has that same strange looking animations when jumping forward. It's not completely gone but it is a step up from MK 9, glad that they are at least trying to improve.

Well, the MK X stream was uneventful today. Didn't even show a new character or play as Goro.

I thought it was cool. Plus they're going to space that information out as much as they can with the release coming up very soon.

Marvel numbers will be lower this year, but it will still outdraw many of the newer games coming out. Plus the game is too exciting not to have on Sunday.

Melee, Persona, and KI will finish on Saturday.

Alternative: Catch the golden snitch.

A thing you can trigger on stage to automatically end the match would be interesting. Leading on life? Try to get the snitch to get the win. Of course you expose yourself when you do that...

It's kinda like BaraBariBall, to win you have to score points so you have to balance moving the ball with your offense.

That's what I'm saying. Besides, we all know Marvel will be second to last, it brings in the view count that these other games (except for SF) haven't beaten. Hell, I think it even beat SFIV last year but that might have been due to how late it was already for the east coast.

Seeing Yata and Skullgirls kind of makes me wish we got a completely new 3D fighter into the mix. Even those are indie efforts... Blazblue was the last huge fighter franchise we've gotten that's new and that was in the beginning of last generation.

But for 3D? We don't have anything closely resembling a traditional 3D fighting game that wasn't an old franchise or based on something else.

Would be kind of nice to have something new for a change.

I think Marvel will be 4th in terms of entrants behind the Smashes and USF4.

Numbers have significance but so does viewer count. Wizard knows Melee, Marvel and SF will bring in the viewers so those three should be last on Sunday, and in that same order. Nintendo can moneyhat all they want, Sm4sh is a great game but it certainly doesn't deserve the Sunday spotlight in my opinion. Of course, others will disagree and that's fine.

This. It'll be SFIV, then Melee, then Smash 4, then Marvel. Then a few hundred people less for game #5.
Yeah it's going to be something like this for sure. And pretty sure the top 4 game at EVO usually makes it on Sunday at EVO.

On the topic of Quarters/Semis being streamed on the main stage... I don't care about Quarters but Semis (like top 16 action at the bare minimum) should be streamed. Don't really care about it being main stage, it just needs to be shown because a lot of good stuff goes down during that phase. It can be on a secondary stream too.

KI/P4A is getting < 300 entrants
Tekken 7/Xrd will be 300-400
MKX will be 400-500
Marvel/Sm4sh maybe 600-700
USF4/Melee I bet can get to 1300-1600

My personal hope is melee on Sunday or maybe even Saturday but not 4 and melee the same day. I'd be smashed out an hour in to that undoubted 3 hours + for each game. If they do both in one day, I hope they put something between them like GG or MKX or something.

I think you could stick Melee, Smash 4, USF4, or maybe even MKX in Marvel's "traditional" Evo timeslot and get as many viewers. People like to tout Marvel's Evo viewer numbers but there is no real way to compare its performance to other games since only Marvel has had that slot the last 4 years.

Also, regarding viewer count, it would be interesting to know exactly how much money Evo actually makes from stream viewership, and how it compares to how much publishers are willing to pay to get their game into Sunday.

It's WAYY too early, but I see it as...

Fri
P4U
KI

Sat
T7
Melee

Sun

GGxrd
MKX
Sm4sh
MAHVEL
Ultra

Melee will no doubt have the higher number of entrants, but with Nintendo's blessing allowing Smash Bros to be broadcast, then the newer game will certainly be there on the last day. I don't believe Persona and KI will get that high of a number in terms of entrants so they get shot to Friday, however I'm always willing to be surprised. And T7's Top 8 will be some kind of special exhibition because it's on arcade board, so the presentation being on Saturday Night doesn't sound too ridiculous. I think MAHVEL's got too much love from the base community that would go to an EVO, and MAHVEL being before Ultra just goes hand in hand.

Does EVO actually play ads while the tournament is going on? I know they have sponsors so it might be like the superbowl, sponsors have to pay more than usual to get a spot for their ad/logo. The actual moneyhatting seems to tarnish what the tournament is all about. If we are speaking hypothetically here, if Sony cashed out the most money out of all the sponsors to have All Stars streamed on Sunday, how do you think people would react? Now obviously the game can't be used as a scale since the popularity for it is nonexistent nowadays but this is what my thought process is when publishers just throw money to get their game into top 8 even though we know the likelihood of the game remaining more popular than Capcom FG's for the remaining years is low (Smash games are an exception I can think of at the moment). How I see Sunday happening, if there are 4-5 games for top 8 are in this order:

USF4
UMVC3
Melee
MKX
GG Xrd

The MKX spot and GG Xrd spot are up for debate since T7 and another game (I have no clue) might have it streamed that day but who knows what Wizard has in store for us.

I kinda want to see this if only to see Evo try to run a 2000+ tournament and a 1000+ tournament and finish on the same day. They'll kill themselves.

I just hope Persona ends up being treated well. I don't want any SFxT type deals where everything is a mess and we're stuffed away somewehre. I know we're not the biggest game but dammit we're there and 10+ JP god tier players are already confirmed to be coming.

Persona is a hell of a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to it at Evo. I'm guessing it won't be 2.0 though....? Or what's going on with that?

nobody knows orz. Depends on if Atlus can get the patch out in time. The only thing I do know is Japan is actually not messing around. They've been producing a ton more videos and discussing things on social media more now that the game has this big tournament over here.

Yeah, it is huge out there. Sadly, 2.0's presence and all the match videos and whatnot have sent me to play Xrd until that hits consoles. I don't like feeling like I'm playing the wrong version of something D:

Out of curiosity, how far is that from the old location?

Azusa is about a half a hour to a hour away from Walnut depending on traffic.

The location is not great because its up on the northern boundaries of what people consider to be L.A.

Also, Azusa has major gang activity, lol.

That's selling USF4 short. Ultra had 1976 players last year.

In any case, the 2nd to last game should be thankful their game gets that time slot. It's the best time slot. Last game will get screwed over by time and also because they run announcements right before the last game.

That seems like a pretty bad idea then lol

I hope the gang and crime thing isn't too bad orz

The arcade here used to be in a mall that gangs basically took over for awhile and it was pretty nervous being around sometimes.
