That it will be in the game.Wait, what? Confirmed what, that Don Corneo section won't be in this pos service-based "game"?
I wish I had your optimism to believe this. And this is what scares a lot of people:The meltdown over this is unbelievable, lol. This is what they decided to do to make the game as good as it can be. People will get to play part of it sooner this way.
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.
I can't believe they woudl ruin this. So many games for them to ruin, and they choose this one?
Wow, just wow.
At least NieR Automata should be awesome.
lol i know right"some huge downsides" "some great advantages" LMAO
A WSJ reporter just tweeted this (read from bottom to top)
So confused right now. Wouldn't this make it download only? How does this affect the RPG elements of the game? Would they carry across?
That's a disgusting idea. What is wrong with you?
Xenoblade X has one town. Its a big town, but its one town. The world is big, but it isnt as complex as having many cities and events. Not to mention the kind of detail they want to have with each model, each map, and so on.
If we all stop to think, or replay ff7, the game has an insanely large amount of scenarios. Many games today have less events and a lot more gameplay padding. You could literally cut the game into a third, add more scope to each area and more ability to explore, and you would have a fully fledged game. Each disc has a ton of content. I am not worried. Not only that, but i feel that they are going to add scenes from all the games and movie and put it all into this one game. We are talking a massive, massive game here.
Then this wouldn't be news.Isn't this just because the game is so big it won't fit on a standard PS4 disc? I wouldn't be surprised to see all the parts released at the same time.
Anybody defending this decision is such a corporate suckup. This is really, really cynical.
I think this could be the best case scenario:
Part 1 - Bombing mission to exit of Midgar - Q4 2017
Part 2 - Exit of Midgar to Aeris death - Q4 2018
Part 3 - Aeris death to end - Q4 2019
Might be better than waiting until end of 2019 for the whole thing.
Isn't this just because the game is so big it won't fit on a standard PS4 disc? I wouldn't be surprised to see all the parts released at the same time.
No. They will be separate releases at first.I'm assuming it'll be like the ps1 entry multiple disc in a single case.
THANK you. You guys need to realize that this move means the world will be more realized like this, more detailed and less half-hearted. They're not gonna simply chop up a single game's length into several pieces. They're basically fleshing out each piece and filling it up with details to make each piece into an intricate game. Not to mention that sales from each game can contribute to the budget of upcoming sequels. I'm all for this.
I assume so.Didn't people play through Mass Effect 1 and 2 many times over (assuming they really liked it) despite them being only parts 1 and 2 of a trilogy?
Lol you are even more cynical than me apparently.Well I mean if the alternative is only playing as Cloud then swapping control per episode is an improvement. I've already accepted we probably won't have the same party system as the original
Jesus Christ, this mindset and acceptance everything wrong with current gaming. The meltdown over this is unbelievable, lol. This is what they decided to do to make the game as good as it can be. People will get to play part of it sooner this way.
Sure... or we realize that it's not cutting corners or money grabbing, but a legitimate decision to make the game as big as it has to be, and that episodic gaming isn't inherently bad.
Isn't this just because the game is so big it won't fit on a standard PS4 disc? I wouldn't be surprised to see all the parts released at the same time.
Hell yes
No goddamn way they could cover all of FF7 in a single game
This is a great decision
Well, you should really abandon the word "episodic", nowhere does SQEX say this is episodic. To me, it seems more like this will just be such a huge project that they'll divide the game into a trilogy or something where each part is still a pretty big JRPG, just not the whole story of FFVII in one. Not that each part is some hyper-linear corridor like FFXIII or episodic linear story & battle segment that has no room for actual exploration. Each disc had the entire world on it (for the most part), only the CGI scenes were different. You never had to switch discs to transition to a different area.
FF7R being episodic means that the entire structure of the game will need to be butchered.
I'm really hoping this is just shoddy wording/translation. If its something along the lines of "They plan on releasing the FF7 remake (Original game) and then later release remakes for the expanded lore (crisis core, advent children)" then I'm completely fine with it. If it actually is an episodic release then I really don't understand what the hell Square is thinking.
For now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and pray there wont be any more disappointments for to play in the future.
Yup. If Nomura is to be believed. This means more is actually preserved. If it was a released on a disc you'd imagine there would be some but content.
We really need more clarification on what they mean by this.
Jesus Christ, this mindset and acceptance everything wrong with current gaming.
Really? Don't you think it is bad that a game won't let you progress at your own pace? Like, after finishing a segment you have to wait months to keep playing the story?
You finish a fantastic scene, and you WANT to keep playing! You are pumped up to see what's next.
But FUCK YOU! You are greeted with a black screen with white text that says "To be continued"; followed by another screen prompting you to buy the next episode or the "full season pass".
Don't you feel that's a little... TERRIBLE?
But then who says they're doing the same thing here? Look at how the first Xenoblade did things. There were really large areas connected by the linear storyline which you could return to later by fast travel.
I believe they still can. Restrict optional quest in each episode. Most of optional quest in ff7 is time restricted or unlock after certain point anyway, so yes, it could be done. Unless FF7 taking xenosaga approach, with each game offering different gameplay style to tell coherent storyline, which is not bad anyway
