Final Fantasy III announced for Steam - $15.99/€12.99/£10.99

Not really interested in III, but if they port IV DS and FFT iOS, I would instantly purchase.

Might pick this one up in a sale and play it for a couple hours someday.

it's Square Enix selling a Final Fantasy remake

the answer to that is "at least 20% more than literally any other company would ask for the same game"

I don't mind if it ends up setting a precedent for Final Fantasy games on PC. 7 and 8 had been released on PC previously so it wasn't a surprise to see them eventually comes to steam, but now we finally get a Final Fantasy game remake that was not only not on PC, but also not on consoles either.

Like, just imagine how great XV would look on PC <3

Played it on DS. Would be more enjoyable if the bosses didn't get two moves in one turn. Also, I hope they put in a save between the final two dungeons. Never made it that far myself (got stuck at Garuda), but that's the biggest complaint from what I've heard.

I just want the rest of the PlayStation games.

Hmm, I think I might actually buy this. Now give me FF IV on Steam too. The iOS port of the ds version looked so nice, but the lack of buttons kept me away. FF IV DS is one of the most challenging and satisfying ff games I've played and hope it gets an eventual steam release.

Maybe that's where I got bogged down and stopped on DS. The game was okay, but somewhere late in the game I got stuck at a giant tower where there were constant random battles, no obvious treasure or intermediate save points, and it just felt like I would be grinding there forever (if it is even possible) until I would be high enough level to get to some boss. It was not a pleasant experience.

Bravely Default Flying Fairy basically felt like FF3 to me, except with most or all of the annoying elements made better, streamlined, optional, etc. For example, opting out of constant random encounters as you try to walk across a room. =P

FF6 on the other hand, I would buy that in Steam immediately. I'd prefer the original sprites but I even the remade ones are probably tolerable. I think I got FF7 and FF8 on Steam already.

I don't think 11GBP is too outlandish, considering when it hit the DS, I'm guessing it was three times that.

I'm sure people who're offended won't have to wait long anyway, until it's on sale.

Nice, more FF for the PC.

But I'm not feeling the pricetag. I always thought SquareEnix was crazy with their upgraded port pricing over the years. No way in hell I'm willing to blow $15 on this. It will sit in my wishlist until a 50% off (or more) sale.

It's where you find out whether or not you're man enough for old school Final Fantasy

legit tedium

Got this version on the PSP, but will get it again to support Squenix's re-release on the PC.

If I'm not mistaken, this is probably their first (real) port job of any mainline Final Fantasy since FFVII in 1998 and FFVIII in 2000 to the PC whose recent Steam releases are considered to be uptouches of the previously ported ones by Eidos Interactive.

EDIT:- I wonder if it'll have native x360 pad support.

Price is too high when I already waited for the overpriced version I bought for the Vita. This isn't the smartphone realm and SE doing their normal SE tax since they know the loyal fans will want it on a non portable for the first time.

Looks nice. Maybe I'll finally finish it.

Wonder if they'll eventually put out everything that has had an IOS/Android port. Final Fantasy Tactics would be fucking sweet.

:-(

I'm sure it'll come eventually. In all its remastered glory:

I still don't get all the hate this port got. The character sprites look fine. The only gripe I really have is that piss poor font, but that's likely because they needed vectored/easily scalable text to accommodate the breadth of mobile devices.

I played the PSP version but only for about twenty minutes. Maybe I should rebuy it for PC since I don't have it anymore.

Playing the remake solidified by impression that Final Fantasy 3 is the worst one in the series (yes, even worse that FF2), but apparently the remake changes the balance a lot and is overall a POS compared to the original NES version. I urge people to stay far away and play the original game if they really want to play FF3.

That's where I gave up too. The insane spike in difficulty meant you had to grind for ages. Game wasn't that hard up to that point, it had it's moments but that last area was bullshit.

It's a good game in my opinion, but it should be cheaper. I'm passing on this version since I already played through it twice on both the DS and the much cleaner PSP version. If anything, I still ultimately prefer the Famicom version overall....it has a certain feel or atmosphere that I don't get from the remake.

Good for those who haven't played it though, I just think the price is a bit much.

Why are the sprites and textures still unfiltered? The game would look a lot better if they just did that.

I would like to know this as well. It seems like it would be a fairly simple change for such a great improvement, and it's not like our PCs can't handle it.

Maybe it's more complicated than I think it is...

I'm never going to forgive that last dungeon. There's no cheesing it, it's 3 hours long and has NO FUCKING SAVE POINTS AT ALL. So when you have 5-6 straight boss fights in the end, well, I hope you did a ton of grinding because it's fucking the worst.

I really hope they allow the option to save anywhere on the PC version, or that someone comes out with a mod/trainer that permits it because that shit is so fucked.

Holy shit.

Maybe this version can be modded to be better more easily than the others. Fingers crossed. Otherwise I'll continue to stick to the Famicom version.

Doesn't look bad... but it is essentially just the DS port with some texture filtering and a wider viewing angle... still more work then they put into the ports of FF7/8

This is really great news, and I'm looking forward to buying it. The PC is my favourite platform and I like Final Fantasy III. It's one of my more favourite Final Fantasy games. I always liked the older, cuter Final Fantasy. And while it's not my favourite Final Fantasy game, it's still fun and I'm looking forward to it.

This is especially nice because this game didn't originally have a PC version. This means that they may be interested in porting a lot more games to the PC.

It's not my favourite Final Fantasy game, but it is my favourite that they've ported to the PC so far. So I'm really happy!
