FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

So guys whats the best monster to level up?? I mean what type (late bloomer, well grown etc?)

I like early peakers because they don't take much investment and they get excellent stats for when you get them in the game typically. Late bloomers are great too since you can keep leveling them up and the few I've bothered with have pretty good stats as well. Honestly just level up whatever looks interesting to you. Even if the monster turns out to be trash you might end up with some good infusion fodder.

Hmmm... I seem to be stuck at semi-early
Oerba 200AF, I can't get the second puzzle/anomaly stage to start. I did the whole Snow storyline and I beat the paradox puzzle in Yaschas Massif 110AF. Was I supposed to do something right after beating that paradox?

Solved it. I was trying to get through the wrong area.

Ok thanks!!!

BTW because everyone said the game is too easy I am not levelling up my characters until the end of a chapter, well I'm seeing how this works out...so far I'm not facing too much difficulty.

to atb cancel, paradigm shift as your last action is about to complete. If you did it did it rght, you'll get a full atb bar. you can only do this after completing one full atb gauge turn without shifting. Exception is you can do this at the beginning of a battle immediately.

That's how it works? I always shift after every other full ATB and let all the actions complete, but still start with a full bar after I shift. Unless that's something entirely different

i actually don't know if you need to cancel the last action, but what you said essentially what i meant.

Wow thanks, I'll try it..

What everyone else said for me is essentially correct.

Also, I just got a Dragoon, and holy shit is it a beast. Mine has roughly 800 attack and 6k HP and that's at level 18.

Wow thanks, I'll try it..

I'll agree to some extent, but you're also at the beginning of the game.

3 hours and I'am loving the story, its a chrono trigger wannabe but I love the time paradox and the time travels. If the game answers all my questions about the beginning of the game, I'll be satisfied.

PD: Pesfo, try in preferences.

I was too overconfident...just got destroyed by a regular monster. Guess the monsters got harder after I defeated
Atlas

Okay I'll level up now...

I noticed this, but never it never really clicked. Thanks for the explaination!

okay at least where I am this game is NOT easy right now
(Chapter 3 Part 1 -- Yaschas Massif)
. But its so fun. haven't used paradigms this frantically ever!

Tragic victim of fan death
^ That part is actually intentionally difficult.

The difficult parts are actually the most fun parts of the game because it's the difficulty it should've been for normal fights. Ugh. So sad... The last episode is far above that though. So frantically stupid.

You can beat the game without collecting a majority of the fragments or completing the side quests right? Want to deal with them afterward in post because they aren't that interesting to begin with.

You'll probably get a third or close to it by the time you beat the game.

You can, but I found it incredibly difficult. I ended up doing a lot of grinding while getting the fragments.

Just got my UK PS3 Collectors Edition from GAME and didn't get any pre-order goods... Raging! Anyone else here pre-order with them online and not get anything?

If you did, when did you pre-order and what version?

Edit
Tweeted to GAME about it and it turns out the bonuses are sent separately so, there's the heads up XD

How well did you handle Yomi? Second time through im still having a hard time beating him (took me an hour first time lol)

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Almost bought the CE guide today, but refrained because I knew I wanted it just because it looks nice.

Stronger than I am. I even walked into the store telling myself not to bother with the guide. Nothing is missable this time around, and I can relax and just play the game.

But man that CE guide with it's puffy soft cover kept taunting me and I made the plunge. Again, pointless and I barely have cracked it open, but the layout is well done at the very least.

I have a question related to this. In a non spolierfic way can someone explain all the requirements needed to get the best or what is considered to be the canon ending if you would?

I assume you probably have to get all the fragments or something?

I think you need all 160 fragments (someone please correct me on that); I'd tell you myself but I'm still stuck at 159.

Tried for two days to beat him. Haven't succeeded :(

Yomi and the one in Oerba are bullshit :( if those were just regular bosses, I think I would have stopped playing.

I carried it around with me with the intent of buying it as I continued to shop, so I felt like an idiot when I just nonchalantly strolled back up to the counter where it was stacked :(

You have to get all fragments minus one (you get the last after watching the ending).

However, the default ending is the canon ending.

Just played maybe the first hour, pretty cool, but the performance is very disappointing. I'm wondering about the 'outfits' menu, there's currently no DLC available, I know the AC guy's outfit is coming, what else if confirmed? I checked the OP but couldn't see it, my apologize if it's in there.

A bit into the game now and I really like it, I don't really have any complaints either. Everything opened up really quickly unlike FFXIII which is most definitely a good thing

The story so far feature is cool too even if it seems like just random scenes thrown together

Dark Schala

Eloquent Princess
I have to mention that I'm getting sick and tired of a few of my friends saying stuff to me like this:

-> "WHY DON'T YOU LIKE THE STORY? It makes complete sense!!" (They say this now.)

-> "The cutscenes are good. How could you not like the intro? That scene with Alyssa was touching!" (I'm not touching this one with a 10-foot pole.)

-> "But they explain everything! How can you want more concrete answers than that?" (Because they aren't concrete answers at all. Everything is just "a paradox did it". That's not concrete at all.)

-> "Caius is one of the best villains ever. His motivations are cool! You just have bad taste in villains." (His motivations are like
a Tales villain's.
. And fuck you, I have good taste in villains. My favourite villains are here, and tack on Majora and we're good to go.)

-> "How can you say this game is easy? A lot of the bosses are challenging. Maybe you're just grinding." (Actually, not anymore. I'm not max levels with anyone at all, and am spreading my points around rather logically because I'm only using two characters. If I'm finding the game ridiculously easy with just two characters on the highest difficulty possible, there's a problem. The game has lost its sense of balancing, and it gets rather boring to fight fodder.)

-> "You should like this game. It's like Chrono Trigger. You love Chrono Trigger." (I'm just going to hold my tongue on this. I'll just say that I completely disagree.)

Essentially, they're frustrated that I'm not getting much out of the narrative bits of the game. It's because this kind of narrative isn't what I'm interested in; I prefer RPG storytelling like Suikoden, Mother, Fire Emblem, anything by Matsuno, etc. I don't really get into this stuff, lol, so I don't see why they're trying to force me into liking the narrative. It's very irritating.

However, I find this game more fun than FFXIII. The quests at least have more variety than "go kill this and 5-star it" (which was already easy in FFXIII if you used Tier-1 weapons, and didn't use stat-enhancers). And the Fragments have some story bits if you go into the menu and read them (hahahahaha--I shall admit that they're more informative than the NPCs who repeat themselves). And I like that I can go wherever I want whenever I want. It's nice.

I found it hard to get invested due to lack of context.
I found it hard to get invested due to me not caring at all for things like that. I'm typically wowed by substance, not flash.

OK, now you've got me started!

Archadian Ardent (Bronze) - Hold 28 Pinewood Chops and one Sandalwood Chop at the same time

Want Fries With That? (Bronze) - Get Ktjn the Viera a job in a sundries store

Airships Make Me Happy (Bronze) - Without ever having used one yourself, meet the Archadian boy who looks down on teleport stones

Tchita Rally (Bronze) - Reach the Tchita Uplands or further on a chocobo caught in Ozmone

(And for the other Matsuno SE masterpiece, Vagrant Story, the titles, already in the game, that they give you for finishing the game with various constraints (no Break Arts, for example) would all make fine trophies.)
NOW they need to make FFXII HD. It's a game that's just made for trophies like that. Not to mention it's fun to play through (the IZJS version moreso).

I think that's unfair. It's pretty obvious from the rest of your posts that you don't approach the game the same way the average player would.

Are they the kind of people who are in disbelief that someone else may have a different opinion of something and feel the need to force you to like it as much as them?

Derivation of enjoyment is always different for everyone, and it sucks that some people can't understand that.

This is true. Actually, the same can be said for many games I play. It's just that when I recommend certain paradigms for them to use and give them directions when they have trouble, they get irritated that even though I'm not playing the same way as they are, that I'm finding it easy to construct Paradigms for them. I don't really get their frustrations behind it.

Though I expected it to be like FFXIII where I Optima Changed constantly to keep pace with the battle. I'm barely using buffs and debuffs in comparison to FFXIII, and I only shift to Sentinels whenever enemies strike (because the enemy attack animations in this game are absurdly slow that it's easy to predict when they'll strike in order to Optima Change.

Most of my Optimas for harder enemies/rare encounters/bosses are like this:
-Com/Rav
-Com/Rav (ATB Cancel)
-Rav/Rav*
-Rav/Rav (ATB Cancel)
-Rav/Sab (partly for ATB Cancel, and partly to inflict Imperil/Deprotect on the target)
-Sen/Med (Defend against strike/heal)

(Occasional Com/Med or Med/Rav if I think the boss/enemy will keep me on my toes somewhat.)

This is kind of what I mean by balancing being thrown out. If this were FFXIII, I'd emphasize Sab and Syn a lot more because the enemies hit much harder in that game. But I don't really see the need for Syn very often outside of the odd Protect here and there; contrast that with FFXIII, and the first thing I'd do in harder battles is buff like crazy. I'm a little disappointed in that since I liberally used Syn and Sab in FFXIII, and they were actually my two favourite classes.

I don't get why they're bashing my way of playing the game either. Apparently I'm playing it wrong. -_-

They can be rather set in their way of thinking sometimes. I'm a bit surprised they're trying to impose their opinion of the narrative on me, though. I don't do that sort of thing in return since everyone has different opinions and they get enjoyment out of different things, so I expect to be treated in a similar manner.

I don't really understand it. :|

^ This

Also so many bosses have frequent status dispels and no haste so SYN borders on near pointless.

Tried for two days to beat him. Haven't succeeded :(

How far are you characters leveld up?

Basically you just need a SEN/SAB/SAB and cast bio on him. If youre strong enough and it succeeds early, you can try changing to SEN/COM/COM or a with a RAV. In the time he shields himself, have a strong heal (possibly even buff) paradigm to get your characters up again.

Should make Yomi rather easy.

So I seem to be closing in on the last dungeon soon (or at least I think so) and overall I've liked this game FAR more than FF13. I only wish the bosses were a bit harder.

Sure the story is a little derp, but then again most FFs are. At this point I don't think the ending could ruin how much I like the game since what I like most about it is the gameplay/music.

I'll chime back in once I beat it to see if it leaves me as soured as a lot of people here, but honestly I like the gameplay enough I doubt it will wreck my opinion.
