I only played the first bit where Tidus meets Auron and gets blown away (forgot how stilted the dialogue was. This was the first FF with VA after all). You can tell its PS2 assets but everything is so crisp and colorful, it really looks great.

Hope it sells well so we get FFXII remastered too.

I suspect that FFX HD is going to sell well so hopefully Squeenix takes the hint.

No, that's a really gross word to use when talking about a portable display.

So what's the consensus on the PS3 version versus the Vita version? Cannot decide which one I would get if I do decide to pick it up.

Edit: Probably should have worded that better. It's obvious that the PS3 is the better looking game but does the game hold up well on Vita? Those file sizes worry me. 1080P vs OLED

....Yeah sure kid you can be anything you want.

Edit: Also Tidus is a douche. Lots of people die and the moment after he's like "this is horrible I won't be able to go home."

Debating if I want to spend another $40 for the Vita version too.

Some of the animations look janky as fuck. I'm glad I went back and give the remastered samples multiple listens, (some more than others) it's a marginal improvement over the originals sans wandering flame and the battle theme.

This game is a treat for me to replay. It was the first game I played on ps2, the first game that blew me away graphically with the intro and gameplay and I loved the story and was amazed it had voice acting. It's like nostalgia in combination with the fact that it holds up extremely well creating a very endearing experience.

Sorry if it's been answered before but the file is 6.6gb on vita, will it require twice the space to download the file like on ps3 or is my empty 8gb card enough?

Not sure i've seen images of Blitzball from this game. Any refinements to it or?

And yes, blitzball is the best thing since sliced bread, deal with it

Picking this up for Vita tomorrow morning, halfway through Memories of Celceta but guessing this will occupy my Vita for a while. Had 70+ hours of just Blitzball back on PS2, can't wait to have Brother dominate the entire opposing team again.

played a bit on vita. game sure does look decent. Tidus looks like he belongs in some ghetto cg sex movie you see on banner ads on porn sites, but at least it seems like he only has 1 character model now (or its not as obvious).

native or near native res games just look great on the device. Rather take ps2 visuals cleaned up over games trying to get ps3 visuals at the cost of framerate and image quality.

Is there no way to check what an ability does before
you can craft stuff?

Also, just to confirm: Lancet will 100% learn the ability if the enemy has a new one? So I just need to use Lancet once on every enemy I meet?

I posted pages ago and I assume it got buried with new posts since no one responded. Anyhow, is there a precedent for how long before Amazon will have the DD codes for this? Or are there some games that they don't stock DD? I have a coupon toward games, not psn credit, and want this game badly :)

Oh God, getting the Ultimate weapons in this game is so time consuming. I think I'm skipping that. Eff that.

Was it Tidus's that required the
0:0:0 racing
? That was the only one that made me rage. Rikku's, Auron's, and Yuna's were easy. Lulu's and Khimari's were just time consuming (I was decent at
butterflies
). Wakka's was my favorite to get, as I am a crazy person apparently for liking
blitzball
.

For a game I ranked in the bottom third of all FF game, it's amazing how exicted I was last night to get started again. I still have the same problems with the characters all these years later but I'm really enjoying my time with it. I just got to the tournament and I fell asleep in my chair and woke up this morning. That's not a comment on the game, I was just really tired: p

Well, being a blitzball player is cool, but this kid just wants to be the ball. He surely has problems.
On the other hand half his village and neighbours were just slaughtered by Sin the day before, so bravo Squareenix for this example of the consequences of a trauma.

Can't wait to try blitzball again 10 years later, in any case. Maybe this time I'll like it more.

I didn't have much of a problem getting the celestial weapons, with the one huge exception being Tidus' weapon which I never got. That bird dodging mini game is the worst.

If someone with the CE could do some high quality scans of the lithographs, that'd be great :).

Also I'm still wondering on whether the 3 different artbooks (CE, LE American and LE European) have the exact same contents or not?

You don't need to have double the space available when you download games on the Vita so your card should be fine

How are you guys taking screens? Or is that a vita thing?

Yes there is a screenshot function on the Vita. You just hold start and home together and it will take a shot. The images usually end up compressed though

I don't think I got any of the Ultimate weapons for anyone, it was just a pain. I'd really like to this time but I doubt I can make that commitment

I rebuilt the sphere grid, beat the monster arena, got all the ultimates, and maxed out three characters on the PS2. I don't know if I can do it again. It was one hell of a slog. I'm pretty sure I have high blood pressure now because of those butterflies.

I am not sure what boss it was but I know it was after the snowmobile cutscene. That is the farthest I ever got in this game. Not sure how far in that was because it was a long time ago but hopefully it goes better this time. Was mad frustrated at the time.

So my question about cross-saves that I asked a few times was completely ignored, but I'll try asking a different question: Is there a way to read ability descriptions before using spheres on the sphere grid or buying weapons?

I put in a good 90 minutes into this game last night before falling asleep. The remaster was so well done, and I really really hope we see XII HD. Please please please please!

Waka's was what did me in. Not a fan of the process in getting it.

So I think I may have missed using the destruction sphere for the treasure in the cloister trial (I'm assuming there will be several of these and this is the first?). What am I missing out on here? If you can answer this without spoiling too much..... is it possible to go back and get at any point? I've already saved and getting it again would mean restarting the game.

I don't want any story details if at all possible as I'm playing this for the first time.

I have no idea on anything about cross saves but to answer your new question. There isn't a way to view this in game prior to obtaining the ability or weapon. I suggest looking it up on the old interweb if there's anything you want to know

How are you guys finding the facial animations? From various trailers they look a bit emotionless, are they ok in game? (i'm in the UK so have to wait till Friday, Shopto are dispatching today so I have a slight hope it will arrive tomorrow)

Unless Amazon has specifically said somewhere that their DD store will have this game, I bet it won't. Their DD store for PS4 and especially Vita has turned out to be really disappointing. New games just aren't there. You should give up waiting on FFX to be there anytime soon, if ever.

Look at how many games their digital Vita store has. The list is terrible and hasn't been updated in a long time. It's the same list I was looking at a month ago. Don't expect FFX to suddenly show up there.

The first half of the game is basically Tidus maturing into an adult from a pampered sports star. He still says dumb shit at the end of the game but at least it's not selfish.

X's are devoid of all life. X-2 on the other hand has a lot more life. Shit, in the first 10 minutes of the game I saw more emotion on Rikku's face than I have on any character model in X combined over the last 3 hours. I want to say that the faces in X-2 look better than X's as well, Yuna's HQ face is much better.

Go to the help menu in the triangle menu. There's a section on every ability and weapon/armor buff in the game.

Not many people know this. Hell, I didn't even know when I first played the game. Maybe it's new? Doubt it though. Spread the word!

And yes, Lancet will always learn an ability when possible. Once per enemy is fine. Only exception is one particular boss fight where it's possible to learn multiple skills, so keep using lancet until you stop learning them.

I tested cross-save a bit. Not 100% clear, but it seems you have to go to the data transfer menu anytime you want to upload/download your data.

As for your second question, look above.

Dangit! That's disappointing, I use my PC monitor for console gaming (EDIT: silly me, I have dual monitors set up so this isn't really a problem) and usually only play FFX on my Vita when I'm away from my PS3 (i.e. away from PC as well) so that's inconvenient for me, but I suppose I could try using my phone. I just hate looking stuff up online for games even if it's something fundamental like this, it just feels wrong and I can't bring myself to do it.

Thanks for the response, btw!

Hmmm, that seems odd though, because there's no way to exit to the main menu which means you have to completely exit the game, then reload it and wait through all the start-up screens and initial game menu before you get to the FFX menu before you can start to sync. The only thing I've tried to work around this is use soft rest (L1+L2+R1+R2+Select+Start), but that's crazy difficult to do on Vita and I don't feel comfortable using soft reset, it feels really unsafe. If there was just a way to exit to the main menu then this wouldn't be so bad.

Oh well, now I know what to expect. I think I would have been happy if they just updated the in game models and refined the cutscene ones. Seems weird to make them look kind of worse than the originals.

Lolwtf, the list is different compared to the tutorial panels which had the Sphere Grid tutorial instead of an Ability reference. No wonder I missed that!

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Played about two hours on the PS3 SKU.

Wow. The game looks absolutely fantastic. I was expecting just rudimentary things like 16:9 support and 720p. They really went to town on the textures. Is it just me, or did they also redo the mesh on a few monsters? Some of them look pretty high-poly for a PS2 game.

Does this game support surround sound at all? I figured out the game doesn't support DTS, but when I play in DD I'm getting nothing out of the rear channels.

Also, is it just me, or is loading slower than the PS2 game? It seems like I'm hitting a 6-8 seconds load every two screens I cross...
