I expected nothing and I was still disappointed. Oh well, Persona 5 was there.
Square has it's own thing for TGS. It's september 22nd and 23rd if I'm not mistaken. There is still hope.

I am sudden;y reminded of a scene in Dirge of Cerberus where Cloud blows up a mako reactor just by throwing a Blade Beam at it.
I mean come the fuck on.
That urge for a FF7 remake just diminishes doesn't it?
TGS hasn't even happened yet bro.

each member of the main cast took out a reactor right?
Kinda brings down the weight of the their first attempts. hahaha
I like How VII lacks an actual for the sudden superhuman abilities that regular people perform.
Final Fantasy IX Ending Spoilers
My favorite game in the series by a small margin. Loved every bit of it, exceptwhat the eff was that boss at the end? I hate it when story elements (like the crystal and the boss) are introduced right at the the last seconds of the game. I completely lost track of what was going on when zidane started walking through space and shit.
FFIV set the precedent on that, I think.
HELLO GUYS I'M ZEROMUS I'LL BE YOUR FINAL BOSS FOR THIS FLIGHT
Zemus was revealed to be the main villain when you reach the Lunar Palace, so he had at least two dungeons before the end of the game to establish his role (three if you count Bahamut's Lair). Zeromus was just a transformation of Zemus. If you count that as coming out of nowhere, then Bizarro/Safer Sephiroth or Neo-Exdeath also count as coming out of nowhere.
Necron really had no set-up or explanation whatsoever. Even when you are fighting him you have no idea who he is.

What about... uh, FFIII then!
Also, hello! First post in the FF thread!
Hey! Welcome aboard! Is your account new, too? Didn't know you were on GAF.
I thought Necron was pretty well signposted as far as the themes of the game. Story-wise, yeah, he came out of nowhere, but considering the themes of life and death, it made a lot of sense to fight the personification of nothingness.

You were supposed to fight Hades in Necron's place so that alone gives some sort of hint.
I still like the Necrophobe one better. Gilgamesh explodes the two of them and it sends them careening into other games.
Makes me wish we could have gotten a pixelated remake of Final Fantasy 3.
But the sprites for characters in Dimension all look like giant elbow'd chocobos. It's a terrible visual style, in spite of the game's great concept art.
They should make a Final Fantasy game with the Amano art style. The PS4 can handle that right.
Amano's art is amazing, but I'm not sure how well it translates to motion.
Starting to come around on the XIII soundtrack. Shame about the game though.
I'm glad to see you're starting to like it - Hamauzu's music deserved so much more than FFXIII. What reservations did you have about the soundtrack initially?
The use of vocals in the songs. It was much more than normal.
